Kindness Transforms Lives || 12 Days of RAOKs + GIVEAWAY

Pretty twinkling lights, giddy kids, a million not-so-healthy eats and treats, cooler temps, and lots of family time—this time of year is hands-down my favorite! I’ll be the first to admit it: Sometimes Chris and I get so wrapped up in our work that we don’t have time to stop and smell the roses, but something about the holiday season stops us in our tracks and forces us to slow down and enjoy the things that matter most! I love staying up late watching a Christmas movie with my kiddos (a real rarity around here!) or watching as sweet Cash carefully puts together his lists of wants from Santa. Everything about this season screams magic. Well, almost everything.

While the holiday season is a favorite for so many, I know firsthand how incredibly painful it can be at times. For years after losing my dad, milestones and holidays—especially Christmas—served more as a reminder of what was lost than what I had. It can be so difficult to watch friends and family celebrating with the ones they love most when the one we love most is no longer with us.

I know, unfortunately, I am not alone in these feelings. As wonderful and bright as the holidays are, it’s easy to allow the light of the season to be dimmed when you’re going through any kind of trial in your life. Whether it be illness, financial setbacks, family problems, work problems, discouragement, loneliness, anxiety or depression—or so many other things that can make it hard to put on that happy holiday face—these trials make us want to hibernate until Santa’s sleigh makes it back to the North Pole and we can get on with our routine lives. Know this though…YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and YOU CAN GET OUT OF THIS MINDSET!!!

Before I tell you HOW to shift your perspective and make these holidays cheery and bright again, know this: From the bottom of my breaking heart, I really do wish I could wrap my arms around each and every one of you who are struggling, tell you it’s all going to be okay, and let you know how beautiful YOU are…and of course feed you healthy chocolate and tell you how nice your booty is. 😉 #kiddingnotkidding

So here’s the deal…I am about to talk transformation for a second, but it all ties together at the end, so just bear with me. I know that over the years I have talked your ear off about the many physical aspects of transformation, and at times (especially on social media), I’ve even touched on parts of transformation you can’t see with the human eye—the REAL meat and potatoes of it all. It has nothing to do with the number on the scale, the size of your pants, or how much weight you can lift. TRUE transformation comes from within and has everything to do with LOVING YOURSELF.

If you’ve heard that once, you’ve heard it a million and a half times from me. But the fact of the matter is that if you don’t learn to love yourself, your ability to love anyONE or anyTHING else (including the holiday season) is strongly handicapped. You’ll find yourself aimlessly wandering through life, wondering why or how everyone around you is happily living the perfect life while YOU are left to clean up the pieces of what seems like a disaster. All while asking questions like, “Why me? Why this trial? Why do holidays—and life—have to hurt so much?”

So HOW do we dig ourselves out of this dark hole of despair? How do we learn to love ourselves, and consequently, learn to love the holidays—even when times might be excruciatingly tough?

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
– Mahatma Ghandi

By turning our focus AWAY from ourselves and onto others in need, not only will we naturally experience a higher level of appreciation for the things we do have, but we will also be better able to notice others’ needs, be more empathetic, and feel more compassion for others and what they are going through. Because the truth is that we are NOT ALONE (although often we like to think we are the ONLY ones that hurt). If we are feeling any kind of pain this holiday season, it is highly likely that those around us are feeling it in one way or another as well.

In the age of social media, where “highlight reels” are all we see, it seems that everyone is leading perfect, happy lives, but that is certainly not the case. Every single person on planet Earth is battling some sort of personal trial right now—small or large—despite what appearances may say. By serving others, we will not only lift our pain and hurt (because…it’s NOT all about “me”), but we will help lift their pain and hurt as well.

And let’s not forget—serving others is what the holidays are really about, right? In an effort to help keep our focus on the spirit of serving others this season, as well as aid in continuing your own transformation journey, I’d like to challenge every single one of you to participate in a “12 Days of Kindness” challenge. Each day, I want you to do simple Random Acts of Kindness (RAOKs) for the people in your life. It can be anything…for anyone…even the homeless man needing food on the corner. Over the 12 days of focusing on giving instead of getting, I can promise you a hole will be filled in your heart, and you will have effectively made a positive impact in the lives of those you’ve touched.

Here are some RAOK ideas to get you started—and many don’t cost you a single cent…

  • Let someone cut in front of you in traffic without getting irritated.
  • Be kind to someone who is grumpy. Those you feel least deserve it usually need it the most.
  • Smile at someone. This small gesture goes a long way.
  • Clean out your closets and toys before Christmas and give to those in need. Better yet, donate presents you get to them for the holiday.
  • Allow the impatient woman and child at the store to go in front of you in line. You never know what they are dealing with back at home.
  • Send a thoughtful text or email…to anyone, but especially someone who you tend to hold back with. Your approval and love will mean so much, I guarantee.
  • Open the door for someone.
  • Buy coffee for the person behind you in the Starbuck’s drive-thru.
  • Give your spare change to the homeless person you see on the side of the road. As tough as it can be sometimes to give money when you don’t know where it is going, the fact of the matter is that it’s not about YOU…it’s about them. Your act of service and kindness WILL matter, regardless.
  • Say the 3 powerful words, “I love you,” more often. You really never know when this just might be your last opportunity.

While RAOKs are amazing to do alone, they are even better to do with the kiddos and family in tow. Not only will they have so much fun GIVING, but you’ll be setting an example of kindness that will transform their lives too!

So to get us started, here are MY Random Acts of Kindness…

My ROAK today is that I used one of your ideas and bought coffee for the person behind me at Dunkin Donuts. Thank you for the giveaway!

  2. Maddy farrer - December 26, 2017

I am entering for the 23rd, around the Christmas season I hate to see others that are less than fortunate it really makes me feel appreciative for what I have. Knowing that some are less fortunate that others nothing brings greater joy to me other than giving to others.
I live near by a big shopping mall where homeless people can be found, after walking by a homeless woman with her dog I couldn’t help but cry, here I am Christmas shopping yet I don’t stop to think of those that don’t even have a place to live, with my Christmas money I went to the nearest store bought a sweater, gloves and scarf for this woman. I also went to the nearest ATM to withdraw money so her and her dog could have something to eat. As I gave this woman all the gifts it gave me the best feeling in the world. I almost felt selfish with how amazing I felt just by serving someone else. I was just blessed that I was in a position at the time that I could help bless someone else.

  3. Tamika Herrera - December 26, 2017

My random act of kindness this season was to stop and make conversation with people I came across or even stood in line with whether at the grocery store or in line at Wal-Mart. My reason behind this is we have learned all too well that there are those who are fighting demons in their personal lives. We’ve had friends succumb to those demons and take their own lives. I just figured that if I could at the very least start a small conversation with each person and listen genuinely, maybe it would give them a glimpse of kindness and hope where there may not have been any. I plan to continue this act throughout 2018!

  4. Meagen - December 24, 2017

One of my favorite things to do is pay for the person behind me in the drive through….yes go there all too often! I know how it makes me feel when I am on the receiving end of this but even better when you are the one to give!

  5. Melissa - December 24, 2017

Picked up coffee and cocoa for the family today 🙂 spreading the cheer!

  6. J - December 24, 2017

I am an EMT/FF. Every year at Christmas, I go to the local kwik mart and buy a $5 gift card for each police officer and dispatcher in our town. It is my small token of thanks to those who provide valuable information and protection to me as a means for me to do my job and provide to others. They have my back when I am sticking out my own neck to help another.

  7. Robert Hardin - December 24, 2017

My name is Robert Hardin. I like to surprise my wife and kids with coffee and hot cocoa!

  8. Kelly Hardin - December 24, 2017

Christmas can be a hard time of year missing those we lost. Although we don’t have much, I got cordial cherries for those in our family as my Grandma who’s no longer with us always loved passing them out. I know it will mean so much to my mother!

  9. Connie Williams - December 24, 2017

I held the door for a lady who had her hands full with water in one hand and a sick child in the other at the pediatric clinic.

