From Heavyweight to Featherweight: Our EWL Fighter Jenn!

I was fortunate to spend a lot of one-on-one time with Jenn this year and be a part of her transformation firsthand.?I know her fight-or-flight workout with me seemed a bit harsh – both physically and emotionally – but we had spoken at length with Jenn about what it was going to take to TRULY transform. She knew our intentions were only for good. For her, it was about changing her total mindset from “surviving” what happens to her in life, to FIGHTING for what she wants in life. She was so focused on the negative in her life, that it was costing her the joy of appreciating all of the wonderful things she was blessed with. Along with her therapists, we spent our entire year together focused on learning to fight back and have an “attitude of gratitude” for herself, her family, and the experiences that have made her a stronger woman. And after living her life as a victim for over three decades, that is EXACTLY what she did…fought back. And look at her now! In fact, she goes in for skin surgery today, so please send her prayers and good vibes for a speedy recovery. 🙂

Jenn’s transformation was easily one of the most powerful I’ve been a part of, and I could not be more proud of this incredible woman. She has come so far and has so much wisdom to share. Although you saw much of the deep emotional part of the journey, we had far more lighthearted times. I was thrilled when she agreed to do a fun little post-finale video to share with all of you. Check out her video below!

  1. This is just an idea but I think it would be so amazing to see an episode or two of the results that friends and family had and the impact that receiving the one week scholarship had in their lives just due to those who paid it forward.

  2. Heidi, I look forward to the show every week! This week I watched half and decided to watch the rest today while running on the treadmill. Let’s just say that watching, running, AND crying is tough! I fell in love with this couple and am praying for both of their health! You, Chris, and your guests are such an inspiration!

  3. Hi Heidi,
1st I have to say that this episode was my absolute favorite since Bruce’s episode. I feel like you taking this approach with Jenn was completely appropriate for the situation! She had to be mad enough to fight back! I think you guys did great!

One thing that sticks out from last night’s episode is you saying that your absolutely hate when people say they’re not eating enough calories bc they will loose weight! I don’t think this is 100% accurate for everyone! I’ve followed diets down to the letter with minimal results! I’ve been extreme calorie restricted for years & I’m not loosing weight! I try to keep my calories between 800 to 1000 a day! I still have had minimal results!
I’ve posted to your blog before & I’m really hoping for some advice! I REALLY, REALLY, think I need you guys to customize a plan for me!! I can’t seem to drop weight no matter how much I diet or how much I work out! I have a son who’s 8 with severe health issues. This causes me to wake with him every 40 mins to every hour & a half each & every night. So I’m never able to get consecutive hours of sleep in a row! There’s no changing that, there’s no getting more sleep, but I’m hoping to having my body find a way to possibly work with me instead of against me! I’ve gotten a personal trainer, still nothing in terms of weight loss! I feel hopeless! My dr. Just tells me to keep trying….I need a plan! I need help & guidance! To read more about my son & what I deal with you can check out his page on FB @lilwarroiraidan thanks so much for your time! You guys rock!!

  4. I think that you both are amazing I watch you’re show all the time and every time I watch it I have tears going down my checks. This past couple months I tried to lose some weight I gain 40 pounds that I don’t want I’m 44 years old and I’m 165 pounds I want to be down 120 or 130. So please give me some advise what should I do Thank you. I hope to hear from you.

  5. Jenn you are so real…..I love listening to this candid interview. I am not overweight, but not a “Heidi” either. I teach fitness classes and every time I watch the show I want to jump in and help! I want to live with the Powell’s, or at least in their boot camp facility. I WANT work out with them, learn how to better deal with people’s emotional needs, because that is probably the biggest part of the transformation! Like you said Jenn, you have to change your mindset which is the toughest thing to do. Habits can be changed, but to change the way you think, that requires so much more… Anyway, GREAT job Jenn!! Seeing your beaming smile just made me cry! Heidi & Chris, I wanna be you when I grow up!! 🙂 (actually I am older)

Keep up the amazing work you do Powell’s!!

  6. I watched the show she did a trendmendous job. I would like to know if you can please help me out I’ve tried everything out. Please if you can how can I write you a personal letter

  7. Hi Heidi. Thank You for everything you guys do! You guy’s are amazing. The one thing that I have problems with is my eating habits. I was at 189 And now have gone up to 193 and it’s so hard losses the weight and eating much healthy and alway being much healthier. Thanks again. Iselda

    1. Hi Iselda: Check out the nutrition side of Chris and Heidi’s carb cycling program here: https://heidipowell.net/2713. Hopefully you can find some ideas to help you get your nutrition in order so you can achieve your goals. You can do this!

  8. Hello! One of the most magical parts of the show last night was the runDisney half-marathon. As Chris said, their races have inspired SO MANY people to lace up and become runners. The Princess Half-Marathon in Disney World was my first half ever in 2013 – and I am now training for my 10th! I feel that you are such a great fit with this brand and I am hoping to see you at the Disney World Wine & Dine Half-Marathon in November (my 11th half) – any chance of that??? You guys are a perfect fit for the Expo Speaker Series. Please consider 🙂

  9. Heidi I have a question about a comment you made on the show. You said weight loss in calories in, calories out and implied under eating will not effect weight loss. So hypothetically, if I were to eat only 500 calories a day and without two hours daily I would still lose weight? Your body doesn’t prevent weight loss if it’s starving?
