Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!
I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.
Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?
As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?
Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.
I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!
Other Things to consider:
Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?
Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?
So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!
Comment away!!!!

“Inness” – celtic name meaning one choice.
I think you should go with a C name that way Cash isn’t left out and it’s even. How about Camdyn Elise Powell. I do not think Camdyn is a musician so that will help with Matix as well.
I agree with Christina! Go with a ‘c’ name that isn’t famous! I like Cadence or Chole!!! Both beautiful girl names!
My first suggestion is to stick with a “C” name that does not relate to anyone famous. For the two reasons you mentioned, so neither Cash nor Matrix will feel left out. When we named my daughter we thought about who the most important people in my life were. My Grandpa, who passed away in 2011, and my Aunt. My grandpa’s name is Roy and my Aunt’s middle name is Lynn… so my daughter’s middle name is ROYLYN. You should see the looks we get when we call her Roy! Her frist name is Zandrea, because our son is a “Z” as well with Zakkariah, and my Aunt’s name is Andrea… so you have Zandrea! Anyways.. that’s my little story. So if you have some very important people in your life that you can honor with this baby’s name, I would suggest finding a way to do that. If not… I suggest Caylee Marie Powell!
My 3 kids all have “K” names, as it’s tradition in my husband’s family that all the siblings have the same first initial. As the only “C” name in our little family, I do get random comments that I should change the spelling of my name. That being said, I think going with a “C” name is a good idea as it balances out the children’s names with 2 M’s and 2 C’s. I have always loved the name Channing for a girl. I think it is unique without being odd, and strong yet feminine. Best wishes to you and yours!
If I were in your shoes, I would would pick a non-musician name and have it start with “C.” That would create a balance. I love the name Cambrey for a girl :)) Best of luck and God Bless!
I don’t think it’s necessary to do a musician name, a C name, or a M name. You could go with a H. (Chris&Cash, Heidi&???). I love the name Hattie! My daughters names are Willow & Vaeda. 🙂
I think u should go with a C name. My mom did 2 j names + to E names for me +my siblings. I’m thinking Carley, Clarissa, Caley.
Ok i completely understand where your coming from when we named our son two years ago we where in the same ordeal i went with Colt because i loved it. I heard a girls name that just stuck with me and its a beautiful unique name. i HAVE a friend who named her little girl Collins.. Its unique and it could reference the musician Phil Collins 🙂 Just a thought!!!
I think C name would be better than an M name I think Cadence (rhythmic) or Carmin (song) and then you allow Matrix to pick her middle name so that everyone is included.