  10. Dawn C. - December 24, 2017

Love this! I try to do some sort of ROAK every year at the holidays. The other day I bought lunch for the person behind me in the drive through. Last night my husband and I dropped lottery tickets with a note in 10 unsuspecting shopper’s carts at the grocery store. The challenge of dropping the ticket without them seeing is so fun. My husband is the champion after he threw one in a lady’s handheld basket! (:

  11. Alita Lynette - December 24, 2017

As I was leaving our crowded Connecticut Target 🎯 finishing last minute Christmas shopping and picking up items for my 5th grade students this week, there was a homeless woman in need outside of the store. My husband and I took her to subway to buy a sandwich for her & gave her money for groceries. She cried, and was so grateful just for a sub from subway & money for groceries. Afterwards we talked with her & we prayed with her. It’s sometimes difficult to know who is really in need & who is not, but I truly believe that when you bless others, even if they have intentions that may not be completely pure of heart, God always finds a way to bless you. However, the RAOK is not for the personal blessing, for it is to fill the need and to bring a moment of hope, love, and peace to someone who may have lost hope in this world.

  12. Jen - December 24, 2017

My random act of kindness was buying gifts for a couple of people who couldn’t afford it.

    Wonder Lake, IL

  13. SHERRY - December 24, 2017

I was out doing some last min shopping and waited and smiled at like 10 people who walked pasted me in target even though i was in a hurry also i waited for them to pass by then i was able to go by and one lady i past several times she smiled and said i made her day. A smile goes a long way the 12th day of xmas is a great one

  14. Stephanie - December 24, 2017

It’s been a hectic month in our family. As a single mom juggling two jobs, I’ve been stressed and anxious trying to get through the holidays, and I haven’t spent much quality time with my boys. It’’s created some tension in my home with my kids and we’ve all been on edge. A couple of days ago, I came home late from work again, to a messy house, two lazy boys and the usual bickering. My typical response would be to get angry, bark orders at my kids, and spend the rest of our evening holed up in our rooms being upset with each other. Instead, I told them to get in the car, we were going out. We went out to dinner, saw a movie, and went to the mall where I made my two annoyed teenage boys sit on Santa’s lap for a picture (that was their punishment lol). We ended the night with hot chocolate, driving around to see Christmas lights. It ended up being a great night, eased the tension in our house, and the next day I come home to a cleaner house and two happier boys. Sometimes responding to stress and bad attitudes with kindness within our own families can turn an entire week around, and it was a huge lesson for me as well!

  15. Letitia - December 24, 2017

    I bought someone a Starbucks Drink 🙂

  16. Rachel W - December 24, 2017

I work in healthcare and have a patient who I’ve seen for many months now. She has had my husband and I over for dinner and she has shared a lot with me. Recently she opened up about her son’s tragic death I knew nothing about previously. I encouraged her as best I knew how and as the date of his death approached I sent her flowers and just a note to remind her she is loved by many.

  17. Letitia - December 24, 2017

I have a ugly Christmas Outfit :). It is actually my first time wearing something like this for Christmas, which means I stepped out of my comfort zone. I wore the outfit to work and then to a rehab home to visit a family member. I also wore it to Costco and the mall for a few errands. I was nervous at first but the reaction I got from people actually really warmed my heart. I made people smile, laugh and say that is the spirit. One girl told me I totally made her day.

  18. Joann - December 24, 2017

My friends mother passed away last week. She has been away in OH for the funeral. Saturday my daughter and me delivered her a gift card to her favorite restaurant and a loaf of bread from kneaders. We were her secret santa and it taught my daughter a lot. Entering for day 12

  19. Nadia A - December 24, 2017

    Nadia from Edmond, Oklahoma!

The few days leading up to Christmas my son and I always cook dinner for a local fire station. Usually just call them up, find out how many people are working that night & whip
Something up! My 8 year gets excited every year to walk in and chat with the great men & women that protect our country. A lot of times, they are working holidays so a home
Cooked meal really keeps a smile on their face and thank them for their service!

  20. Sarah Harris - December 24, 2017

I am new to the apartment complex I live in. I know that for some Christmas is not always a Joyful time of year. For some it can be lonely and sad. So, I wanted those around me to make sure they knew that someone cared. I made cookies for 4 of my immediate neighbors and cupcakes for the office staff and maintanence. I know it isn’t healthy, but I wanted them to know that they are appreciated and seen.

I had a two in one kind of major surgery this past Tuesday and found out that afternoon that a friend of a friend (I’ve met him once) doesn’t have anyone in town so doesn’t do holidays. So after a few days when I was more mobile I made him a stocking and filled it with goodies. A different friend I had found out wanted a blanket for her baby (4 months) but didn’t know how to make it so made it for her and gave it to the baby for Christmas. Did mommy and me blankets for her and his big sister. And as mad as my husband gets I still give homeless people a couple bucks. The gifts I made yesterday and delivered today. The smiles and happiness made my weekend and even helped the pain from surgery lighten a little.

  22. Katherine Zurita - December 24, 2017

My mom is a single mom & always gets kind of sad around the holidays, as it’s usually a time that people share with their significant others. So today, I wrote her a really long letter telling her how much I love her and appreciate having her in my life, how beautiful and kind she is, and how I am so lucky to have a mother like her. I set it next to her coffee mug so she could read it before she starts her day. ❤️

  23. Rachiel - December 24, 2017

Today I saw the cleaners at the gym wiping the mirrors and I realized that I appreciate their work, but they probably never get thanked for it. So I went up and thanked them for all they do and for making the gym look nicer.
Then when I went to the grocery store I was walking to put my cart away after shopping. I noticed that all of the carts where in a disarray and well outside of the cart holder. It’s cold here in Utah so I decided to spend the next 5-10 minutes neatly stacking and collecting the carts. The worker who had to collect carts today probably had no idea what the carts looked like before, but hopefully I saved him a couple of minutes out in the cold 🙂

  24. Alex McKen - December 24, 2017

    Day 12-Parker, CO

I had just finished loading my kids into the car when I saw an elderly lady carrying tons of packages inside the post office and wasn’t able to get the doors open. I rushed inside to open the doors and offered to help carry her packages to her car. She was extremely grateful and it was a great opportunity to show my 3 year old (my son is too young still) that there are opportunities to serve if we just take the time to look around.

  25. Rachael canfield - December 23, 2017

I donated clothes and shoes to a family in need instead of keeping them for Christmas for my family. I also took three friends who have been struggling in different ways on a girls night my treat.

  26. David judd - December 23, 2017

Love this giveaway idea to get folks focused on RAOK!!! Thanks Heidi!!
Today we took our 10 year old daughter to Forgotten Carols with her grandfather. We donated $$ to the charity for homeless youth they sponsored in the program. I gave the $$ to my daughter to give to the volunteers, she was so excited to give the money away! Great program and fun way to connect.

    Dave, SLC, UT

  27. Lisa - December 23, 2017

My RAOK is to smile at and thank every single person that helps me in stores or provides some type of customer service act for me. I have worked retail in the past and I know how the employees are working long hours for not much money and dealing with a lot of rude people. So I try to brighten their day and be polite and kind and let them know I appreciate their hard work. It’s amazing how much it means to them to know that someone cares……..

  28. Amy Allen, Longview Wa - December 23, 2017

I always put a dollar in the Salvation Army bucket no matter what, evem if i have to find change on the bottom of my purse. My family and I ran the bell last Christmas and raised 2,108 in honor of my Grandpa who was head of the Christmas center.

  29. Krystle - December 23, 2017

My RAOK for today is loving on and encouraging our foster babies dad. IWe have had her 8 of her 13 months of life and she just got unsupervised visits with her dad and my husband and I are trying to make the transition as smooth as possible. We want him to know we have his back and are here to help him stay on the right path.

    Krystle Williams- Oklahoma

  30. Jessica Billington - December 23, 2017

I ran into a store to grab some crafts for the kids. A woman was at the register with two men trying to decide who would have to put what back in order to pay for their purchase. After checking out, I handed her some money before wishing them a Merry Christmas and leaving. While finances are tight for us, being able to help brighten someone’s day was worth it.

