  1. HEIDI,

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR SHOW FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS. I WAS IN A BAD CAR CRASH, AND I HAVE HAD MANY MANY SURGERIES. I AM STARTING TO WALK AGAIN AND HAVE SET A GOAL TO BEING ABLE TO TAKE A CRUISE IN JANUARY. BUT IN THE THREE YEAR OF BED REST. I HAVE GAINED A WHOPPING 130lbs. I HAVE CRIED SO MUCH. I CAN. NOT DO MUCH AS FAR AS MOVEMENT, BUT I CAN DO SOMETHINGS. I AM A TYPE 2 DIABETIC, AND HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM, I ALSO HAVE A LIST OF FOOD ALLERGIES (most are deadly for me). I WANT TO DO SOMETHING ANYTHING TO GET THIS WEIGHT OFF. I DO NOT WANT TO DIE AT 50 AND NEVER SEE MY BABY GIRL BECOME A MOTHER, OR GET MARRIED. BUT WHERE DO I START, AM I DESTINED TO BE FAT FOR LIFE. I HOPE YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME DIRECTION.

    THANK YOU,
    MONICA PATTERSON

    1. Hi Monica! Here’s where you start: Check out Chris and Heidi’s carb cycling program in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life.”The book contains their complete nutrition and exercise program, and it’s the same one they use on the show. It will teach you everything you need to know and do to achieve your own transformation! Learn about the nutrition basics here: https://heidipowell.net/2713/carb-cycling-101/. And please discuss this, or any nutrition and exercise program, with your healthcare team first so any necessary modifications can be made to work around your health issues. You can do this!

  2. Hi, since time immemorial we know that exercising and dieting go hand in hand. Lately, i see posters saying that “abs are made 70% in the kitchen and 30% in the gym.”

    Please enlighten me.
    1. Which is more important in losing weight, exercise or diet?
    2. I’ll be 40 in a couple of months and i’d like to lose 15 pounds. I know my metabolism is getting slower these days because losing weight was easier before. How do i lose weight faster?
    3. How many calories should i consume in a day? I use the wheelchair full time. I work as an ESL tutor. I do my gait by walking with the help of a walker and long leg brace and lift weight (5 pnds) occasionally.

    Thank you and more power!

  3. Hi Heidi,
Perseverance is one of our schools Character Quality and I wish/dream you could come to our school as a female role model and inspire our young generation!
You are awesome! Both, you and Chris are truly a gift to this world!
    Bravo & Thank you,
    Reiko xo 🙂

  4. Hi Heidi,

I have been reading your blog and watching Extreme Weight Loss for few years now, and I just wanted to tell you how inspiring I find you as a person. I am normal weight and regular gym-goer, but still I think your whole attitude in life is something everyone – with or without weight problems – can look up to.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you have fans even on the other side of the world in Finland. 🙂

    Salla
