Chris and I couldn’t be happier with the season 4 kick off of Extreme Weight Loss. The support we’ve gotten has been absolutely incredible – THANK YOU for watching and taking part in our peeps’ journeys :).
Now let’s talk about last night. I know many of you have questions and comments about Ty. My heart goes out to him, as I’m sure many of yours do. I can imagine the reality of the choices he made are hitting him hard right now. The good news is that Ty is young and his life is FAR from over. He can choose to change at any moment?and I hope he does. That boy, I’ll tell ya, has more potential than nearly anyone I’ve ever met :). His future can be as bright as the brightest star. Chris and I (and the entire EWL crew) know he CAN reach his potential when he is ready.
Chris and I have found that people need love and support to change, above all else. Please help us?be this for Ty, and try not to jump into the negative comments around his choices. Ty is a real life human being?with feelings. He is NOT just another episode.
Now let’s talk about the amazingness that Miss Charita brought last night. Um yes?she really is that wonderful. The spunk, sweetness, and inside/outside beauty Charita exudes is contagious!! I love her energy and am so grateful for the time we got to spend with her this year!!
In honor of her episode (which I KNOW helped millions of lives), this Zumba cha cha’ing queen is sharing some of her favorite tips with us!
Thanks Cha-Cha-Rita!!! We love you!

I wish Ty all the best and congratulations to Charita. I agree that Ty had the opportunity of a life time that many others would like but we can’t begin to imagine what he’s feeling mentally
I was sad with Ty’s choice, but when he said “I just want to be left alone”….I think I understood that. He probably just had enough of being in the center of attention with baseball for so long and being pushed again was hard to handle. I hope he decides to push through on his own and loose the weigh. Soo young…
Charity.. YOU ROCK!!!
I think the thing that bothers me the most about Ty’s decision is that he took away the opportunity from someone else who applied to the show and would have saw the challenge through to the end. Yes, he was young and based his decision to be on the show on all the wrong things. It also bothered me that he came back to you and Chris at the end of the episode, asked for help and then said he just wanted to be left alone. I hated seeing him mess you two around like that! My husband and I are big fans of the Powell pack and all that you stand for!!
Also, Charita was incredible! She seemed like such a sweetheart and really wanted to reach her goal. I love seeing people complete the EWL show with such high optimism and a positive attitude!
This post is just another example of how compassionate and loving the Powell pack is! So many people are so quick to judge and there was not one negative thing said about Ty on the episode… I am praying for Ty and hope he can accomplish all his dreams and goals! Absolutely love the addition of Heidi to the forefront of the show…my husband and I have been watching since season 1 <3

Very well said. I do wish him luck, and hope he finds his way. One of my favourite quotes comes to mind here: “Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they bwcome actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your.destiny.” – Lau Tzu.
Good luck Ty, I truly hope you find what you’re looking for.
I feel bad for Ty. I would give almost anything to meet and train with Chris and Heidi. That was a chance of a life time and it sucks he decided to turn down that opportunity. For someone struggling to open a full service gym and nutrition center, I am jealous for his appointment with the Powell’s and only hope that chance is given to me to change the lives of people like the Chris and Heidi do on a daily bases. I wish Ty luck in his future plans. Heidi and Chris keep up the awesome work! You are the best.
My wife and I watch the show religiously. I even remember, was it season 1?, when the guy was making trips to McDonald’s behind your back? I don’t know the logistics of getting clients from point A to point B, but I felt (I can’t think of any term other than weird) as a viewer watching him come back, of his own will, to basically demand his own terms again. I truly hope for the best for him, but he’s definitely slammed the door in the face of an opportunity that could have gone to someone more appreciative. I feel more remorse for Heidi and Chris than anything else.
I think my exact words while watching the show with my wife were,”Everyone’s shoved sunshine up his ass for the sake of his batting ability.” There was no way for you guys to know he was hoping to literally be Babe Ruth reincarnate. You two do great things!
Great comment. I too felt so bad for Heidi & Chris. They were so giving and did care about his well-being. Trying to do things his way on his terms didn’t work before EWL gave him his shot and he should’ve known that his way wasn’t working and that he be willing to open up his mind & heart to change. Heidi & Chris know what they are doing. I certainly wouldn’t question their abilities or try to con them into “it’s my way or no way” concept. How frustrating that was for them. You could see it on their faces.
I feel bad that Ty is getting all this attention when he didn’t even finish, but Charita did, and she did an amazing job! Did she get the skin removal surgery? Her picture looks really great. I wish her continued success and contentedness.
You two impress me so so much, I can no say enough about your integrity. You really set a great example how host/trainer/coach should be and your dedication is what make you such a success..
Regarding Ty, he does have an amazing swing, if his dream is to play baseball then he needs to keep working toward his dream… He does not want talent scouts to see him give up… Ty you need to fight.. Fight through that, You seen your mother many times through life give up, and whether you realize it our not, that past experience and life has programmed you to feel you too have to follow the same cycle as she but in a different way… A great book that will help you is called The secret to the Millionaire Mind.. By T. Harv Eker.. It is great because it helps you to see what may be in your subconcious that you don’t even realize.. You had to vision when you came on the show.. I believe you can do it. Be a successful Baseball player. But you need to figure out what inside of you makes you want to give up when things get tough… You know when obstacles come your way, you can use the obstacle as a stepping stone to success… Ty.. Don’t give up your dream… Reach for the stars.. Think of many of the sports players you know and love, how many of them had to face challenges at a time in their lives.. Read about those players, and let them be your inspiration.. The thing I love about sports… Is many times the best players have to fall down in life, before they get there breakthrough.. or their big break… I know you can do it.. I’ll be praying for you Ty…
You know at first I was going to give Ty hell. I ask why, why. I was going crazy because I wish it was me. Then I had the light come on. Ty is so very young. And how was I at that age? Wow, ya I got it. It is just not his time. We are not Ty. And one day , and I hope the door will be open for him he will make that call to Chris and Heidi. Because we all need help. And to have great people like Chris and Heidi….wow. My best to all. And PS Chris and Heidi… I moved here to Peoria, AZ from NL to take care of my parents….how do you put up with this heat???
