Baby Name Dilemma

Chris and Heidi Powell are looking for names for their new baby girl - Learn more at https://heidipowell.net/3590

Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!

I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.

Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?

As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?

Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.

I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!

Other Things to consider:

Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?

Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?

So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!

Comment away!!!!

  1. I would pick a (short) name that starts with a C wich is not related to a famous musician ;-). Such as: Chloe, Caja/Caia, Cara, Charly, Coco, Cleo, Caro, Cady, Clair….. My personal favorites are… Cleo (like Cleopatra) Charlie (like Chaplin) and Coco (like Chanel). Hope you’ll find the PERFECT name soon!! Love from Holland

  2. I’m going with Candace…you can call her Candy. You can get the sweetness you need from your daughter instead of actual candy. I’d go with Candace Madison Powell. Then you get your C and your M.

  3. I think that the C doesn’t matter with princess. I love my daughter’s name it’s Rayna and in fact Chris you and Heidi met Rayna and I at Jacqui’s reveal party. So I vote Rayna.

  4. I love the name Layla, Layla Rose or Layla Grave. Or Bella is darling too. Sabrah Marie is cute as well. Chamilla, Ava,Alyssa or Hannah. Ok I’m done now 🙂 i hope you find something beautiful, meaningful and that speaks to all of your hearts!

  5. Here are some girls name I do love :

Mila (yes there is a M..) , Jeanne (French name), Emma , Naomi , L?a
    and In?s !

    And for a boy :

    Jules,James,Roman, L?o

    GOOD LUCK 🙂 xxx

  6. Hey there, our daughters name is Selina Elaine. Picked it because we wanted something internationaly sounding without the problems of pronouncing it wrongly in Dutch. Sounded nice and she is 13 now and have never regretted the choice. Good luck with picking it and don’t forget to follow your heart and your feeling.
    Sincerely Marielle

  7. Marley and Matix both have six letters…Cash has four so I came up with the following C names…. Caly, Cora, Cade, Cana, Cara, Cari, and My FAVORITE…Cree. I do not believe there is an attachment to a musician. CREE means A SWAN THAT IS PRETTIER THAN LIFE ITSELF, ALSO, HONEST AND VERY LOYAL. I just love the name Cree, it is unique and when we were awaiting our baby born through adoption…if it was a girl… we had Cree picked out. It turned out to be a boy Jaedyn… Meaning GOD HAS HEARD. :)Good Luck

  8. Hi,my suggestions for names are
    Heaven Love Edith Powell
    Heaven Love Norah Powell
    Heaven Divine Love Powell
I think three first names are strong. Otherwise just cut one ;-). Heaven Love could be as one name or one by one. Edith after Edith Piaf or Norah after Norah Jones. But maybe you?re not found of them at all. :-). Change it for Divine :-). Your family already have two M and two C so time for two H. Good luck!/ Love Mona

  9. ok, my daughter is Dakota karington and I also have a savanna kate. I went with the first 2 letters of middle to be the same so maybe as far as middle you could do that. I like carington powell:) why not do harlow Addison powell that way you can tell cash that he is a c like daddy and then baby #4 has an h like mommy. I also like Harley, or hunter, and hadence(unusual but cute). good luck to the whole family
