Extreme Weight Loss: Our ‘Pay It Forward’ Pro – Kenny

IMG_7794

So I know many of you have questions and concerns after last night?s episode. To answer frankly, some people just aren?t ready for this process. Most often, people come to us thinking we have some kind of magic pixie dust?we sprinkle it on, and bam?they’re skinny and all of their problems are solved. Even if they think it takes work, and they realize we aren?t magic, many also have this thing I call ?lottery syndrome.???when I win (or hit my goal weight), I?ll be happy. All problems solved.?

WRONG. The process takes a ton of hard work that Chris and I just cannot do for ANY of them?no matter how badly we wish we could sometimes. The individuals that succeed may get our guidance, but gosh darn?they are the ones that choose to wake up every morning and put the effort in. They are also the ones that choose what to put in their mouths each day?we cannot control them. And we wouldn?t want to!! Permanent change, AKA, transformation, can ONLY happen when somebody wants it bad enough to do what they need to do whether we are there or not!!!

Kenny was ready. Christy was not. It?s as simple as that.

Regarding Christy, I really do wish her well. I know how much effort Chris and I (as well as the production and ABC team) put into trying to help her transform. I know how badly we wanted this for her…and I know she is battling things that I can’t help or fix…although I wish I could.

What you didn?t see in this episode, was that Kenny was originally not chosen by us. He went as far as he could go in the casting process, and was flat out denied?and totally heartbroken. He begged us for the plan?for the roadmap to his success, so we gave it to him. ON HIS OWN, Kenny started the journey. Week after week, we watched from afar as he did this for HIM, not for the show?asking for our guidance occasionally.

As luck would have it, a spot opened up for Kenny. We KNEW he deserved this opportunity more than anyone in the world. Not a day went by after we chose him that he didn?t prove he was deserving of the opportunity.

Now Kenny and his family are lifelong friends, and huge examples for the world. Since his year with us ended, Kenny has devoted his life to helping people transform their lives just like he did.??With the launch of his website KennyOneal.com, as well as a new career in motivational speaking/health coaching, Kenny sure is “paying it forward” and making us (and his family!) proud :). This guy is the epitome of transformation!!!

  1. hey Heidi,
I’m a huge fan from Italy. I’d like to tell you that Christy is writing stuff about the show and about how much she dislikes you. She was full of excuses from the very beginning, but I’m so sad to read things about you while she uses Chris’s pictures as her profile pic. expecially in the last post, she says things about you. so sad about it, you have all my support. XOXO

  2. The show has been an inspiration for me, albeit second to my new grandson. I am 51 years old and at my known highest weight I was 314lbs. I am sure it was closer to 325 at one point. Since my grandson was born in March I have lost over 60 of those pounds. I started watching what I was eating and exercising. I am not dieting because I have not cut out anything from my diet. I just eat less and eat better. Dieting only makes me want what I stopped eating more. I have another 50lbs to go by February to hit my goal if 200lbs and I am finding it harder to do, mentally and physically. I walk, can’t run because of my knees, 5 miles a day 5 to 6 days a week. I also swap that out for a 10 mile bike ride at least once a week. In addition I have started pushups, leg lifts and light weight training 2 or 3 times a week. Idon’t have gym equipment or the money to buy it, or join one. I eat between 1500 and 2000 calories a day. What is your advice to keep going in order to surpass my goal.

    1. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things! And congrats on those 60 pounds lost – that’s awesome! You might check into the nutrition part of Chris and Heidi’s carb cycling program (their complete program is in their book, “Choose More, Lose More for Life.” Here are the nutrition basics: https://heidipowell.net/2713/carb-cycling-101/. In their plan you alternate low and high carb days, with 1200 calories/day on a low carb day and 1500 calories/day on a high carb day. Even if you’re not interested in their nutrition plan, if you could cut additional calories every day, that should help speed up your weight loss a bit. The exercise part of their program also requires no equipment, and you might find some ideas of other things you could do to add some variety to your exercise routine. You can do this! 🙂

  3. I love the show and love chris and Heidi both. They absolute amaze me at what they are able to do for their contestants. I want to order a book and try carb cycling to help me lose about 50 lbs. Which book is best for beginners?
