Okay, let’s have some real talk for a second! We are entering such an incredible new chapter of health and aging well, and I couldn’t wait to share this with you. In the latest episode of Heidi’s Lane, I brought on an expert I deeply respect to unpack the topic everyone is asking me about: Peptides.
Peptides aren’t just “trendy”—they are the powerful messengers our bodies use for recovery, weight loss, and staying youthful.
I’m learning so much, and I knew I had to bring you along for the ride. For the full episode, take a listen below.
Ep. 71: Are Peptides a Miracle Drug?
Guest: Dr. Chris Morris | Focus: Energy, Weight Loss, & Biohacking.
What Are Peptides?
Since peptides are such a hot topic lately, and to ensure we’re all on the same page going forward, let’s define what peptides are and what benefits they can offer us. To be totally transparent, I remember asking about peptides, and someone’s like, “Oh, it’s all hype. Like they don’t actually work.” And before my convo with Chris, I’ve had peptides sitting in my fridge for I don’t know how long. I bought them, but in my mind, what has been planted in my head is that they probably aren’t going to work right. I’m so happy to say how wrong I was!
Peptides are amino acid chains linked together to achieve a specific physiological purpose. After the age of 30, the body begins to “turn off” certain biological processes due to oxidative stress and dietary factors. Peptides act as “messengers” that activate specific receptors to turn those vital processes back on. What biological processes are we talking about?
- Human growth hormone
- Metabolic processes
- Anti-aging responses
- Muscle maintenance and recovery
- Healing and Tissue Repair
- Cellular energy and metabolism
Chris offers this simplified definition to answer “What Are Peptides”: Amino acids are the words in a sentence, and peptides are the whole sentence (that amino acid chain). Combined, they create a result you’re trying to achieve.
What results and benefits are we talking about when it comes to peptides? Peptides can help with weight loss (and managing “food noise”), metabolism reset, skin health, anti-aging (yes, please!), injury and surgery recovery, better sleep, muscle preservation + growth, lacking libido, and more.

So, how safe and legitimate are peptides? First of all, it’s crucial that you discuss the use of peptides with your healthcare provider. It’s just as crucial that you only purchase peptides from FDA-monitored compounding pharmacies (503A or 503B) rather than the online “gray market,” which often offers products labeled as “for research purposes only” (to bypass safety regulations) and “not for human consumption.” You can also never be quite sure what you’re actually putting into or on your body with any online “gray market” products. These FDA-monitored facilities are overseen by the FDA and state boards of pharmacy to ensure the purity and accuracy of any peptide products as well as dosages.
Peptides vs. Semaglutide: What Works for Weight Loss
One of the areas where peptides are changing lives is all about weight loss, and while “Big Pharma” doesn’t often talk about this, weight loss tools like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are actually peptides that can help people lose weight. And while I was also initially skeptical about using peptides for weight loss, my perspective has definitely changed. But…and this is a huge BUT…we have to remember that
when trying to lose weight, no matter what method we’re using, our bodies don’t strategically “choose” where that lost weight comes from. They pull from whatever is available, and that can include muscle. Which is so not good.
To have successful long-term weight loss, especially using peptides that can cause quick weight loss, Chris always works with his patients to ensure they’re eating enough protein (a minimum of 120g/day), following a nutritious diet, and moving their bodies consistently. This is advice I can get behind 100%! Those three things are the key to weight loss—no matter what plan you’re following.
You’ve probably heard about Semaglutide and Tirzepatide—two peptide formulas linked to weight loss, and if you’re like me, understanding the difference between these two peptide formulas can be confusing. Let’s dive deeper into each one.
The Next Generation of Weight Loss
Comparing the “Big Three” in Metabolic Health
1. Semaglutide
Targets one receptor: GLP-1. Helps manage blood sugar and reduce diabetes-related risks, but can lead to nausea or GI issues.
2. Tirzepatide
Targets two receptors: GLP-1 and GIP (the “fullness” hormone). This dual-approach often means fewer side effects than Semaglutide.
3. Retatrutide
The “new kid” targeting GLP-1, GIP, and Glucagon. By increasing energy expenditure and fat metabolism, it’s a metabolic powerhouse.
All three of these peptide formulas can help eliminate “food noise,” that often uncontrollable and constant drive to have to eat or drink something. I know from working with our past contestants on Extreme Weight Loss and with other clients over the years that even though they’ve lost a lot of weight, that food noise is often the deciding factor as to whether or not they keep the weight off. Food noise is real, my friends. And if we don’t learn ways to decrease or eliminate that noise, successful long-term weight loss can be extremely difficult. For me, I don’t have food noise anymore—it’s not the thing that I think about from the moment I wake up until the moment I go to sleep. I can now actually focus on being a better mom, being a better partner, and life in general.

