Chris and I couldn’t be happier with the season 4 kick off of Extreme Weight Loss. The support we’ve gotten has been absolutely incredible – THANK YOU for watching and taking part in our peeps’ journeys :).

Now let’s talk about last night. I know many of you have questions and comments about Ty. My heart goes out to him, as I’m sure many of yours do. I can imagine the reality of the choices he made are hitting him hard right now. The good news is that Ty is young and his life is FAR from over. He can choose to change at any moment?and I hope he does. That boy, I’ll tell ya, has more potential than nearly anyone I’ve ever met :). His future can be as bright as the brightest star. Chris and I (and the entire EWL crew) know he CAN reach his potential when he is ready.

Chris and I have found that people need love and support to change, above all else. Please help us?be this for Ty, and try not to jump into the negative comments around his choices. Ty is a real life human being?with feelings. He is NOT just another episode.

In honor of her episode (which I KNOW helped millions of lives), this Zumba cha cha’ing queen is sharing some of her favorite tips with us!

Thanks Cha-Cha-Rita!!! We love you!

  1. I just love EWL!
As for Ty, there’s no hate on my end. It’s hard work, alot of pressure – especially when his life is being publicized. My heart broke when he walked away. But, as you say, he’s still young. Hopefully one day he’ll be ready, and if not, I personally wish him all the best. He has my best wishes regardless.
Charita blew me away! With everything going on in her life, she did it and I’m in total awe of her!
You and Chris seem so beautiful inside and out! All my best on everything you both do separately and together. 🙂

  2. The situation with Ty, from an audiences perspective was really frustrating. Not many people get that opportunity to have so much support and encouragement to reach their goal. I understand life happens and I feel for him and know that he’s been through a lot however this was THE opportunity of a life time. As for Charita she rocked it! She looks great and most importantly happy! Good job guys you did it again!

  3. I wish I had Charita’s willpower! She looked good!. I think Ty needs counseling before he tackles his weight problem. It is a waste of good talent.

  4. Heidi- you guys were great with Ty. I do hope sooner than later he will step outside his comfort zone and follow his dream. Hard work is the truly the way to reach your goals.
Charita looks amazing! So impressed with her dedication and integrity.

  5. I feel sad for Ty on so many levels. Such a wasted opportunity that so many people would love to have, but in the end, he is the only one that suffers for it. I really hope he finds his way at some point and sees that *he* is more than a career or money.

Charita? L O V E. She reminded me so much of myself that I found myself being even more emotional than normal. I started my transformation journey in March and seeing her made me feel *empowered* and stronger. I know I can do this.

I love that you’re now on the show. Of course, most of us women tune in to stare at your hubby but you’re amazing and I love you too!! There are a lot of people who say it’s just about the money for you guys but you know what…you have to provide for your family too and you’re blessed enough to be able to do that WHILE helping others. Thank you for all of the inspiration and motivation you both provide to so many people. <3

  6. Ty was 19, correct? How many of us wish we could change decisions we made when we were that age??!!! Thank you Heidi and Chris for staying positive. I hope Ty will believe in himself enough to find direction in his life. It was obvious he wanted to feel healthier. Hopefully, he will get his determination and drive back!

  7. I DVR’d last night episode I haven’t watched all of it. I watched enough to know figure out who it was that quit. I wanted to say growing with alcoholism in my family and (myself) being in recovery from addiction starting with food, I can totally relate to Ty. You are always trying to please everyone and fit in. You think what if I’d only done better they’d love me. It’s like your best isn’t good enough. We feel like if we don’t meet “other people’s” standards we have completely failed therefore punishing ourselves because that’s what we feel we deserve.
One day at time…fall in love with yourself just the way you are right now. Accept where you are and know that you deserve all great things in life. Life is not all lollipops and rainbows. Feel your feelings and remember it’s never to late to start again. God Bless

Way to go Charity…you are truly an inspiration.

  8. I felt really bad for him. He had so much hope in believing he was going to make the major league. I thank Chris for investigating the guy that said he would sign him if he lost 100lbs. When the gentlemen was talking to Chris I knew something was fishy. I pray that Ty will wake one day and realize what he is doing to his body before it’s to late.