    Jessica, IL, USA

  31. Sydnee Neilson - December 23, 2017

Today I helped an elderly man at the Christmas crazy grocery store. He didn’t speak English very well and he had no idea where to find the cranberry sauce that he needed for the holidays. Turns out all the canned cranberry sauce was out of stock so I let him know they also sell it in the deli. 💚❤️

  32. Ale Ray - December 23, 2017

Today my family picked up tortillas in rocky point for friends and family back in Az. This Mexican family makes the best tortillas in a tiny room. The family has two boys who are always there playing with small trucks while their parents cook the tortillas. So my family went to the store bought and wrapped gifts for them. We came back and asked the parents if we can drop the gifts for them. We put them in the back of their van without the boys noticing:) Feliz Navidad🎄

  33. Jeanette Marie - December 23, 2017

This is difficult to answer….I might have to step my game up. There are things that I do several times a day to show “RAOK”, or maybe it’s just being a kind person or trying to make someone’s day. I consistently open doors/hold doors, help “stranded” drivers, mow my neighbor’s yard every other month, volunteer at the school/ bring lunch for the front office staff, often allow drivers to “cut” in front of me. This has my thinking of other things I can do for others.

  34. Krista - December 23, 2017

Today my act of kindness was to the lady at the grocery store. I could tell she was in a hurry so I let her cut in front of me.

  35. Kelli Thedford - December 23, 2017

I hugged an elderly lady in the grocery store that shared with me she lost her husband four months ago after 72 years of marriage. I’ve prayed for that sweet stranger all day today knowing this Christmas will be hard. 😭

  36. Getsemani - December 23, 2017

My sister and I drove down to our home town in Mexico to an orphanage to collect letters from the teens staying there. Each letter (30 of them) specified what each teen wished for on christmas. We brought the letters back to the United States and used social media to ask friends and family for help fulfilling each teen’s wish. We received many donations from friends and family. My sister then, took in the labor of putting the gifts together and organizing care packages that included blankets, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant etc. For each teen. On December 17th, we drove back to mexico and delivered the presents for these kids. We took #LoveUp to another country and the pleasure of doing so was even greater. Their faces when they opened the gifts were priceless and make me so excited to do this again next year! I am located in phoenix arizona. 85041

  37. Courtney Howard - December 23, 2017

Today at Walmart I tried being super happy/smiley to everyone and let people cut in front of me through the busy aisles! It can be frustrating during the holidays with all of the people so I tried to just act as if I wasn’t in a hurry!! Would love the staycation!!!

    Queen Creek, AZ!!

  38. Desiree - December 23, 2017

Today at my boyfriend’s family Christmas party we were about to play uno and my boyfriend’s cousin’s step son wanted to play but needed help but his dad wasn’t in there so I helped him. Little kids are so happy and cute when they can be involved.

  39. Heather Sabatino - December 23, 2017

My family and I donated craft supplies to be given in care packages to families in need for the holidays. I also explained to my son why we give to those less fortunate so he understands that some people don’t always have everything they need. It was a great lesson for him to keep in mind for the future – to always see the need for random acts of kindness!
    Heather, North Carolina

  40. Lindsey - December 23, 2017

I saw a woman get hit by a lifted truck.. immediately we pulled over and tried to make sure the lane was blocked off until emergency responders could show up. the car behind me pulled by and asked what happened and so I quickly filled her in. Thankfully she was a nurse and so we were able to aid according to her instructions. I took my jacket off and gave it to the nurse to use to cover the woman’s body (as it was POURING rain) as soon as the ambulances and fire trucks pulled up to the scene I got in my car and left to finish my errands. While I truly had very little to do with the event, I ran into the nurse at the bank, and I felt like it was God saying we were both at the right place at the right time. So I reached into my purse and grabbed out the Starbucks gift card (that I received from a coworker) and gave it to the nurse. I can’t imagine the job she has, and that she aided someone in need after her 12 hour shift in the pouring down rain. There’s still great people out there doing the most amazing things! It makes me exceedingly hopeful for our future. ❤️ -lindsey, WA

Love having the ability to do random acts of kindness. Honestly this month on the first day I got the idea to do one random act each day. Some have been dropping off a delicious random coffee, I took baked goods and dropped off at my neighbors, brought Theraflu to a sick friend but my most memorable was at the mall today. I had gone to City brew and decided to buy a 5$ gift card to give away. I put it in my pocket and waited for the right person. I saw this volunteer ringing a bell outside a department store. She had her small 3 children with her too. Instantly my heart went out to her! Then I watched this mall cop walk up and be so rude telling her she was over the store line. So instead of laying into security I waited until he left and walked up to her, handed her the gift card and said, “you could probably use this today and Merry Christmas”. Walking away it was the best feeling. I live my life by doing acts of kindness whenever I can. And in my husband’s words never fail to give anything I can for hugs and kisses lol.

Today the clients in my small community gym took 18 new bikes and helmets to teenagers who live in low income housing right beside our gym. After our morning workout, we took the bikes and dropped them at the kid’s doors. They were completely surprised! At one house a lady said she had nothing for Christmas and she had been praying for help. And then we showed up on her doorstep unannounced. All of the bikes were donated by clients at the gym. Our community was full of Christmas love this morning.

My family was together today at the dinner table and my dad made a HORRIBLE dad joke. Instead of calling him out on it like I normally would, I kindly laughed at his joke and made him feel like a joke genius.

  46. Rachael Guyant - December 23, 2017

I live in Queen Creek, AZ. My husband is a cop and works crazy long hours. He is the one who takes care of the dog (ya know. Cleaning up the 💩) and picks up the backyard. Our dog pulled a bag of trash out of the bin and tore it apart, leaving trash all over the yard. My husband said he would pick it up, but I took the time to do it for him. My little boy and I also picked up a lot of the poop. Lol. Little things really do go a long way!

  47. Robyn Hansen - December 23, 2017

I live in Cranbrook, BC. My husband, kids and i delivered plates of goodies to a few of our neighbors. One is an elderly lady who lives by herself….it’s just a fun easy way to say merry Christmas and brighten someone’s day 🙂

  48. Kristen - December 23, 2017

I was having a bad day. Just one of those days…you know how it is. Nothing seems to be going right. At first I decided to let the day win. I went to frys to get gas and as I was leaving I saw a woman asking for help. I didn’t have much to give but I gave her the cash that I had in my wallet. My mood immediately changed. It’s funny because helping others is almost always a gift to yourself.

Okay, I am posting for the day 12! I am originally from South Haven/Holland Michigan. I will let a secret out here on your blog… I am a Secret Sticky Bandit! I travel a lot for work and drinking a lot of water means stopping in a lot of restrooms. I carry a small sticky pad and pen with me and before I go in, I write at least one note that is positive and stick it to the mirror when nobody is looking. They say tho ha like “You are absolutely beautiful !” Or “Has anyone told you how very important you are? You are!”. Everyone can be a sticky bandit and leave these notes on mirrors in restrooms or the driver window of a car or a colleague’s desk. You just do it when nobody is looking. 🙂

Hello! For my husband and I, christmas has always been a stressful, pressured time of year. This year we decided to focus on giving to others instead of focusing on our stress about the holidays. Over the last several weeks, we’ve been collecting essential items to bag up and pass out to people experiencing homelessness in Madison, WI. Tonight we are packing several bags full of warm clothes, snacks, gift cards, hands warmers, toiletries, etc. to give to those in need. We will pass the bags out on Christmas Day, and we couldn’t be more excited! Merry Christmas, Powell family!!

  65. Chrissy Smith - December 23, 2017

Hey y’all! I’m here in little Picayune, Ms. I try to do random acts of kindness all year long, but especially at Christmas time. Today I did some last minute shopping in a city about 30 minutes from me, and made sure I let every car cut in when they needed to, held open every door for everyone I could, and said Merry Christmas as much as possible. So many people were in a hurry so it felt great to give them some time and love while rushing around. Merry Christmas to y’all as well!!

  66. Michelle Ross - December 23, 2017

My RAOK was to sit with a homeless man and his dog this morning. I see him all the time when I am going to work and as it gets cold I feel sad to see them sitting out side of our train station. After getting him and his gorgeous dog a breakfast of eggs and sausage I sat and talked with him for an hour. He was very surprised and happy for the company, saying that even when people place money in his cup, it is done with little to no eye contact.

  67. Asia Vasina - December 23, 2017

    Hello from Lincoln, NE!

Today it’s pretty cold where I live. I haven’t been feeling well but decided I should run to the store this evening to get the last minute things I’d need before Christmas. As I pulled in to the lot of my neighborhood Hyvee I realized everyone else need stuff too, it was so busy! I noticed a really close parking spot and as I was making my way to it I noticed an elderly couple eyeballing it too. I waved and let them have it! It’s cold and dark but also the holiday season, I totally could use the extra walk anyway with all the cookies and treats I’ve been eating!!