How Peptides Support Muscle Preservation and Anti-Aging
As I’ve grown older and wiser, my audience has done the same, and so the majority of females my content resonates with are either perimenopausal or in or through menopause…that time of life when we start to age, our hormones shift, estrogen levels plummet, and we have a harder time maintaining muscle mass.

With aging, I’ve often asked myself, “What would help with my collagen and my fine lines and my wrinkles? Almost give me a little bit of a glow?” If you’re in your 40s and beyond, I’m sure you’ve asked yourself the same questions. Yes, treatments like Botox are options, and I’ve done Botox many times in the past with great results. But I have not had Botox for seven months. Financially, I’m trying to do less of it, and when you use Botox, you’re paralyzing muscles, and there’s a part of me that’s like, “Gosh, I wonder if there’s something better?”
There is, there certainly is something better than Botox, and that thing was introduced to me by Chris as the anti-aging peptide formula—the “Glow” Protocol, made up of GHK-Cu (also known as Copper Peptide Serum) and Snap 8, which can be added to your favorite skincare and hair products. Both of these peptide formulas can reduce fine lines, relax facial muscles (similar to the effects of Botox), boost elasticity, protect the skin, improve skin texture, and help with skin hydration. I’ve personally seen the “glowing” results from both of these products.

Along with aging, trying to protect and keep our muscle mass can be problematic as we get older. Muscles recover slower after working out, and the age-related decrease of muscle mass means we lose strength and our metabolisms slow down. Ugh. Even if I don’t have an injury, the idea of having my muscles recover quicker after a workout means that I can lift heavier the next time I go to the gym, which will create more muscle mass, which then increases my metabolic rate and my ability to burn fat. It’s a continuous cycle that peptides can help keep running as efficiently as possible. Chris shared that one peptide product that is widely used for preserving lean muscle mass and drastically accelerating recovery after exercise or injury is the “Wolverine Protocol BPC-157,” which includes the powerful peptide combo of BPC-157 and TB-500.
Wellness for the Modern Woman: Libido, Sleep, and Brain Fog
We deal with a LOT these days, ladies. And when we hit our 30s and beyond, our bodies can become something we don’t even recognize anymore, especially with our changing libidos, sleep issues, and that darn brain fog that makes us feel like we’re literally walking around in…well..a fog. It can be so frustrating! Our libidos can take a hit, and we can experience such female-related issues like vaginal dryness, no sex drive, changes in pH that can lead to infections, new odors, and more. So…what do we do? I don’t know about you, but I’m not willing to live with any of these issues! When it comes to a lacking libido, thankfully, Chris has an answer that can help: Peptide PT-141 (also known as Bremelanotide) which can be used by both men and women. When taken about an hour before intercourse, this peptide helps to naturally increase your desire, or mental drive for intimacy rather than just affect physical blood flow as is the case with other libido-enhancing remedies.
Poor quality sleep can also be a big issue as we get older, and if our sleep is suffering, everything else can suffer. And yes, Chris has a peptide solution for sleep issues too: Sermorelin. How does it work? Sermorelin helps you sleep better and more deeply, which increases the natural production of Human Growth Hormone (HGH). HGH helps with some crucial processes in our bodies: Organ and tissue growth (including muscle preservation and recovery!) and metabolism.
Lastly, let’s talk about that brain fog—another thing we get to experience as we age. This fog can include cognitive difficulties and memory issues too. Such fun stuff. Of course, Chris and his team have some peptides in their tool kit that can help with all-things-brain-fog too:
- Semax: Specifically used for cognition and improving memory.
- MOTS-c: Impacts ATP metabolism, which can lead to increased mental clarity and improved metabolic rates. One of the things that I’ve noticed after using MOTS-c is mental clarity. Wow…it is amazing. And I feel like my metabolism, for whatever reason, has taken a step from there to here, which is right where I want it to be.
- NAD+IV: Combats exhaustion and chronic illness. As many of you might know, I’ve been battling Epstein-Barr and fatigue for years, and this peptide has been a game-changer for me.
Ep. 65: Estrogen & The Vagina Conversation We Need
Guest: Dr. Rhadhika Sharma | Focus: HRT, Sex Drive, & Aging Gracefully.
I know this was a lot of info, but I truly believe we are in a new era of “Metabolic Intelligence.” We don’t have to just accept “getting older” as an excuse to feel exhausted or uncomfortable in our own skin.
Whether it’s through the right peptides, fueling with enough protein, or showing up for yourself in the gym, you have the power to be the CEO of your own health! I am so curious—have you tried peptides yet? Or are you still in the “skeptical” phase like I was? Come over to Instagram and let’s chat about it! I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you. Let’s keep growing wiser, stronger, and more vibrant together.
