Baby Name Dilemma

Chris and Heidi Powell are looking for names for their new baby girl - Learn more at https://heidipowell.net/3590

Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!

I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.

Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?

As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?

Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.

I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!

Other Things to consider:

Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?

Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?

So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!

Comment away!!!!

  1. I like Cadence. One of my best friends in the world named her daughter that, and it’s beautiful and powerful at the same time. Middle name should be a little more neutral, just for pronunciation and writing purposes, so I’m thinking Marie or Anne. And last name Powell of course! 🙂 Love the Powell Pack and all you do!

  2. Zura Marie Powell (My Maternal grandmothers first name, (unique)
And my middle name, I just think they go with your last name.

Nora Elizabeth Powell (Nora~ my Paternal grandmothers middle name) I just like how it sounds..

  3. We had a baby girl in January and figuring out the name was so hard because whatever I liked my husband didn’t. We wanted a name that wasn’t over used and we didn’t want a real old fashioned name either. I wanted Grace but he didn’t like that so we finally agreed on Aubrey. The next decision was the middle name everybody in our family has some form of Ann as a middle name and we wanted differentso I finally got Grace. Our daughter’s name is Aubrey Grace. You are more than welcome to share her name. Aubrey Grace Powell.

  4. If you choose an “m” name, I would choose Mia. If you go with a “C” name I like the names Camryn or Cora. Any other name… I love Olivia, Penelope, & Layla.

  5. This is one of the important things we will ever decide for our children. I have three daughters myself and my youngest and my baby is my ray of sunshine. Her name is Sara Rose. I had the name picked out for all the girls but it fit her. Of course my name is Hope has gotten popular over the years as well. I am anxious to see your precious bundle and good luck with your decision. We are also a family that loves Extreme Weight Loss and look forward to the next season.

  6. I don’t know if you want to keep with M or C but my son named his first girl Abrianna. It is a beautiful name. When she was small she called herself Abi. Abrianna Powell sounds well together. Just a suggestion. My son likes to combine two names together to make one name. His other daughter he named Cierabella pronounced with the K sound. Hope this helps! Good luck on the name and may you be blessed with a healthy child.

  7. For my first daughter we chose Emilie Rae. I wanted to spell it Emma-Leigh, but my husband thought it was too long. I chose that name because I liked how it flowed together. It isn’t a unique name, but it is spelled differently! So that’s what makes it unique. My second daughter is named Juliette Marie. I picked that name, honestly, from Pinterest, lol. I saw a picture with that name and fell in love! Another girls name I like is jillian. I’m sure whatever name you chose will be beautiful and suit your daughter well! Picking a name is so difficult!
