Here are some of my favorite prep and organization tools:

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1493047051448?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’); <br />

  1. Hi Heidi I love what you and your husband do. I’m a mom of 2 sons age 6 and 9. My son is 80lbs at 9. I want to try and get all of us eating healthy. But I don’t have money for nutrition plans or the gym.

  2. I love this post. I also have fridge curiosity. Great timing too because I’m spring cleaning and going grocery shopping today. πŸ™‚

  3. I am allergic to all nuts and beef, what substitutes can I use, for example, I can’t drink nut milk?

    1. BTW…I bought your book today and it looks like this will finally work for me, yay.

    2. Hi Angela: If you’re allergic to nuts, then I’d use water for your protein shakes and skim milk on things like cereal. You could eat chicken or pork in place of any beef products too. πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Love the the article of what’s in your fridge what is the sweetener you add to water if you can say please.

  5. What is the recommendation for using coconut milk rather than almond milk? I’ve read that the store bought almond milk is more water than actual almond milk.

    1. Hi Jennie: Coconut milk is not recommended due to the high calorie count and fat per serving. For example, a cup of lite coconut milk has around 180 calories and 16 grams of fat, while a cup of unsweetened almond milk has around 30 calories and 2.5 grams of fat. Hope that helps!

    2. The coconut milk I buy shows only 45cal and 4g fat per 8oz serving (has organic coconut cream and coconut water). It’s organic and unsweetened. It’s a little more than almond milk but does provide a creamier taste to the shakes. Maybe you were thinking of the canned version?

  6. Hi Heidi Powell Team!

Heidi is always offering advice and tips for other people and I just heard in the video she has some kidney issues so I thought I would let her know of what I use.

I was getting UTIs and kidney infections monthly so I finally saw a specialist and she recommended Ellura. It’s a cranberry supplement that has changed my life. I no longer get infections and don’t have to drink gallons of juice.

If Heidi is ever looking for something new she can try them! πŸ™‚

*FYI: This is 100% my own opinion and I am not sponsored by any company or doctor.

  7. I LOVE the tip about pre washing, cutting and storing fruits and veggies! We throw away produce too often and I love the convenience and clutter free look!

  8. Loved this!! I was hoping for an update to the last blog you did on your fridge. I’m also very curious about the water flavorings you guys use.

    1. The fridge Chris has in the closet is what I have in my kitchen…. it works just fine for us.

    1. Why wouldn’t they? Nothing better on the market. Vemma isn’t going anywhere πŸ˜‰

  9. Thanks Heidi for sharing and definitely learned some tips I can start using with my family… Going to look into that liquid gold too ?

  10. I love the idea of storing everything in containers – it made it look so clutter free!! BUT – am I the only one that had an anxiety attack because the fridge door was opened that long?! ?

  11. You guys are too cute!!!
Heidi, do you ever use soy milk?
I’m not a big fan of almond milk.
    Is almond better than soy?

    1. Chris and Heidi really like unsweetened almond milk, but you can totally use unsweetened soy milk too! Cup for cup, soy has about 80 calories and almond milk has about 30 calories (depending on which brand you buy), so keep that in mind.

  12. It was fun to see what is in your fridge, but what I loooooved is your closet!! I have a big walk in closet, although not THAT big lol, filled with shoes cuz I have have a shoe passion (sounds nicer than obsession ?) Looks like you might too, haha! Your closet is gorgeous, girl!!! πŸ™‚

  13. Was that wine/champagne on the top shelf?! I would have LOVE to see you acknowledge that in the video! My evening (though not every evening) glass is one of my few remaining vices that I kind of refuse to give up, so I’d love to learn more from you about how/if you are able to incorporate that indulgence into your life!

  14. LOVE the Walden Farms Dressings….but you didnt even mention them. No calorie dressings that are more flavourful than many of the high calorie ones in my opinion. Glad I’m not the only one ?

  15. Omg!!! I am so happy to see you have butter spray in your fridge!! (And your fridge is BEAUTIFULLY organized–i love it!!) Thank you for sharing!

  16. Very cool to have a peek in your refrigerator! I wish the Bod-e was sweetened with Stevia!!! I would totally drink them. I do love the vemma and verve products, though.

  17. I wish I could have seen the fridge before you’d cleaned and organized it…something about being super transparent that I love!

I have seven children so we go through a bunch of food. I follow the carb-cycling lifestyle and I have a really cool caddy that I got super cheap that I fill with my hard-boiled eggs, string cheese, pre-measured plain greek yogurt, almonds, etc. So I can just grab my food and go! Also, the kids never have to wonder if they can eat something that I might have planned for my meals. I’ve got a blogpost coming on low-carb life hacks…I’ll try to finish that up soon!

  18. Thank you for sharing your life with us, Heidi. You are such an inspiration and a wonderful role model to women everywhere. As a working mom of 2, I struggle with what to feed my kids when we are in a hurry. This was super helpful to see what your kids can grab and go. Thank you for opening up your life, and your fridge, to us. <3

  19. Hey Heidi! That is for sure not Tupperware! πŸ™‚ If you need some Tupperware, contact me! Love that you shared your fridge with us and gave us some helpful tips along the way!

  20. So cool to sneak a peek at what you eat on a daily basis.

I had no idea you have kidney issued. I have chronic kidney disease and although I feel fine, I am always weary of all the protein most diets require to build muscle. I would love to see a post about your kidney issues and how you would tailor diet/food choices for this with impaired kidney function.
