Extreme Weight Loss: Our ‘Pay It Forward’ Pro – Kenny

IMG_7794

So I know many of you have questions and concerns after last night?s episode. To answer frankly, some people just aren?t ready for this process. Most often, people come to us thinking we have some kind of magic pixie dust?we sprinkle it on, and bam?they’re skinny and all of their problems are solved. Even if they think it takes work, and they realize we aren?t magic, many also have this thing I call ?lottery syndrome.???when I win (or hit my goal weight), I?ll be happy. All problems solved.?

WRONG. The process takes a ton of hard work that Chris and I just cannot do for ANY of them?no matter how badly we wish we could sometimes. The individuals that succeed may get our guidance, but gosh darn?they are the ones that choose to wake up every morning and put the effort in. They are also the ones that choose what to put in their mouths each day?we cannot control them. And we wouldn?t want to!! Permanent change, AKA, transformation, can ONLY happen when somebody wants it bad enough to do what they need to do whether we are there or not!!!

Kenny was ready. Christy was not. It?s as simple as that.

Regarding Christy, I really do wish her well. I know how much effort Chris and I (as well as the production and ABC team) put into trying to help her transform. I know how badly we wanted this for her…and I know she is battling things that I can’t help or fix…although I wish I could.

What you didn?t see in this episode, was that Kenny was originally not chosen by us. He went as far as he could go in the casting process, and was flat out denied?and totally heartbroken. He begged us for the plan?for the roadmap to his success, so we gave it to him. ON HIS OWN, Kenny started the journey. Week after week, we watched from afar as he did this for HIM, not for the show?asking for our guidance occasionally.

As luck would have it, a spot opened up for Kenny. We KNEW he deserved this opportunity more than anyone in the world. Not a day went by after we chose him that he didn?t prove he was deserving of the opportunity.

Now Kenny and his family are lifelong friends, and huge examples for the world. Since his year with us ended, Kenny has devoted his life to helping people transform their lives just like he did.??With the launch of his website KennyOneal.com, as well as a new career in motivational speaking/health coaching, Kenny sure is “paying it forward” and making us (and his family!) proud :). This guy is the epitome of transformation!!!

  1. I am 58 years old, have just been diagnosed with borderline Diabetes 2, am not overweight but am trying to get my carbs under control and start an exercise program, do you think this book would help me?

  2. I think I need to get the book, although it would be great to have a shorter program for someone like me, or to have you guys just magically appear and walk me through! I see myself getting bigger as the years go by. Not too much, but a few pounds here and there. I am now 40 pounds over where I was when my my husband and I met almost 14 years ago. I still have my post-pregnancy weight from my last child, well over 10 years ago. My husband has gained considerably more, at about 75 pounds. I’m in that gray area, where I’m not huge, but I feel so overwhelmed by my weight and lack of healthy lifestyle so much so that I don’t know where to begin. It’s rough….

    1. Get the book! Chris and Heidi’s program can work no matter how many pounds you want to lose, and with four cycles to choose from, there’s one that will work for you! It will teach you everything you need to know and do to reach your goals. 🙂

  3. Hi Team Powell! I am a faithful follower of the show, but not of subscription television, haha! When I went to purchase this episode from Amazon Instant Video, I found that it is not available. I contacted Amazon a few hours ago and it has still not been resolved. I’m wondering where the issue is coming from, but surely someone (or many someone’s 😉 ) is losing some money somewhere because it has been two days now since it aired?

Anyway, thank you all so much for dedicating almost every single aspect of your lives to truly helping others.

  4. I’m excited there is a book now available to explain the plan! I tried to delve into the plan last October on your choose 2 lose website and was very confused at his it worked. Looking forward to purchasing the book! I do have one question though in regards to the carb cycling I will soon be welcoming a baby girl into the world and was wondering is there any modifications I would have to make to the cycling plan if I plan to breastfeed?

  5. I posted a reply earlier on my phone but it didn’t seem to take. Let me just say the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the show last night, it was amazing. It showed the two sides of human nature – one part that will succeed through sheer will and determination and the other side that is simply not ready to embark on such a journey. However we all reach our peak at our own stride. We here at Living Inspired Now are huge fans of the show because it is the true embodiement of motivation and determination. You both exhibit strength, support and perseverance and then through your various techniques you help others see it within themselves. Take care and keep up the wonderful work that you’re doing.

    1. I am soooo sorry for the duplicate entry – it was honestly not showing up. My apologies, not trying to spam.

  6. Wonderful!!! Heidi, have you consider start to make an addition of the kind of weight loss but not too extreme? I mean, include a short session in your program with people that pare obese but not at level to consider an extreme transformation or one that it could be done in short period of time….. I probable do have about 40 pounds to lose, so I would Ike to get a real perspective how this kind of transformation happens…. It could not be extreme for you ( compare with other cases presented ) but per sure for me it’s!…. #EWL fan!

    1. Chris and Heidi’s carb cycling program – the program they use on the show – can work no matter how many pounds you want to lose. They’ve put their entire program in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life,” so that we can all use the same tools they use on the show. Their book will teach you all you need to know and do to reach your goals, including daily nutrition and exercise plans. 7. Hey heidi and Chris Powell
I am a huge fan of ur show. I have been watching since the 3rd season. I can’t get enough. I am 41 yes old, I am 5 ft and 4 1/2″ tall. My weight is 160. My main problem is the food I eat. I can’t go a day without neutella. I got to have it. Fruits and veggies is something I really don’t do. But I am trying. For the last few weeks. I have been having subway for lunch. I normally get 6″ flat bread. I rollate between oven roasted chicken, turkey and ham. Veggies are luttuse, tomatoes, green pepper, red onions and spinach. On sunday I keep with the same diet like during the week. But at dinner I will eat unhealthy. What should be my calorie intake. That’s my main question. Plus do u have a cook book with easy to follow directions.

    1. Check out Chris and Heidi’s carb cycling program – the same program they use on the show – in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life.” It’s a complete nutrition and exercise program, and it will teach you everything you need to know and do to reach your weight loss goals, including daily calories counts and lots of yummy, healthy, and easy recipes. 9. Love the show last night. As it was sad to see Christy not being ready, it was awesome watch Kenny succeed. Great work Powell Family!

If I have a question to ask directly to Heidi, where can I write it at?

  10. I like the challenge of showing older people and adapting things to those withhealth/joint issues. It might be nice to see real people with real jobs and having some actual info on the food plan, the carb cycling, etc. Watching others sweat and grunt is only so helpful in knowing what you thinks work– explaining WHY things work and how to adapt the plan to those who are raising families, have to cook, work, go to meetings with junk food. Rather than screaming at folks who have lapsed, maybe some tips for getting back to plan. If we want to see coaches yell, make clients feel bad, and lose their tempers, we can watch Biggest Loser.

    1. Hi Margo: Chris and Heidi have made their carb cycling program available for all of us to use in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life.” The book outlines and explains everything you’ll need to know and do, there are lots of yummy and easy recipes, as well as detailed instructions and charts to help you all along the way.
