  1. how do these fit in with the carb cycling – are these a snack, high carb, low carb or cheat day snack??

  2. Hi, I want to make these today, but i was wondering about the protein powder? Does it have to be a flavoured one or can be plain? Also how much is 2 scoops, is that the scoops that come with the powder????
    thanks

    1. I’ve accidentally made these bars with vanilla powder, and they were still really good. As for an unflavored powder, I don’t think they would be as good, but give it a try! And yes, the scoop size that comes with the powder. 🙂

    2. If you want it to be Peanut Butter Power FUDGE you should definitely use chocolate whey protein powder. I happen to LOVE chocolate so I even added an additional 2 TBSP of raw cacao powder and it was very yummy. It adds an extra 120 calories total divided by 48 servings to equal 2.5 calories per serving. Next time I make them I am going to decrease the oats by 1/2 cup then add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts.

These remind me of no bake oatmeal cookies which are so delicious. Thank you for this healthier recipe Heidi!

  6. So I’m pretty sure kids under 16 should not be consuming whey protein powder as it is not recommended. Other than that not a bad idea, people have to get this sensation out of their heads that carbs are bad. Unless you’re a bodybuilder prepping for a show. Carbs are an important staple to ones diet. The important thing here is that if you are trying to lose weight, you have to eat right and exercise. Your body needs fuel and not just from protein rich diets.

    1. Mike – that’s interesting. I’m curious about the reasoning behind that. Do you have more information? Thanks!

    2. If the child’s allergic to milk then it’s probably a really bad idea to give them something made with whey. Or if they have an allergy/sensitivity to any of the other ingredients. But that’s no different than an adult.
You can get plenty of good carbs from fruits and vegetables, so no one’s advocating completely removing all carbs from your diet. Your body will get fuel from whatever you put in it, but what it really needs is fuel that doesn’t suck.

  7. I have made this 3 times now. Used different nut butters and protein powders and each time it turns out amazing!!
