Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!
I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.
Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?
As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?
Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.
I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!
Other Things to consider:
Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?
Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?
So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!
Comment away!!!!

Harley LeAnn Powell.
All of your other children have very strong names, ones that are unique (but not weird) she’s also going to need one that’s the same. I mean, you can’t have siblings named Cash&Marley&Matix and then introduce yourself as Brittney…that would be pretty lame. I know a little girl named Harley, she’s 6. And not only is she a little rockstar, she loves that she can by awesome clothes with her name on them(:
good luck!
Corra, Everly, Bailey.
How about Cara Noel? It means “most cherished, precious gift.” I wanted to name my my daughter that, but my husband vetoed it and she is Anna June instead. I’d love to see someone use the name.
My daughter’s name is Corina, I loved that name for as long as I can remember and I was happy when I found out we were having a girl that my husband liked it too. I’m from Argentina so we had to pick a name that was easy to pronounce both in English and Spanish so both sides of the family wouldn’t find it difficult. She is now almost 4 years old (tomorrow is her birthday!) and she loves her name 🙂 I’d be honored if you guys decided to name your daughter after mine, if her name is any indication of how her personality will be I can assure you she’ll be the sweetest little girl around 😉
My daughters name: Maddilyn
My middle name: Blaire
Maddilyn Powell
Blaire Powell
Both sound great to me! haha
I like the idea of using an “H” name to match your name, Heidi. I love the name Hartly. A friend of mine in my office named his little girl Hartley, it’s unique, I’ve never heard it before. I also like the name “Hope” as mentioned in another post. We named our first daughter Amber Catherine, you could use Catherine as a “C” name. It’s a classic name and it was her Great Grandmother’s name. We used Amber as a first name because she was born in October, it matched the colors of the Season, like November. 🙂 We named our youngest Noelle Elizabeth, we loved the name,it was a rare name at the time and she was born in January (Winter/Holiday name-like November). Her middle was from her Great Great Grandmother. (Something you could do, pulling a name from a special family member as a middle name) She loves her name and gets a lot of people singing the First Noel to her at school. 🙂 This would be a good first name or middle name. Hartley Noelle Powell, Hope Noelle Powell or Noelle Elizabeth Powell 🙂 OR Catherine Noelle Powell. Congrats!!! Looking forward to seeing what you choose for your very special bundle of joy!!!! God Bless your special family!
I suggest the name Robyn. It is also my name and I am a content, happy, seemingly quiet (until I own up with something unexpected). I love my name and is not especially common.
Congratulations on your new baby girl!
Robyn
I absolutely love the name Callie – it’s short, sweet and not very common. Someday when I have a little girl, I’d love to name her Callie.
So my suggestions:
Callie May Powell
or Callie Mae Powell
I love the name Harper although it doesnt follow the M or C trend.
I would choose the name Myria, i.e. Mariah Carey (Nick Cannons wife). Just a thought. Either way, this little baby girl is going to so so well loved by the entire Powell Family..
