Baby Name Dilemma

Chris and Heidi Powell are looking for names for their new baby girl - Learn more at https://heidipowell.net/3590

Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!

I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.

Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?

As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?

Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.

I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!

Other Things to consider:

Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?

Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?

So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!

Comment away!!!!

  1. How about Keri…I’ve had it my whole life…love it. <3 No one ever teased me…okay the did call me carebear but that was sweet. I didn't mind. I won't share the middle name, although it starts with a "C" it's hideous. 😉
I also love "Briella Nicole". I wanted to name my daughter that and we ended up with Marissa Renee which I love, love, love…but no more "M"'s for you.

  2. I love the name Shyann, which could also be spelt Cheyenne! And also love Savannah and talhia or talia! Hope you like them 🙂

  3. I like my name – Vivian. I didn’t like it growing up, because it was so different, but as I got older, I liked being the only one in my class with my name, so I think older or unique (my daughter is Arwynn) names are the best…….. So, Vivian Michelle Powell………. or Jessica Melissa Powell……………. or Sadie Marie Powell……….. or Evangeline Lucille Powell………..of, if you want a ‘C’ name, Cadence Lynn Powell………….. or Calyssa LeAnne Powell…………. So many to choose from (so glad I’m not going through it again! lol)

  4. My sons name is Tate. It means CHEERFUL!!! That is exactly what God gave me!! A cheerful boy!! My daughter likes the name Hanes. Have fun picking…..so many cool names out there! I would love to share Tate with you!

  5. I agree with the name “Cadence” as well. Especially with Chris already influencing music into the children’s lives.. and its a “C” 🙂

    Cayden… Caden… or Sorren!

    Good Luck!

  6. We named our daughter Lunden (my maiden name was Lundgren) do maybe you could somehow transform your maiden name.
Her middle name is her great grandma’s name.
Or you could just name her London Sophia Powell

  7. My most favourite C name is
Casey (my son’s name, but we loved it for a girl/boy name and there are NO other Casey’s in our area, we love it!)

but some others to stay with the C so Mr. Cash doesn’t feel left out

    Callie
    Carly
Cala (like the beautiful lily, so pretty!)
Cait (Unique spelling on the tradition Kate)
    Cora
Cairo (capital of Egypt, but sounds neat)

    Good Luck! 🙂

  8. Charlize Haya Powell

The name Charlize is of German origin. The meaning of Charlize is “free man” (OK, let’s say woman, hehe), “strong”. I love this name because of Charlize Theron. I adore her. And it starts with C, like Chris’ and Cash’s name.

The name Haya is of Japanese origin. The meaning of Haya is “quick”, “light”, which is more than suitable for your lifestyle. It also starts with H, like your name.