  73. Liba - December 23, 2017

RAOK speak straight to my heart as I try to do at least one or more every single day. I will usually buy coffee on a daily basis for 2 random people. But my biggest Random Act Of Kindness which I love doing every single week is buying groceries/fish/meat for a family of 6 that live in my area. I know they are struggling as the dad recently lost his job so I took it upon myself to make sure they have food on the table. I myself am living on a tight paycheck to paycheck budget but I make sure to put away every week a little of my own so I can give to others because there is no better way to warm your heart other than giving to others. On my birthday month (October) I do as many special RAOK’s as the age I’m turning. This year it was 31 and it made me so happy to make others happy. 🙂 there is nothing like putting smiles on other people’s faces.

Last year, I made a commitment to run 1,000 miles in 2017. I didn’t know how much it would take, I thought it’d be easy. It wasn’t. But i received a medal in the mail because I paid for the challenge. Today, I sent the medal to an Instagram friend who just completed her 1,000th mile. She inspires me to keep going and I hope the medal inspires her to keep going on her fitness journey.

  76. Lindsay - December 23, 2017

This is not an act of kindness I performed rather one that has been bestowed upon me. 16 weeks ago (yes I’ve been counting) I decided to put myself first. This is something very hard for me to do as I have two young kiddos and a husband whom I love dearly. 16 weeks ago I reached out to a coach for help with nutrition and fitness. I needed someone to help me understand the balance between the two and life! Around the 10 week mark, my husband left his job to find what made him happy (You only live once)! Finances had to be reigned in so unfortunately I had to put myself behind everything else. I told my coach whom I had become so reliant upon that I was going to have to quit. She is an amazing coach and is a no bs kind of lady! She said absolutely not. She was going to train me even if I was unable to pay. She told me she’s not in it for the money. She does it because she loves it and loves to see people happy. Thank you Laura… you have no idea how you’ve inspired me and pushed me and shown true kindness! So this is for her!!!

There was a fella in front of me at the store who’d been a little short on funds for what he bought. I had limited money myself but wanted to help so after he’d run to his car to look for change I asked the cashier and it was only a couple bucks he needed. Thankfully I had enough so I paid for the remaining of his groceries and mine. I hesitated at first but am soo happy I asked, I showed my kiddos even when you don’t have much you can still help and hopefully someday when you need help, someone else will follow their prompting to help you. Thank you for these reminders to be kind to others. It’s helped me get into the spirit. 🙂

I adore RAOK, but with the daily grind often forget to do them. This year the opportunity fell into my path so clearly. The medical assistant at one of my doctor’s offices is a young single mom in a minority population. She is working full-time, going to school full-time, and raising 3 boys (age 17, 16, and 9) of whom she has full custody. Finances are tight this year and she has admitted to me that she could not afford any Christmas presents for her kids. She felt like a failure, but so proud of her boys who understood the situation. She wanted to at least buy them all one gift, but did not have the time nor money to do so. My mom and I went straight to the store and loaded our cart with gifts for the kids, the mom, and some groceries and other necessities – including cash and gift cards in the bundle of gifts. The next day, we asked her to come out to our car as we had a “small gift to give her.” When we opened our car door and she realized what we had done, she bawled so hard! That morning she had told her kids they would be skipping Christmas this year, but with our help she would now be able to go lay out the presents under the tree. It was such a sweet moment I will never forget. That is truly what Christmas is all about to
me. My heart is bursting with joy and I am so grateful for the opportunity to bless her and those boy!

Today I randomly stopped by my parents house to see how they are doing. My dad is sick and we are waiting for a diagnosis. I just wanted them to be aware I think of them all the time. And I just want to make sure they are ok and if they need anything. Someone to talk to or to just vent frustrations. I’m there for them. ❤️❤️

  86. Jaime Koenig - December 23, 2017

I did my grocery shopping yesterday for Christmas. As I was walking in to the store, there was an older lady with a very full cart walking to her car. She was alone so I asked if I could help her load her groceries into her trunk. She told me how nice it was that I helped and that normally her husband would do the shopping but that he wasn’t feeling well. I loaded all the groceries in the trunk, wished her Merry Christmas, and took her cart for her so that she could go home to her husband. She thanked me again and told me how sweet I was. I just hope that someone would’ve done that for my grandma when she was still alive. Everyone needs a little kindness, especially when the holidays are almost here and stress levels are high. I LOVE reading these RAOK-good job everyone!! Today I took some flowers to a friend recovering from surgery with another friend, my random act of kindness was to turn on her seat warmer because it’s COLD! I also want to go out on a limb and share my “random act of kindness” towards myself (something that is hard for me to do…) I purchased membership in the Transform App, without guilt, and I feel like taking that step towards taking care of ME is showing kindness because I’m often the last on the list!

For me, my random act of kindness happens each weekend at my church in Scottsdale, AZ. We have a program called the Exceptional Stars, which is a sports program for children with Special Needs. For an hour, we teach them various sports such as track, baseball, basketball, et cetera. It seriously makes them (and their parents) SO happy as they’re given an opportunity to grow and develop.

Although this is a random act of kindness… I love doing it because it brings me more joy than it does for them! God loves us so much and I just want to pay it forward & show others the same.

I’d love to take my Mom to the Four Seasons and show her how much I love and appreciate her 🙂

Not many people know that I have been taking care of my mom for the past 3 weeks. Between her hospital stays, surgery and rehab center I have driven back and forth. While taking care of my family, daughter’s medical appointments and working. My mom is home came home last night and closer to me so driving is not that far. I have made it a point to smile and tell everyone thank you for your help and Merry Christmas. From nurses, doctors, Starbucks workers, and employees at Bath and Body Works (I gave her a hug today). I’m making our first year of gluten holiday treats and taking some over to my friend who has been sick with the flu and so has her 4 kids. As busy as I have been I’m excited to share a positive spirit.

  106. Jennifer aveni - December 23, 2017

Hi Heidi!! I’d have to say that I can’t take the credit for this one. This nomination goes out to my husband Justin aveni who put together 63 packages for homeless people around our area. These bags are full of beanies, gloves, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, apples, and homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I have to say my inner Scrooge came out at the beginning as we are currently selling our home, packing boxes, and had our final walk-through at the time of assembly. We had awesome friends and neighbors come over to help us put these packages together. So proud of my husband and his desire to give back.

  107. Mandi - December 23, 2017

My husband is a police officer and for the first year in the history of our relationship he has Christmas Eve and day off 🙌 this couldn’t have been a better year for him to be home as I lost both my parents and we don’t have much family nearby. We have an 18 month old and our due with our second in 6 shorts week! {so these meals would be awesome!} We decided we wanted to host dinner and invited our friends who don’t have plans or family in town over for a Christmas feast. We know the feeling all too well of not having a place to go on xmas and didn’t want this to happen to our people/tribe. Looking forward to time spent with those we love!

  108. Alex Perry - December 23, 2017

I live in Lehi, UT. My family and I went Grocery shopping and bought another family a Christmas Eve breakfast. We arrange it nicely in a basket along with a Christmas ornament and secretly deliver it to their door step. This year the family we chose is one in our community, the youngest son is in my husbands 5th grade class, they’ve got 5 kids and their father passed away this summer. This is their first Christmas without their dad and it’s been a real struggle. We like to choose a family we know is struggling and needs a little extra love and kindness during the holidays! It’s something my 3 daughters get really excited about doing every year. I’m glad it’s just a little way they can serve someone!

  109. Mary Peverall - December 23, 2017

I volunteer at a local hospital here in San Diego, CA and picked up an extra shift to help out during the holiday season. I helped a patient out to the parking garage and offered to watch his bags for him while he went to get his car. He insisted on leaving them on a bench out front or with hospital security but I informed him it was of no trouble and I didn’t mind. He was grateful and couldn’t stop thanking me. I also bought coffee for a friend who was having a bad day.

