    Hi,
I am at my goal weight after carb cycling with the turbo cycle ( worked so fast). I went on maintenance deciding to switch to the easy cycle. I do work out every day with some High intensity and low intensity work outs, nothing extreme or for long periods. I have been noticing a dip in energy and interrupted sleep. I am not sure at this point whether to switch to the fit plan. After watching Heidi’s video on how to eat if you want to bulk up, she said to eat protein, fa,t carbs and veggies at every meal. Would that be for people who intensely exercise? Just not sure which plan would work best to maintain fat loss.
    Thanks so much

Hi Dee: It all kind of depends on your goals. You can definitely switch to the Fit Cycle, and it could help keep your energy up and help with your sleep too.

    Heidi,
My husband I have both had Gastric Sleeve surgery. We have lost a lot of weight but we are not where we both want to be. We have been at a stand still with our weight loss for a couple of months now and we are not happy with that. We work out a lot and I am down to 215 and he is down to 250. We purchased Chris’s books and have been carb cycling for about a week and a half now. With the Gastric Sleeve surgery they remove most of your stomach and leave you with a tube like stomach that holds about 10 ozs of food. They do not touch your intestines so it is not like that bypass or anything. But with only holding 10 ounces of food at a time we are not eating no where near the amount of food that he wants us to eat at each of the 5 meals. I am wondering if we need to adjust the number of times or frequency of meals we eat a day? Thanks so much for any help you could send our way!!!

Leslie, because of your unique situation I would recommend sharing the eating plan with your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Good luck! 🙂

I had weight lost surgery in April 2011 would carb cycleing help me keep off the weight or what can I do?

  5. shelley Smith - August 9, 2013

    Heidi,
I had vertical gastric sleeve surgery Dec 2012. My starting weight (pre-surgery was 314, day of surgery was 281 and today I am 250 lbs). I am pleased with the loss but not over joyed. I have difficulty exercising sufficiently everyday because of bad knees and 3 degenerating discs in my low back. I walk 1 kilometer in the pool 5 days a week but I know that isn’t enough. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can ramp up the exercise?

  6. Susan - August 9, 2013

I need to find workouts and exercises that I can do with multiple arthritic sites. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and doc said no squats, lunges, inclines; have had multiple surgeries on feet and have sever arthritis in both; also in areas of neck. Now I am developing it in one hand! However, I believe that exercise would be best therapy. In addition to helping ease flexibility I can loose weight and take pressure off knees and feet! The feet are what hinders me the most. I can deal with the rest but when its difficult to walk it is bad.
Compared to the show, I don’t need to loose that much weight. I am shooting for 40-50 pounds. I just feel I need guidance on how to best do this with my issues. If they can I know I can!!!!

I have lymphedema and I carry extra fat in calves and ankles and at elbows are there any exercises to really burn those fatty areas. I do cardio and weights, Zumba, running things like that. I am hoping to start massage to help with lymphatic drainage .

Thankss. Thanks for this. Great idea. I’ll have to think up some questions another time! You are a walking testament to everything you teach. Just awesome.

  16. Kimberly Vickers - August 7, 2013

Heidi, on low carb days do I need to not eat any fruits? And what about protein shakes? Are those for high carb days or low carb days? I use vanilla muscle milk protein powder.

    • admin - August 8, 2013

You can have fruit for breakfast (its a high carb meal.) Enjoy fruit at all high carb meals.

    Hi Heidi,
My husband needs to lose his belly which scares the heck out of me. he tries the elliptical once in a while and occasionally over the years the treadmill (4 times) . my concern now is trying to explain warming up and cooling down. he will come upstairs out of breath from being on the elliptical for 5 minutes. I urge him to slow down first and wait till his breathing is normal when ending a workout. am I mislead by this information?

  22. admin - July 26, 2013

Unfortunately no, because the shake is high carb. On low carb days, you could enjoy a Bod-e Burn with a fat such as a cheese stick and some veggies.

  23. admin - July 21, 2013

Fruits are considered a carb so only enjoy those on a high carb meal.

    Hi Heidi,

You two are so great at what you do. I’m a 42 year old that has won first place in novice and debut in bodybuilding but I want to take it to the next level and win over all! It’s so hard to lose all that body fat and I haven’t been able to keep as lean as I wanted to on my off season. Is there any words of wisdom you can give me.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Hello, I recently started the classic cycle, I read your book Choose more, lose more fore life, and it said that for women we should stay between 1200 – 1500, but I’m 6 ft tall and 322 lbs, should I still eat that little calories or should I follow the men’s guidelines until I get smaller?

  28. Tammy - July 20, 2013

    Hello,
I started the Turbo cycle last week. I lost four pounds by my Saturday weigh in. I was sooo excited. This week (my second week) I gained two as of this morning (Saturday again). What happened? I’m concerned my reward day last Sunday made me put back on two of the pounds I lost and I was unable to lose them again this week. I’m so sad. I did exactly what I did the first week this week. 1200 cal on low carb, 1500 on high carb and 30 min of exercise. Last Sunday on reward day I ate 2000 calories. I didn’t even go up to the 2400 allowed. Does that mean I should skip tomorrow’s reward day? Maybe reward days don’t work for me? I’m so lost and Zi really really want this to work. So badly that I stuck to the plan this week on vacation. I brought all my food with me and ate it and only it. This is very perplexing. Please help me figure out what’s wrong.
    Thank you!

Hi Heidi! First let me start by saying you look fabulous and are such an inspiration! I do have a question for you… I was on a healthy journey, lost 38lbs in 3 months working out and doing the weight watchers program… until i lost my grandma who i was very close with ~ after 3 months of sadness I gained 7lbs back. I’m finally getting my motivation back but have just found out i’m about 4 wks pregnant! Is it safe to workout aggressively? I was giving it 110%, feeling like i got my butt kicked after most workouts (in a good way)… if I wasn’t pregnant I would say i have 50 lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight ~ HELP!!!!! You’re husband is also very inspiring to me too, you both are a great team together!!!!

I have RA and was hit by a drunk driver when I was younger so my legs are always swollen with edema, knees are messed up, in lots of pain. I started gaining weight when I was 17 last couple of months of pregnancy I gained 100 lbs. Had 4 children and same with all of them. I finally found a doctor that is giving me thyroid pills because of my symptoms. I have lost some inches. I am over 500 lbs and just want to know where do I start? The gyms tell me I am too big to go there. I have had to get on disability and now just stay home and have gotten to the point I can’t even walk. It hurts just too much. I want to live for myself and my kids. Please help me with any advice! I want my life back, at least some kind of life.

    Hello Heidi,

I am just beginning my weight loss journey. I have about 75 lbs to lose and am 5’2″. I have taken a few Zumba classes and step classes. And I try walking a couple times a week also. I lose my breath and stamina VERY quickly, though I have been told I recover very quickly. Would using a rowing machine be a good place to start, to improve my aerobic capacity & burn calories?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Sara

All of those are great. The more you work out, the more your stamina will increase so keep at it. You can do this! 🙂
