Ruby’s First Halloween?DIY Style!

Every Halloween I find myself in the same dilemma: I want my kids to experience all of the fun and magic of the holiday, but I have a hard time shelling out $30+ on a costume they?ll most likely never wear again. With 4 kiddos all in need of a costume, I?ve decided it’s time to break the mold of expensive store bought costumes and flex my crafty muscles! For sweet Ruby?s first Halloween, we?re going the DIY route! I love knowing that not only will we be saving so much cash, but we?re also creating a special memory for this very special Halloween. Today I?m sharing how I created Rubes’ quick and easy Black Widow costume for under $10! Watch the video for a step-by-step on creating this costume in under 30 minutes.

What are your littles going to be for Halloween? If you love the idea of a DIY but are short on time (story of my life!), try one of these amazing, super easy costumes!

Make it – Love it shared these incredible ideas:

Seriously SO cute and so creative. I am also loving this Paint and Paintbrush idea from Dukes and Duchesses and this adorable little Harry Potter from Love and Lion! Obsessed with this tiny guy!!

What are your kiddos dressing up as this year?! Are you going the DIY route or buying something ready made? If DIY isn’t your thing, I’ve linked a few of my favorite costumes for kids below!! Happy Halloween friends!

  1. We have a candy theme going this year–all DIY. The two Dachshunds are going to be Tootsie Rolls. My oldest son is a vending machine, my middle son is a Twix bar and the youngest son will be whatever is the fastest candy I can make. I’m not done with anything!

  2. Its my first time taking my three kiddos for halloween and only spent $14 !! Went to thrift store for customes and the doller store for some accessories. For my first time i think i did an awesome job saving! Because like you said they only wear it once 🙂

  3. This year my son wanted to go to a Halloween party as Olaf from Frozen. In Australia, there is no such thing as an Olaf costume that can be bought at the shops so I had no choice but to make him one. It’s amazing what an old bathrobe, baseball cap and cricket pants can be turned into!