  110. Kim Higgott - December 23, 2017

I’ve done a lot of giving this season as my heart weighed very heavy on different oraganizations that were in need however the one I would like to share is this one–My act of kindness was to help my fitness ladies stay on tract with their fitness goals. I have several that are on a tight budget so I decided to give all of them free classes for the month of Dec. I’m an independent fitness instructor so I didn’t get paid with money however my payment is the joy I get to help them and enpower them to become stronger and healthier women. I tell them all the time I would teach for free if I didn’t have to pay rent – so this month I put my words into action! Kindness is the key!!

  111. Stacie - December 23, 2017

Every Christmas we have a few traditions to help spread love. I try to be more patient than usual with people, especially since more people are out and about and the tendency to want to yell and give dirty looks is stronger! One thing we do is invite a few families to sing carols at a nursing home. It’s a goood one for everyone! We also like to pay for someone else’s meal at our annual Christmas Eve dinner at Papasitos. We just pick out a family eating and pay anonymously. The kids love that one. 😊 – Stacie, Austin, TX

I was a secret Santa for a little girl whose family can’t afford Christmas. But my biggest RAOK was texting my sister that I love her. Thanks Heidi for the message about letting others know how much you love them. It wasn’t well received, but I felt good about doing it. Merry Christmas 🎁

This morning I’m feeling better as I’m at the end of a pretty nasty cold. Our kids were up several times last night and my husband was willing to get up with them. Without complaining or getting mad. Yep, pretty incredible! This morning he is showing symptoms of getting the cold I am getting over. I am currently allowing him to sleep a little longer so that he can feel better from his restless night. Parenting can be rough but with a little give and a little take, it is beautiful.

Our family takes a basket full of fruit, snacks, and drinks to our area Intensive Care Unit waiting room in hospital. Our sweet Daddy the man who held our family together fought for nearly 2 months to live but he got upgraded to heaven when his body grew tired. We no what it’s like to be there with no change,or it becomes a financial burden in the hospital and sometimes you don’t wanna leave your loved one to take care of yourself. We do this every year to help families out.Our new adventure tonight is to go sing Christmas Carols to all the people who are medically fragile and can’t attend services or see warm smiling faces 🎅⛄🎄Christmas isnt all about the presents you can simple give your time, hugs, smiles, and support to others and it will warm the heart ❤

I have an important someone in my life who’s been really grumpy lately. Instead of being grumpy back at him, I went and bought him a movie ticket to see the new Star Wars. But when I went to surprise him with it, he’d been called into work. Hey, I tried! Lol. So I gave the movie ticket to someone else!

I was at Costco this week, which was madness! I was in a hurry as I walked to my car. There was an old man in an electric cart. His cart was blocking the path to my car. I’m embarrassed that for a second I was frustrated. I had just spent hours in Costco due to the traffic of people and I needed to get home. But then, something inside of me shifted. And I parked my cart and helped load the man’s whole cart into his car.
And I literally felt my heart change. And I thanked God for that moment that had fallen into my day. It made my day lighter and happier ❤️ And I was so grateful for that man.

Hi Heidi and Chris and Fam!
This is Sharee Osborne entering from Rexburg Idaho 83440.
My RAOK is helping a gal find clear celaphane wrapping bags at Fred Meyer. Both her and I passed each other multiple times looking for wrapping and she seemed desperate to get out of the store. I asked what she was searchingly for and helped her pinpoint it so she could make her way home. You never know what someone might be dealing with.
    Merry Christmas!

My oldest two daughters are now both in college (a senior and a freshman) and don’t get to see each other much. Between jobs, weddings and such they will only be together 8 days over this Christmas break. I set up a salon appointment for them, my treat, so they could both go get their hair and such done together and have a little time to bond.

Hey Heidi! Love what you and Chris do! Thanks for being trainers that understand weight loss is hard work and it’s not just as easy as eating less. Today I bought lunch for a patient of mine, who has been in the hospital for quite sometime and will probably spend Christmas there as well. I am so blessed to work at the hospital and not be in the hospital. Merry Christmas!

Today I am spreading happiness! I have already bought the car behind me coffee! Tomorrow my husband comes home after being gone for three months and I am so happy I can not contain myself!! We have been married 21 years and have had a very rough year in our marriage. God had a plan and needed us to pay attention. We needed to wake up and find our love again. Thankfully we have!! I am spreading the love!!

  129. Sarah - December 23, 2017

I’m from Richmond, Virginia. I volunteered and babysat for a wonderful couple so that they could go out on a date. I firmly believe couples need to spend more one on one time together to keep their marriage strong, and I love this practical way that I can monthly support them.

  131. Megan Z - December 23, 2017

Yesterday I brought in a gift (not related to Christmas) to our lovely kitchen lady at my sons school. I knew she had been stressed and wanted her to know how much she is truly appreciated!

I was super nice to the cashier at the store bc she was going to have to deal with the people behind me that I knew were not going to be so nice. Also went to grab a napkin at t h e same time as someone else. He let me grab first . I grabbed two and handed one to him. Silly but the last one I did .

  134. Alisha Price - December 23, 2017

I love this RAOK challenge! I am currently living in Saudi Arabia, we moved just over a month ago. Yes, right before the holidays…it’s been so hard being away from family! On the other hand I have made many new friends and one in particular that has taken me under her wings and given me all the tips of the Kingdom and compound living. She has invited me over for some adult time and helped my kids meet friends. It has been the greatest gift these past several weeks. Christmas is right around the corner and she invited us over for some holiday fun. I don’t think I can even thank her enough and hopefully the homemade graham crackers (sounds silly but you can’t get them here and her kids will love them) will be a small start to me returning the thanks for all their help.

We always cary extra cash with us at the holidays so we can be ready to help someone in need. One of my favorite things my kids have learned is that anytime you pass by a bell ringer”Salvation Army kettle” you always have money to put in their bucket, both on the way in and out of the store. I know it’s not much but it’s just one way we feel like we contribute.

  140. Amber Buck - December 23, 2017

While out shopping tonight there was a bell ringer working outside when the temps were in the low 30’s. We stopped to say hello and my husband asked if he was hungry. He said yes he was. We asked what he would like from the Hot bar. With a surprised look on his face he says mac n cheese. I’m sure he figured we would forget but i got that mnc, h2o and a treat. He gave me the biggest hug and a heartfelt thank you. Giving/doing for others is the best high!

  149. Shalise Wiberg - December 22, 2017

I was at the doctors office today and the lady helping me was really quite grumpy and not helpful. Well I keep a stash of dove bars in my purse to give to people at the holidays. I took one over and said merry Christmas looks like you could use some chocolate , she said Thankyou this might get rid of my headache. Then after that was she really nice and helpful and smiling. I can tell it made her day. Something as simple as that.
Then we delivered Christmas gifts to people who couldn’t provide gifts to their kids. I’m am apart of a group who helps families. We took gifts to one family who had been living on the streets and just got to a hotel temporarily. Pretty humbling. Doesn’t have to be a big thing or have to cost money to serve and help,Just being aware of someone’s needs and acting on that prompting or thought. 💕

I work in a drive thru and have a regular customer who comes and grabs breakfast from us before going home after his graveyard shift. My acts of kindness include going to help my 81 year old dad who was dealing with a bad cold/flu. Eventhough i was in a tremendous amount of pain due to back and joint problems, i pushed through to get what he needed from the store along with a steam inhaler. I cleaned up his home, fed him, gave him his meds, and set up the steam inhaler. Before i left he was feeling much better. Lots of prayer, positivity, and good works along with love is what the world needs more of. I have actually received my gift in feeling gratitude for being of use for someone else’s good. My dad has always support me so its time for me to return it. You will never lose when you give. The pain i was feeling was worth it because it benefit for someone who was dealing with sickness to feel better.

Day 11, I live just outside of Nashville Tn. I do try to do a random act of kindness every day but today is about my husband. He had a co worker who’s wife was battling breast cancer. The company he works for asked if anyone would like to donate one or two of their vacation days so he could help out his wife and care for their two young children. Well being the awesome man that my husband is- he gave him a month of his Vacation days. When I asked him why he did so much, he simply replied “the guy doesn’t need to be worrying about work right now”. So this random act of kindness is dedicated to my husband. He is truly one of a kind.

  184. Aspin Huntley - December 22, 2017

All of these random acts of kindness are so inspiring. I don’t think I could compare to some of these💜 I’ve bought Starbucks for the person behind me three times now, but decided that I could do something bigger. So, I went through my closet and took everything I haven’t worn in the last 6 months (which ended up being 4 1/2 bags of clothes!) and donated it to Dress For Success.

