Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!
I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.
Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?
As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?
Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.
I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!
Other Things to consider:
Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?
Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?
So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!
Comment away!!!!

In our religion we pick a baby’s name after a family member that has passed away who we want to remember and honour. If not that, how about the names Jessica, Rachael or Sarah. You can always get a baby naming book from the library so that you can see the meaning of the name before you decide on it. Good luck!
I named my sons Zachary Blade and Austin Ray (Ray is my maiden name). We started with a Z name for our oldest and then went to A name for our youngest – so we’d have Z to A covered. ha!
I think a cool name would be Carlie (or Carley)Madeleine Powell or Carlie Marie Powell. Carlie Marie is cool because you have your C and your M name spelled similar and you’ve blended M and C names with your family (and Carly Simon is a singer..)
With your other names and number of syllables in them I like Claire for your little girl. Starts with a C to go with Cash and doesn’t come from a famous musician. Congrats on the little girl! My husband and I have 5 daughters! If you need more name choices our are Alyssa, Brianna, Olivia, Emma and Kara. 🙂
Emerson or Hampton
If you are going for C names, I would suggest Cadette, Cherish If you are looking for unique. I think Cadette could go short for Cady, I think in your line of work, it kind of fits. Because you can very well be seen as drill instructors. Cherish is simply just a reflection on your gift.
If you aren’t going for C names or M names, then there are a plethora of different options. Harper, Harlem, Tayce,(means silence) wishful thinking? Georgia, Scarlet, and
Or choose your favorite city with your best memories.
How about Caedence? It means rythym, I suspect it is a major part of your life.
Caedence also is the sequence of notes or chords comprising the close of a musical phrase- if this is going to be the baby of the Powell pack- how appropriate 🙂
Good luck with the name- I know it can be daunting. But whichever you choose, it will be perfect and special.
Prayers for a safe and healthy birth!
Krystal Dawn Powell
Karlie Alexandria Powell
I think it should be a C name. I like Chloe, Cali, Charlotte, Cassie, and Carleigh. Cassie and Cash would be too cute! No significance.
A “c” name for sure! I like the different names you have so you need a girl name with a C that is unique! Cadence, Callista, Caren are a few that are not to common and really cute!! Good luck!
We had a girl in April, and named her Stella Valentina.
Stella means star, and Valentina means Healthy and strong.
The name fits her perfectly… but arriving at the name took lots of work!
We made a list and everyone vetoed until one name sounded “right” to me. Then I made the case, and her name was hers!
If you’re going for a C name – I’d vote Carly… even though there is Carly Simon – or you could go traditional and name her Catherine or Christina (after dad!).
Good luck! Whatever you choose will be beautiful!
