  1. Heidi,
You and your husband are such an inspiration to me! I’ve been doing the Turbo Cycle for a week now. The low carb days are killer on my energy, what would you recommend for that? And I weighed in this morning at a 1 lb loss… is that normal for this cycle? I was hoping for at least 2 lbs. I’m thinking of adding weight lifting next week. I read Choose more Lose more in just a few hours it was so inspiring! Just hope I can pick up my weightl oss a little. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ?

    1. Hi Kendra: It is common to feel lower energy on low carb days at the beginning of carb cycling. Just be patient, and it will get easier as your body gets used to a new way of doing things. And it is also common for your weight loss to be different from week to week, again, as your body gets used to this new way of doing things. Remember, sodium and carbs (even the healthy ones), can cause you to retain water weight, so be sure and only weigh on the morning of day 6 each week. And if you’re doing your 9-Minute Missions, those count as weight training too. Keep following the Turbo Cycle exactly, drink your water, do your weekly Reward Day and your Slingshot week every 4th week, and you’ll be good to go!

  2. Thanks so much for writing back so fast,
Yes Ive seen the book and followed several of their own suggestions before. Fortunately my eating habits have always been fantastic, including the carb cycling program. The problem I’m having is finding anyone who is familiar with training an amputee. I have contacted several cross fit gyms, and other trainers who aren’t comfortable training someone in a prosthetic, Even though I’m healthy and perfectly capable otherwise. I have followed Heidi and Chris for a long time watching the programs and even using their suggestions from the show. Nothing has worked, and now that I have this challenge ahead of me I’m hitting walls. I haven’t seen Heidi or Chris working with an amputee before and I think its important they consider doing so. Over 500 people lose a limb every day in the US. I would love for them to consider it, and I’d happily be their guinea pig , haha 😉 again thanks for the response

  3. I should have mentioned, I’m 5’8″ and went from size 4 to a 16. Ive been as large as a 20. I will have my prosthetic next week and want to get active as quick as possible, but would love some help to get there. I don’t even know where to begin.

  4. I read this post on Monday and was moved by it and then today I read your Instagram that said “Difficulties in life are intended to make us better not bitter”. That one really hit me hard. The last 3 years of my life would have made anyone bitter, and I am even guilty of it at times. I lost my leg below the knee on December 10th after living for 2 1/2 years with chronic pain and a paralyzed foot and ankle following a freak accident where I fell down stairs breaking several bones (I developed COMPARTMENT SYNDROME) . I’ve wanted to blame someone, I’ve wanted to be angry, I’ve wanted to stay in bed for the rest of my life. I am a loving mom (of a 12, 14, and 19 year old), just like you Heidi. I knew I couldn’t go through life bitter and also be a good example for my kids. I had to sell my business , a children’s boutique, following the accident as well, it was just too hard to physically keep up. On top of it, this year my husband of 20 years and I will be divorcing. It was a long and hard fought battle, and although we still love each other we know its for the best. How can I not be bitter at life? Because I cant, I’m alive and wake up breathing every day. I have 3 amazingly beautiful and talented children and I know even though I’m not physically whole I will move on. To move forward though I could really use your help! I’ve always been considered attractive, I was in pageants, and modeled as a Teen. I was in Shape magazine at one point. I continued to gain weight after my kids were born and worked really hard to get in shape. I never could. I love to work out, mainly with weights. In 2012 after the injury took place things changed. Not only could I not practice Yoga which I absolutely love, I couldn’t do much physically. Since then I have put on another 40lbs. (95 POUNDS TOTAL)!! On my 5’8 frame all this extra weight spreads out, but physically and internally I feel disgusting. I suck my stomach in so tight that I can hardly breathe sometimes (-: and My heart rate stays high. I know I’m about to become a single 41 year old mother with 3 kids. What man will want to date someone overweight with half a leg? I’m scared to death. My husband didn’t think I could become smaller again and I want so badly to show him as well as myself that even after 20 years and a total combined weight gain of 95 lbs that I can become a beautiful and healthy person again. I cant wait to run and mountain bike like I used to do, but as an amputee and show other ladies in my position that life CAN START OVER. Please contact me and let me know if you can help. You amaze me every day in your grace and confidence and most of all your love for the people you help. I can truly see the focus and determination in your eyes, that you want people to become what they strive to be. Help me become that person, please. I want to Just.Be.Happy. Take care, Heather P.S. I could send you pictures if you’d like, just email me and I will send them directly back. I am on Facebook under the name Heather Foster Corbin and Instagram (I follow you on both) And I am also from Arizona, we lived in Scottsdale and Gilbert.

    1. Hi Heather: Thank you for sharing your story and struggles with us. You have definitely been through a lot, but it sounds like you have an amazing attitude! Have you heard of Heidi and Chris’ carb cycling program? Check it out in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life.” The book contains their complete nutrition and exercise program, and it’s the same one they use on the show. It will teach you everything you need to know and do to achieve your own transformation! Learn all about it here: https://heidipowell.net/9060/how-to-begin-your-transformation-journey-step-by-step/. And please discuss this, or any nutrition and exercise program with your healthcare team first and let them help you with any necessary modifications. You can do this! 🙂