I work in education at a school located in downtown Tampa, Florida. My raof was with a little boy in 7th grade that suffers with severe speech impediment and stutters through every word. Two weeks ago two men over the age of 30 jumped my student and stole his bike as he was heading to school. He has been so upset and scared since. However, that is his only way to school, so he had to borrow his mothers bike and still make it to school daily. Well, myself and a few other teachers pitched in to purchase him a new bike yesterday. He was so beyond grateful, which just warmed my heart. The best part of all of this was how this bike came into being. He wanted a blue bike, but Walmart was out. However, the day we went to pick it up, they had a blue, shiny bike waiting for him. Then, while waiting in like to purchase the bike, through conversation the story was shared with the customer behind us, and she pitched in $50 towards the bike! This wasn’t just one RAOK, this has multiple people showing the spirit of giving.

During the season of hectic shopping, frantic customers and employees, I held the door open for a family of four; a single mother and three hyper kiddos. I can only imagine what it’s like shopping with three kids… during CHRISTMAS!!! Bless her heart. As I was checking out, the same lady was behind me. I offered her my spot in what seemed like a never ending line. Enjoy that extra time with your family random stranger and Spread the love ❤️

  198. Kira Hyde - December 22, 2017

My name is Kira Hyde from Hooper Utah and I recently met the cutest gal who moved into my neighborhood! Before even really knowing me, she was first to volunteer to jump start my car after we realized it was dead after church! Good family! Anyway long, very sad story short, it turns out she and her husband and four small kids lost their job, soon after lost their home and camped in a tent, with what belongings they could fit, until her sister found out and invited them to live in her basement. My heart broke when I learned their situation and wanted to help somehow. I prayed and prayed and finally got the courage to ask my family if they’d be interested in doing a sub for Santa for this cute family. Within ONE HOUR we raised $800 dollars!! We were able to buy a few gifts for the kids and the rest of the money will go to whatever needs they have. Maybe a deposit for a rental? Tonight at our family party we’re going to leave the goods on their porch and door bell ditch. I can not wait! Giving just feels so good! I can’t take credit tho, my family is amazing! Just wanted to share the love! I love you guys!

  199. JOCELYN GALLARDO - December 22, 2017

I was standing behind a family of 3 (mother and her two little kiddos) at a pharmacy line. Honestly i wasnt paying much attention to snything since i was on my phone and in a hurry. I overheard the cashier tell the mom the price for the kids medications and i saw she looked a bit worried because she didnt have the money for it. She told the cashier she could only afford one of her kids medications. Right away i knew i had to do something, so i gave the mom the money. I didnt want to make a big deal about it so i just got my meds and left. It feels great to know you can make a difference if you just pay attention to those around you.

  201. Kristen Holtz - December 22, 2017

I’m in Surprise Az!! Today I decided to reward myself a Starbucks after losing enough weight to get into the next size down in jeans again. Big WIN for me!!! I paid for the next person drink also. Always feels good to do good deeds for others when they least expect it.

  202. Chrissy - December 22, 2017

I guess I have never really considered this as an act of kindness until I thought about it today but we had a lot of snow fall last night and every time it does I also shovel my neighbours side of the driveway as they head off to work and I stay home with my kids so I think it just helps a little bit

  203. Samantha Maurer - December 22, 2017

    Hi Heidi and Chris!

My name is Sam and I am from Sudbury, MA! I have been a veterinary technician for over 16 years. I see so many owners who love their pets, but have a hard time affording things like dental procedures. Today we had a cat here with a terrible mouth and needed many extractions to feel better. The owner is a very nice older man who works multiple jobs and has a difficult time affording care for his pets. He is always opening his home to people who need a place to stay and he’s always very polite and appreciative when he comes in to see us. I decided to help him out and give money towards his bill! He was very appreciative and touched that I wanted to do this so it made me feel great to help someone out who needed it!

  204. Jessica Boyd - December 22, 2017

Brought everyone at work a personalized Christmas cookie and individually wished them a Merry Christmas. I’m all about the little things and showing appreciation in the simplest ways. Bringing a smile to people’s faces in a corporate environment is the best!!

  205. Brittney - December 22, 2017

So simple, yet it totally made his day. Took my son to his favorite barber and we gave extra to make his Christmas special when we paid at the end. Sometimes you just have to appreciate those that are such constants in your life and remind them that they are appreciated.

I take our little one for a run in the jogging stroller a few times a week. We live in an area where a decent number of homeless people also reside. Once a month, we stop at Starbucks and buy a tea and warm meal for someone who isn’t as fortunate to have that. Hoping showing her small acts of kindness when she’s younger with stick with her as she grows.

  207. Lisa bestenlehner - December 22, 2017

My RAOK today was starting the SBUX ‘pay for the car behind you’ line. It was over triple the cost of mine but I did it! It felt soooo good!!!

PARKER, COLORADO!!!! Best small town in the US!

Today as we were shopping through the crazy mall looking for last minute gifts for family, I noticed an elderly lady looking at my son and just SMILING. I recently read how good it is for elderly individuals to spend time with babies so I walked my little one year old over to her, had her hold him as I sat next to them on the bench as he lit up her heart with smiles, kisses and giggles. Ugh, her spirit completely changed, and It brought so much love and joy to my heart too.

  212. Samantha Lintz - December 22, 2017

I wished our teller at the bank a Merry Christmas because it seems every time we go she is snippy & unkind and typically it drives me bonkers!! I don’t know what her home life is like or if she even celebrates Christmas but maybe she just wants to be home with her family & all she needed was for someone to be kind to her!

  213. Taylor Boyd - December 22, 2017

Our payroll department had a system error and our employees did not receive their full bonus or wages they should have. We had the missing income uploaded onto pay cards but had several employees that had time off today . I went to our home office , picked up the pay cards, and dropped them off to the employees that were all over the valley to make sure they had the money before the holiday and could finish shopping. To see everyone so happy and grateful was wonderful and all the hugs was so nice !

You are a true inspiration. So for my random act of kindness. We paid for a lady eating breakfast alone. We will try to do this once a month

  222. Ashley - December 22, 2017

Ashley, Mesa, AZ….I try to do RAOK’s all the time but especially at Christmas time! I open doors for people, let people cut in line, slow down while driving to let people in but my favorite is just smiling at people or striking up conversations with random strangers. The other day I was at lunch and there was the sweetest server (not waiting on me)and we exchanged a wonderful conversation full of compliments and good cheer!

  223. Tracey Rogers - December 22, 2017

  225. Stacy Grau - December 22, 2017

A friend asked me to pick up her two girls from school because she was out of town. I pick up my two kids, get her two kids and head straight downtown. In Chico, we have quite a few homeless around. Once we get to downtown Chico, we go to Starbucks. Each child gets a $5 gift and writes a little note on the envelope. We walk over the fountain where many homeless spend their days and each child hands out a gift card. It warmed my heart to see the kids handing them out. The people who received the gift cards were so thankful.

  230. Holly - December 22, 2017

My hair stylist/friend was telling me details about her recent divorce with her husband, she moved out of the house with her three kids and had to get a line of credit to furnish her condo for her and her kids. She was telling me that she couldn’t afford to pay the deposit to bring her dog at this time because at this point she had zero dollars to her name. Her kids are young and one is special needs, I know how much a dog means to a family. So I paid her pet deposit and first month fee for the dog.

  235. Josianne - December 22, 2017

Catherine Beaulieu has showed me THE best act of kindness as of yesterday…..

See, we’re amazing friends but now live more than 600km away from each other, and so my kid asked Santa Claus for 1 single thing, something we don’t have at all in my region…..but the thing is, someone told me she had bought it for my son and yesterday, told me not having it in hands. So I went and passed the whole evening and night calling all the stores on a 100km radius (of her!!) to know if they still had one.

Well, that lady right there wentat 9:45 at night, with a car that had to be boosted because it was just to cold even for Santa’s carriage, and she went to pick it up and send it by bus, in another city, so my son could receive HIS gift for Christmas……600km appart….that’s some kindness because I’m pretty sure she was only back home around 11:30 and she usually gets sleeping at 9:00…..and has all the parties going on around tonight! Plus, I do love my family, but we won’t be able to see my sisters or father this year so this gift from Santa is pretty much the gift he’ll be receiving this year….

