#11! Halloween is such a hard holiday for me! I have a sweet tooth like no other and my princess who is 3 got that gene also :). Things our family does to limit our sugar intake (I believe you have to enjoys some candy, moderation). I don’t buy candy to give to trick or treaters until that day because we will eat it! Our family loves to bike together, family walks, and homemade obstacle courses made from my 6 year old son to keep active. The day of Halloween we enjoy one of our three activities and have a healthy supper with fruits and vegetables prior to trick or treating, I find if the bellies are full the kids ( and I) aren’t shoving candy in our mouth all night! Then at the end the kids get to pick 2-3 pieces of candy and save the rest for another day. My kids are too little to know that I do this, but I take most of their candy to work the next day so it’s not hanging around the house. Don’t worry there is still enough to enjoy 🙂
#11 or #1 we try to limit one piece of candy a day. I actually started doing what you and Chris do which is let them trade in their candy for a toy if they want. 🙂
#11 candy that we get we go thru and pick out one each and save a few for later (during the week/month) the rest hand back out to trick or treaters.
I would like to request #11 to give to my family. My 4 year old grandson would be absolutely delighted. He’s been wearing his Superman costume from last year almost every day for a year,
and it is getting pretty small (up to his knees and elbows). I would probably have to PAY serious cash to get my son (a Deputy Sheriff) in to the one for him, but it would be worth every penny!
My 2 year old granddaughter and my daughter in law…no problem!
#11, We leave the candy out and when we fight off the urge to eat it we give ourselves a bigger treat (every week) like movie night OR something else fun!
#11! My oldest was browsing Halloween costumes with me online and said we needed that be the Incredibles! This year is Batman/Robin, so it’s the plan for next year and this would be perfect!
My tip to ward off Halloween sweets:
1. Buy Halloween candy that you don’t like or that won’t tempt you. I dislike Tootsie rolls, so they are always one of my purchases for Halloween
2. The day of Halloween, I make healthy treats for us – like pumpkin protein bites or chocolate protein shakes – and plan on having some ready for parents that are taking their kids out. I also make sure we eat a full supper so we aren’t hungry that night from rushing out to trick or treat – we all know the urge to cheat is the worst when we are hangry 😉
#6 – so fun!! I have two kids, boy and girl those ages that would love!
Another fun thing a few people in my neighborhood have started doing along with myself is we don’t give out candy. I have a couple neighbor’s who are dentists and they give the kids fun character toothbrushes, I have given out Halloween garb in the past and I love when the kids come home with stickers, toys or other fun things that aren’t candy!
#11!! What a fun idea to do. Thanks!
At our house the kids get to pic their favorite 10 pieces of candy and the rest we give away so it isn’t around. People always die when I tell them this and ask how I get my kids to consent, bu we have always done it this way so they are happy to do it. Probably party because I always bake healthy choices for snacks and goodies for them. 🙂
thanks again!!

Bring most of it to work for coworkers to much on! They will love it and there will be less temptation at home. With the candy that is leftover, limit to one piece per day.
#11. Our family dresses up for Halloween each year is a different theme. The incredibles would be adorable!
