Happy Birthday to a Man We Will Never Forget

Of all Easters I?ve experienced in my life, this one is the most special to me.

On it?s own, Easter carries quite a bit of significance to me, and always has. It?s a time to reflect upon our lives and practice gratitude for the gift we have been given to be on this mortal earth. It?s also a time to practice gratitude for the possibilities that might be there beyond our life on this earth.

It feels like no coincidence that this Easter falls on the birthday of my late hero?my father. Funny how no matter how old you are, losing a parent is never easy. In fact, I feel like the more life you live with someone, the harder it is to let them go. That being said, my heart misses him so much. As much as it heals over time, it also experiences deeper longing as the days pass. I feel like an 8 year old girl sometimes that just wants her daddy :).

This Easter, I am practicing hope for and faith in a plan much greater than what I logically know to be true. Although my brain has a hard time comprehending life beyond this earth, my heart knows someday my family will be reunited with our amazing family leader.

Dad, I love you. I am so grateful for the incredible example you were during your lifetime of unconditional love, gratitude, appreciation, selflessness, courage, strength, leadership, and family togetherness. Your daughter, your grandkids, your brothers and sisters, your parents, your kids, your wife, and your friends miss you?but we carry you with us each and every day. Because of your life on this earth, we are better people. Because of your spirit that still lives on, this world is a better place.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Until we meet again,
Your daughter,

Heidi 🙂

  1. Heidi that tribute to your dad was truly said and felt from the heart. As I’m going through my parents going through sickness’ hearing this helps me get through it a little better & because I know I’m not facing it along. Your family is truly blessed to have the closeness you have such as I am which not everyone experiences. Thank yiu for sharing. Your Father raised an amazing lady who in turn is raising an amazing family. God bless you for all you & Chris do. Such an inspiration!!!

  2. Such a beautiful tribute to your father-loved getting to read it. Sounds like he was a pretty wonderful person.
My daughters birthday was also on Easter this year-made Easter double special.
You have a beautiful family. So happy to have connected with you.

  3. Your comment, “I am practicing hope for and faith in a plan much greater than what I logically know to be true,” made me think of one that I read–just this morning–by a favorite author of mine: Madeline L’Engle, author of A Wrinkle In Time. She was saying the same thing! “What I believe is so magnificent, so glorious, that it is beyond finite comprehension. To believe that the universe was created by a purposeful, benign Creator is one thing. To believe that this Creator took on human vesture, accepted death and mortality, was tempted, betrayed, broken, and all for love of us, defies reason. It is so wild that it terrifies some Christians who try to dogmatize their fear by lashing out at other Christians, because tidy Christianity with all answers given is easier than one which reaches out to the wild wonder of God’s love, a love we don’t even have to earn.”

  4. Wow! This really touched me! Thanks fo sharing. May Gods peace fill that void in your heart!! You n Chris are two amazing people, toching so many lives..thank You… Mike

  5. It’s so hard to lose someone I’m sorry. God does give us great hope that one day we won’t have death anymore and we will be able to see our loved ones again. Please look up Revolution 21:3-4 it’s a great comforting scripture for you on this day.
