Meet The Powell Pack – Episode 2: Homesick

In our crazy busy and ever-changing (but wonderful) life, there seems to be only one constant: We are ALWAYS on the go! In the beginning of our marriage, Chris spent most of his life on the road shooting Extreme Weight Loss while I was home holding down the fort, taking care of the kids, running the businesses, and juggling the show peeps behind the scenes. I seriously thought I was going to go CRAZY a handful of times…especially when I was prego!!!!! For real. Anyway, I remember at one point, we had actually calculated the cumulative time that Chris had spent on the road, and the number of months was eye-opening. We figured he had missed 9 (yes, NINE) entire months out of one year when Cashy was just a baby. It was definitely one of the most difficult times in my life, and I can imagine I wasn?t the only one who struggled with it.

Thankfully, much has changed since then. Chris has traveled less, I have traveled more, we have traveled MUCH more together, and we have brought the kids along for SO much of it! We?ve settled into much more of a “routine” life (if you can call it that). But with so much time away, we have all learned the importance of the phrase ?Home is where the heart is.? ?

The Meet the Powell Pack?episode I?m featuring today is quite the emotional blast from the past and still brings tears to my eyes. I?m grateful these moments were captured though…it makes me even MORE grateful for the “balance” we have found today. Enjoy MTPP Episode 2!!

  1. My wife and I love the show. She is a peronal trainer (was). In Jan this year we realized she had a brain tumor and is currently in chemo. My biggest regret is that I assumed there would be time to make up for my busy schedule. Work hard but realize your kids grow up once. Also your marriage needs time. Take care. VAL.

    1. We’re so, so sorry to hear about what you and your family are going through, and can’t imagine how difficult this must be for all of you. We truly wish you all the best, and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us and our readers. A very valuable perspective and reminder we can all use.

  2. Welcome to military life 🙂 my husband has had to watch our kids grow through Skype. We do skype birthdays, skype christmas, skype fourth of july fireworks, He’s even skyped through alot of my marathon training (my bluetooth headphones are the BEST!)! You learn how to adapt and make the most of the time you have together.

  3. Hi, I live in Canada and I wasn’t able to view the video- it says it’s only available in the states- that’s the first time that this has happened- hope that I’ll still be able to view videos 🙂

  4. This video really touched me because my husband is only home 12- 36 hours a week and it’s hard to hold down the fort while he is gone. I alsofeel for yall because I am sure everytime you turn around you have someone begging you to save their life and you can’t save them all. Just as long as yall remember to take care of yallselves first before others. Ps: I know how most trainers hate the idea…. but I would love if yall made a workout video. Many of will never have the opportunity to workout with yall, and a video would be a way of making it possible.

    1. Sweet! I can’t wait to get them. It’s weird that when I googled it… only youtube videos pop up instead of where you can purchase actual dvd workouts.

  5. As someone who has watched the show since the beginning, this makes me love you guys, and your family so much more. The sacrifices you and your family makes so that you can help people like me, who don’t know who to turn to, or what to do to help ourselves anymore, is amazing.

I’m so glad you have quality time as a family, and I’m glad you share your love, kindness, and knowledge with everyone that you have. Thanks Chris, Heidi and family. I appreciate you sharing as much as you do. 🙂
