Of All the Hats I Wear, “Mom” Is the Best || Mother?s Day 2018

It?s hard to believe this is my fourteenth official Mother?s Day. Fourteen years of loving so deep and intensely that my heart feels like it could literally explode.

I?m sitting here at my computer trying desperately to think of something cute, witty, and original because I know I?ve posted endlessly about these little beings that make MY world go round.

But the fact of the matter is that what I say here to YOU doesn?t matter nearly as much as what I say and how I am to THEM. THEY are what matter, and THEY are the ones I should be giving all of my energy to thank, love, and shower with laughs and affection.

So today, I?m simply sharing some of my favorite photos of my favorite people. And I?ll leave you with this simple sentiment: There truly is no better role on planet Earth than the one titled MOM. I have more days than not where I feel unworthy to raise such perfect beings, and I feel simultaneously guilty and grateful for having the blessings that come with this role. The love I receive from them is incomparable to anything else…ever. I spend my days and nights just TRYING to repay them for what they give to me by showering them with endless hugs, kisses, squeezes, laughs, and unconditional love. Will it ever be enough? Will I ever be enough for them? I don?t know, but I have no other plans than living my life striving each and every day to help them know how wonderful and great and capable and lovable and WORTHY they are.

While I?m sure all kids are special, I can?t help but feel these little beings were put on earth for a reason. My feeling and hope is that ALL parents feel this way, and if they don?t, I think a priority check might be in order. Our babies ARE special…with their faults and all. No one is perfect without their imperfections, and our children are no exception. Don?t be fooled by the posts you see me post. We have child struggles too, but in the end, consistency, discipline, and loving them no matter what are what I truly believe have made these kids so darn enjoyable to be around.

Matix, Marley, Cash, and Ruby truly are heaven sent, and they brighten the lives of every single human they touch. How I got so lucky to be their mama…I don?t know. I?ll never get it, and I?ll never stop feeling just a teeny bit unworthy of the title. Only unworthy ENOUGH to keep me on my A-game though. 🙂

Where much is given, much is expected. I have been given SO much with these kids. I KNOW God is expecting a lot out of me now. May each and every day, each and every career move, and each and every decision be made with my babies in mind FIRST. May they always know that NO ONE loves them more than their mama, no matter what cyber bullies might say. And may they always know that the world is their oyster, and with hard work, respect, and unconditional love as their motive, ANYTHING is possible.

Also, no Mother?s Day is complete without showing a huge amount of love for the mama who raised me to be exactly who I am today. Truly…she is the best this world has to offer. I?m not quite sure HOW I lucked out to get her. She?s gorgeous on the outside, and somehow even more gorgeous on the inside. This mama loved me (and still loves me) for exactly who I am, no matter what that looks like. She is the one responsible for loving me the only way I know how to love my own kids: unconditionally. No matter what, always and forever. I love you so much, Mom!

Before I go, I wanted to share this sweet video Chris and the kids surprised me with today.? My main squeeze sure knows that the way to my heart is through these kiddos. Needless to say, this video he made for me with all 4 kiddos answering questions about their mama melted me. Mother?s Day couldn?t get any better than this. Yet another reminder of why I love these ones so much?I seriously can?t stop watching it! ??

Happy Mother?s Day to all the moms out there…with or without children!

xo,

Heidi