I can tell you she saved Christmas and Santa’s butt last night!!❄️🎄🎅🤶🎄❄️

In return, am sending to school this morning for the last day before the Holidays, a Great, Big Bag of second hand toys as presents for the kids, because we are not fortunate, but my son’s school is considered one in poverty, because of the children and territory it covers….and so,they aske each kid to bring in one second hand toy as prizes for the games they’ll do today, but I know there will only be 3 or so in the whole class, so I’ve been inventive and could find a bunch of pretty interesting things we had here as prizes….

    Happy Holidays everyone!!

My name is kayla spratte and I am 27 years old. I live in seal beach California. Yesterday my fiancé our daughter and myself went to lunch. We got to talking with our server and he told us how his restaurant was closing Saturday. He has a 15 month old son a wife and is in nursing school. We connected because I am
Also going to school to be a nurse. Anyway we got to talking and with it so close to the holidays we felt bad that he was going to be out of a job. We left him a $100 dollar tip to make his day. I am also a server trying to finish school to give my daughter the best life. He was so grateful for this and I love making people happy.

  240. Emma - December 21, 2017

It snowed here in our desert town and Just so you know, that is a rare occurrence! So tonight I made sure to take out not only my garbage bins, but our sweet little neighbor’s as well, she recently broke her hip and it isn’t easy for her to get around, let alone take out her garbage bins. Then we delivered her a hot meal of her favorite meatloaf. -Emma, Utah

  251. Olivia saavedra - December 21, 2017

Today I had to grab a few things at Target. Went through the self checkout line. The employee working those registers was suffering from a migraine today. I believe she needed someone to talk to. Even though I was shopping at lunch and was pressed for time. I took the time out to chat with her and let her vent about all the shopping madness. Wished her well!

I’m hoping I was able to help her feel better, if even in a small way.

  254. Candace - December 21, 2017

I was on a kindness roll this morning. First l let the mom behind me in line at the grocery store go ahead of me. Her little one was starting to melt down and we have all had that moment when we just need to get out of the store as soon as possible. I then went to Sonic for my daily hug (diet dr.pepper) and gave the carhop and extra $10 bill for a tip. Spreading kindness made my day!

  255. Rhi - December 21, 2017

Today we sent my Mom (who lives 1000 miles away) a grocery delivery because she is bed ridden and housebound with the flu. She can now hydrate and has a stock of ready made clean snacks and meals to help her rest and heal.

  256. Kristi Olivares - December 21, 2017

Every year, my kids and I deliver new toys to the children’s ward of our local hospital to be given to kids who are stuck there during Christmas Eve and Christmas. We also bake and deliver cookies for the wonderful staff on the children’s ward.

This all started when my son, who is 12 years old now, was hospitalized during the week of Christmas when he was 5 years old for severe mono, which caused fluid to build around his heart, other organs to become inflamed, and a whole host of other scary symptoms. That was a stressful, terrible week and to top it off, he was stuck in there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. He was released after 7 days on Dec 27 that year. However, while we were there, we were shown so much kindness and thoughtfulness from others. People who didn’t even know us had donated gifts to the children’s ward which were then delivered, along with Santa himself, to my son and other kids on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day who were stuck in a hospital bed. This act of kindness was so touching that we vowed to return the generosity each year. So, this has now become one of our Christmas traditions and one way we spread joy and kindness during this time of year 😊❤️

  259. Tabatha Ervin - December 21, 2017

Every year my girls and I make cookies and plan together who we will take some to, in hopes to brighten their day!!
This year, they wanted to go to the Fire Station. We took over 2 dozen cookies to a fire house near by. The guys asked my girls why they were delivering them cookies. They both said “because you help us, we wanted to say thank you!” They got a tour of the Fire house, climbed in the trucks, and received some coloring books.
It just melted my heart. Despite days when my girls are arguing, and being kids, it’s nice to see the kindness show through. It makes me so proud to be their mom.

Hello from Denver, CO! My name is Cory and this morning at Starbucks there was a fellow Mom with her hands full that was trying to get her 3 toddler to elementary school aged kids settled into seats at a table while the line kept getting longer and longer so I offered to order her coffee for her so she didn’t have to wait in line once they were settled. She gave me her Starbucks gold card to pay for her coffee but I paid for it instead.

  266. Jennifer Wallace - December 21, 2017

Good Morning from Beaumont, Alberta, Canada!!!! My name is Jennifer Wallace and my RAOK…. I really do try on a daily bases to be nice to everyone. But I was out shopping early today and when I got to the cashier you could tell she was having a bad day already. So I just simply put my cell phone away and talked to her, told her a cheesy joke and made her giggle. She seemed to smile after that. I also donated grocery cards in a collection we did at work for some families in need.
I am lost myself with wondering how to change my life and what direction I need to go to find happiness in the everyday things again. I am always hard on myself and will forgive others faster then . myself.

  267. Linda Vakermanova - December 21, 2017

I helped an elderly woman at late hour past midnight as she was crying on a train. She got on the wrong train and so missed the last connection to her home town. She was all knew to the capital city where I live and she would not know where to go as she was stuck there. I made few calls and sorted her accommodation and transport to the location where she would stay for the night. She told me: ‘I didn’t believe a young person like you would do something like this and help me so much’. She told me I was an angel and was almost tearful. I told her that I would behave the same with anybody and wished her a safe journey.

My daily RAOK is I always open the door and let the person behind me enter first, make eye contact and smile 😃. My Random ROAK happened the other day when a lady behind me in line dropped her credit card, I immediately reached down to pick it up and she was so thankful. She was with a cane and was in no position to kneel down. The craziness is how people just look away and can’t be bothered to help the people around them, not me, not us.

  278. Natalie Montes - December 21, 2017

My name is Natalie Montes and I live in Compton California and my random act of kindness is helping a coworker who is a single mom of 3 kiddos buy buying her a box diapers and wipes for the baby. She thinks it’s a spare I have at home but in reality I just want to help her out so it’s one less thing to stress about.

  279. Tiffany - December 21, 2017

I paid for all of the people in line behind me at the coffee shop this morning ☕️🍩❤️🎄🌟

  280. Kristen Holle - December 21, 2017

My name is Kristen and I’m from Fort Worth, TX. My random act of kindness was helping my grandmom get all of her Christmas shopping done and helping her decorate her tree. We also took cookies to the homeless shelters! (A Christmas tradition for us).

  281. Claire - December 21, 2017

Actually I don’t like saying what I do for RAOK because the highest form is to do so anonymously.
This morning I left a donut for a homeless gentleman sleeping outside the QT. I am worried it will be gone when he wakes up.

  282. Caitlyn Johnson - December 21, 2017

I make goodie bags on Christmas Eve and hand them out to people I come across that day. Some people get stressed or don’t have the best holidays so maybe it can make their Christmas a bit better 😊

  283. Malissa - December 21, 2017

I love how these acts of kindness are lighting the world. My RAOK is nothing spectacular but I made dinner for a friend that just had surgery and gave snow clothes to a little boy that wanted to play in the snow but didn’t have snow pants.

  284. Jessica McClure - December 21, 2017

Today’s RAOK 12/21, I did a winter clothes drive at the school where I work & am dropping those things off today.

  285. Tyson Davis - December 21, 2017

So many great examples of kindness and service here in the comments. Definitely will use all of your ideas to keep doing RAOK throughout the year. For my RAOK my wife and I took our two little ones on a Christmas lights judging drive. We went to the store and bought huge king size candy bars and then drove around our neighborhood. We each picked one house that had our favorite lights and left a candy bar attached with a note telling them how grateful we were that they made our Christmas seasons little brighter. Our kids loved it so much we will probably make it a tradition to do every year. Hope everyone here has a very merry Christmas/Holiday season.

  286. Hadassah - December 21, 2017

My very sweet landlord who lives next to me is 84 and has a couple of old ponies she has had since they were babies. They are here family since both her children were killed at a young age. She called me sunday and told me one of her ponies went down and she couldn’t get her up. I rushed over to help her and spent all morning with her in the cold. By afternoon we lost the sweet pony. It was heartbreaking. she had a sore throat from being in the cold and stress all day. Before she came home from bury the pony I made a big cup of hot tea with honey and put it on her table for her when she got back. Later I found out it was her favorite tea and she called it a pot of gold.

