  1. I’ve always dreamed of being an athlete, but that required getting off the couch. After turning 40 I needed to prove to myself that I was worth it. I got off the couch and found I love being strong and fit. This year I’m going out of my comfort zone of running a few miles and signed up for a half-marathon, as well as a duathlon. I’ve also been invited to participate in a team triathlon and the Tough Mudder. Other people have started seeing me as an athlete, this has been very motivating for me to push my own boundaries, both physically and mentally.

  2. Participating in the CrossFit Open! I’m in a rather toigh region, so im going to testing my mental toughness to push through the workouts and finish strong every week. Plus, it is my first open! 🙂

  3. This year is a change for me. I have been overweight for many years… Having PCOS doesn’t help either. I have to make a change not just for but for my family. My kids are young and i plan on being a healthy/active mother. Weight loss is not only a physical change but a mental change.

  4. This April, I am running the Fight For Air Climb in Hartford, CT. This benefits the American Lung Association. This is the first year I have signed up for this ‘race’, and it’s to support a cause that’s near and dear to me. I was diagnosed with asthma as a small child and, unless I am strictly diligent in preventative care, it can be debilitating. On top of that, I am also a firefighter. Needless to say, my health is important, as in life or death. And so, I am climbing 43 stories in full firefighter turnout gear with my fire department team to raise awareness and funds to support education for lung health.

  5. This year I’m testing my physical self by pushing myself to workout at a high weight of 230, my health is at risk. Im tired of having no energy to keep up with my two small kiddos. Ive been working out for almost a month and have lost 7 lbs. I ready for a new weight, a new healthy me, a happier me!

  6. My goal this year is to finally put myself first and just believe in me. I need to make the first step so that my family can follow. I am so addicted to the tv so I am going to put a major limit on it and no matter how tired I am I am make time for me to exercise before the kids wake up! I have to get out of my comfort zone and stop making excuses!

  7. i lost 18 lb last year,I believe if you loose slow your mind has time to adjust to the changes ,I turned 50 the beginning of January and i want to make this the best Year of my life , started jogging and did my 1st 5K run/walk in 31:41minutes and going to the gym 3/4 times a week for zumba and such and walk run on the beach when the weather gets warmer .i want to lose another 20lb and run at least a half marathon by the end of the year , i may not win it but i will finish it thanks

  8. I am attempting to become healthy enough to run my first mud marathon. I also want to push myself to hike more strenuous hikes in the mountains. I need some all terrain shoes!

  9. I have signed up to do a color run in July, it will be my first 5K and I am very excited but also scared. I have lost 75 lbs so far and still have another 40 lbs to go before I hit my goal weight which I hope to hit by the 5K. I am not a runner and have never done anything like this. I am doing the 5K to prove to myself that I can!
