Thanks to my inability to filter this mouth of mine, it is now known that the Powell Pack will be bringing a baby GIRL to this world in November ?. While we are beyond excited (who doesn?t love ruffle buns and bows?), I am totally stressing about one of the most important parts of having a baby: choosing the name!
I am asked on a daily basis if we have names picked out yet. I feel bad answering NO each time, but let?s be honest ? there is some pressure to this decision! A name is important. Once we choose this name for our little girl, she is stuck with it for life ? or at least for18 years, at which point she can go change it if she doesn?t like what we chose. LOL.
Let?s face it: humans are judgmental creatures. If a name is tease-worthy, you better believe that little 6 year old is going to get teased on the playground. What parent in their right mind wants to give a child a name that might add to their risk of getting teased or bullied?
As adults, we also judge based on names. Before we get to know a person, the only bit of info we have to judge by is their name. Some names sound powerful, some sound weak. Some sound prissy, and some sound sassy. Some are boring, some are wacko. As a parent, how can I be sure that the name I choose for this little innocent bundle of joy helps her more than it hurts her?
Oh the joys and stresses of parenthood.
I need your help with some suggestions! Please, please, PLEASE comment here with your baby names. Heck, I?ll even throw in a prize of some sort?I don?t know what yet, but if you throw out a winning name, and you’re the first one to suggest it, I will contact you after the baby is born and send you something awesome ;). Be sure to suggest a first, middle and last name!
Other Things to consider:
Matix and Marley both start with M. Cash is a C (obviously). Does baby #4 need to start with a C? If her name starts with an M, will Cash feel left out?
Marley and Cash both have names that come from famous musicians ? Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Poor Matix is left out. Will we need to make sure NOT to give baby #4 a name that can be related to a famous musician?
So much to think about. When you share your name suggestion, if there is a significance in why you picked it, be sure to let me know!
Comment away!!!!

I have a Ryan Dail because we followed the tradition of R.D initials on my side of the family and Dail was my fathers middle name. Today Ryan turns 13 and I also have a 14m old miracle baby from my second marriage and we knew for years we would namd him Ivan after my husbands grandfather. I really thought I would never stray from the RD initials, but loved Ivan. Good thing we had a boy we had no girl names picked out. I really love classic names. I love Margaret for a girl. You may not know till you see her and then you will just know. Congrats to your family!
I think it should be an H name since there are 2 Ms and 2 Cs in your family now. The middle name Six is fun and relative making your family a 6-pack. =) Hyacinth/Harlow/Hadley Six Powell.
I think it should have a few names and just wait until you see her. Sometimes that helps. We did this and their names are prefect for them. I also want to add a comment about the double letters…as a whole you have 2 – M’s (Matrix and Marley) and 2- C’s (Chris and Cash) what about 2-H’s? It’s a bit tougher with the letter H ..but Hilary, Haeleigh, Hannah are just a few that sound nice with Powell. As far as a middle name what about using the middle name of either of your moms or another significant woman in your lives. Lastly, go in with options so you can decide once you see her. Good luck! The Lord will put a precious name on your heart for you baby girl. Thanks for letting me chime in.
l believe Hope would be a great name. You have made it your lifes mission to give people hope and I think naming your blessing from God Hope would validate that..
I’m sure the name you pick will be beautiful but please don’t name her a food item or spell a normal name weird. Parents think it’s cute but real world will not take them seriously…especially with a name like Cinnamon. *On a side note, I like the name Carly.
LIBERTY – there was a woman at our church who was named Liberty and she lived to almost 100. She was the sweetest of souls and I’ve never forgoten that name. This could be so meaningful to the Powell clan if you think about it. I don’t think you have to stick with a specific letter – there are no rules. =) Best wishes to some pretty spectacular inspiring people!
Oh! I did find a really unique name that I loved. Lyric. As in music. 🙂 good luck to your family!
I could see Chris and you naming her Abigail. That way you to can also have a nickname for her. Like Abs or AP! As for the middle name, is there a family member that has a unique first or middle name that could fit with Abigail? I could see you making a video of her when she’s done her first kid’s run and you congratulating her saying “Way to go AP!” And Chris in the background “That’s how a Powell finishes!” LOL Good luck on whatever name you choose! No matter what it will be great:)
Hi Hiedi, it’s so sweet that you are asking for ideas to help you name your baby girl. She will be precious to you no matter what name you choose. I had a similar dilemma about 31 years ago when I had a girl after two boys. I think you should choose a name that will be hers to enjoy. Don’t worry about a particular letter of the alphabet unless the name has meaning for you. I chose a name for my daughter that I thought was beautiful (and still do). She does not like it.
How about a classic name? Audrey Joan Powell is one that could be memorable. Another name that is sweet and sounds good is Emily Sage Powell. You can’t go wrong with a classic.
Thank you for listening. Good luck with your precious gift.
Nevaeh Marie ,Cristin Heidi , daisy Mae , Carrie Lynn, there is just so many to choose from my boy middle names are family names…