  287. Robin H - December 21, 2017

We had a friend and her daughter over to our house to make gingerbread cookies. We supplied the things needed to make the cookies and decorate them. My kids also got a little gift for their friend to say Merry Christmas and thanks for being our friend!

I drove a friend to work who doesn’t have a car and babysat her child so she didn’t loose her job today! -Indiana!

  291. Kim - December 21, 2017

I let someone go ahead of me at the grocery store. They seemed in a bigger hurry than me.

  292. Stephanie - December 21, 2017

I’m not usually one to approach a stranger. I typically go to the store, find my items and head out with as little human contact as possible. But I was waiting in line at the dollar store and the woman behind me looked radiant (I’m not even joking! She was rockin’ every aspect of her golden year being!!) in a gorgeous yellow top and short hair cut. I turned around and told her her shirt was gorgeous, and looked amazing with her skin tone. (It really did !!) I wanted to make sure she knew that she looked ridiculously beautiful! 🙂 @broccolibeach

  293. Elise - December 21, 2017

I noticed that there were several kids without socks or a coat on outside this Winter, so I posted on my local Facebook group for anyone to meet me at Walmart if they can’t afford warm clothes for their kids. I have been able to help several people so far:)

  294. Sophie Longford - December 21, 2017

#raok. My friend hasn’t got much money and it’s only a few days until Christmas. So I made sure she came round with her son 3 times this week for healthy dinners for both of them and making her laugh and let her know she is loved. She is coming round Friday with both her boys and we are having a festive buffet and watching a Christmas film. She has always been there for me for 20 years. We want to start our healthy life in 2018 as I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and she wants to push me to exercise with her. So kindness brings kindness. Sophie longford – Gloucester – United Kingdom.

  295. Ashley ambros - December 21, 2017

I helped someone at church with their flat tire. I have trouble out of one of mine so I carry one of those inflator things and my car is a hybrid so it has an outlet in it so 10 mins later get and get kiddos were on their way!

  300. KayLee Ryker - December 20, 2017

I love to bake, especially for the holidays. For the past three years, I have posted on my Facebook/Instagram pages asking if anyone, anywhere, wants cookies/Christmas goodies. I deliver or ship them to each person. This year, I even included a “cup of cheer” in the form of coffee (grounds)! It started with the hope of spreading kindness. The holidays are a wonderful time of year for me, but I realize that may not be the case for everyone. If I can make a few peoples day a little brighter, it means the world to me. Today half of the boxes were delivered, and the rest will deliver tomorrow. Hopefully they will put a smile on each persons face.

  301. Lisa Linton - December 20, 2017

I gave a poor newly married couple our kitchen table. I’ve also been taking our elderly neighbors some dinner because they are ill and can’t get our much. My kids and I try to always find one person a day to help. I gave a talk in church with over 250 and told them to all pay it forward and do something nice for someone!

  304. Yvette - December 20, 2017

My act of kindness: Today my 7 year old son was feeling down because a grown up friend of ours pointed out that one of his ears was smaller than the other. He has been asking me to please fix it😢. I told him that he is blessed to have two ears and could hear and have all his 5 senses and that he is just PERFECT the way he is. I uplifted his spirit and made him feel a little better❤️.

Today, I said yes to my kids. Today, was a day to serve them. Today, was a listen and do kind acts for them to feel loved. Today, we went and saw Christmas lights because that’s what they wanted. I saw the joy in their eyes listening to the choir singing Christmas music and knew that I chose the right actions today.

  307. Brooke - December 20, 2017

    Brooke/las Vegas
Today was my day off so I went a little nuts.
-my friend was coming back from a trip and nobody wants to think about cooking after a trip so I put a lasagne in her fridge so she didn’t have to think about it, heat and done!
-I went shopping and made “blessing bags” for the less fortunate/homeless here in Vegas with a holiday gift bag filled with a cozy blanket, a beanie, socks and some snacks and hygiene products.
    – at a particular store here you have to use a quarter to get a shopping cart and a lady and her daughter couldn’t get thier quarter to work so I just gave them my cart instead of returning it.

  308. Courtney Howard - December 20, 2017

We have some friends that are struggling financially and just with life in general so we decided to do Sectet Santa for their family. Our friends helped out and it was fun doing something nice for someone else! The only downer is that they found out it was us (our friend left a packing slip for one of the presents in the bag with her name and address and she ratted me out)! 😂😂 I would love to be able to win the TransformApp subscription! I need the extra motivation! My family member had a stroke and found out she has diabetes last year (and has never really been healthy) so I want to be healthy for myself and my family so I hopefully don’t suffer in those ways. It would be a great blessing to be able to use this app!! I live in sunny AZ (QC)!! The best state ever 😉 thank you for these opportunities and for creating such a wonderful program!

  311. Meg Schmitz - December 20, 2017

I was leaving the gym and feeling like McDonald’s French fries were calling my name (I know, I know, it defeats the whole purpose of the workout). But I happened to see a young woman, mid-30’s maybe crying while pushing a baby stroller with her things in it. I took her inside the McDonalds and just happened to have the exact right change on me to buy her a meal and then we talked for over 30 minutes about life. So cool to get to hear her story and get to pray over her.

Today at Aldi, there was a young mom of a newborn and she went to bag her groceries and realized that she had forgot to pay for several items. She kindly asked the cashier to put them back for her so, I quietly paid for them and gave them to her as I walked out. She was so appreciative and it’s always great to help others out!

  317. Amy Neal - December 20, 2017

Today while facing the crazy insane mall full of last minute shoppers like myself- I was in Bath & Body works with hundreds of other women when I saw a really frustrated elderly lady trying to checkout. The clerk was telling her to go to a coupon site on safari on her phone (she was clueless and could barely read the font size on her phone) so I helped her get it all set up to claim her coupon code then she needed a few more additional items for the deal that were such and such specific price. (Which she also could not read the price stickers). After helping her claim the coupon, I could’ve bolted out those doors to get out of the mad house but I could tell she wanted to bolt just as badly as I did so I literally dropped my shopping bags and purse and keys on the ground, asked my sister to watch my stuff and went to help her read all of the additional prices on the bottles. It only took a few moments, but she was very relieved and very grateful that I took the extra time to help her figure out the best deal for her online coupon!

PS- there was a power surge inside of the mall, meaning all of the stop lights stopped working on the way home, and I did not yell at or honk at one single person. 😱

PSS- it is 10:15 central time in TULSA, Oklahoma so I hope this post gets included!! 😬

I told her if she will let me I’ll gladly wrap all her gifts – she was reluctant but I think I’ve got her convinced! Sometimes it can be so hard to accept help from others. Now if only I could figure out a way to help decorate her house for Christmas.

I asked her why she was getting upset, and she told me she is extremely overwhelmed (as she pointed to all her sons Christmas gifts scattered around her office). She didn’t know when she would have time to wrap them or how to get them in the house without him knowing. I’m taking wrapping paper to work tomorrow and I’m going to wrap all of her sons gifts for her so she doesn’t have to worry about it anymore.

I currently live in Severna Park, MD. We are Active Duty Army and I am teaching my children to spread Kindness all over the globe. Today we cleaned out our blankets, winter gear, and bedding and passed them out to the homeless. My kids got to hear first hand how their excess stuff will keep someone warm tonight.

Today I helped out a friend. I drive over an hour to get a special delivered package for her so she would have it in time for Ann important meeting. Event though it was inconvenient and I was rushed. I made it happen to help her out!

  372. Sarah Madden - December 19, 2017

Today I put some quarters in the gum ball machines at the store, I remember how excited my boys would get whenever they found some money to use in those! I also baked some extra Christmas cookies to give to a friend that isn’t expecting it!

What a cool idea with the candy and gum ball machineS! I love reading others ideas 🙂

  375. Danielle - December 19, 2017

A childhood friend (we grew up together in CA and now live a mile away from each other in Utah) was pregnant with her third child. She was about a week from her due date where I offered to take her other two kids for the afternoon/ evening while she did whatever she wanted (slept, prep for baby, eat in peace, whatever she wanted). Being able to help friends, especially those there for you when you’re in need is the greatest gift and feeling. Seeing their full appreciation and them knowing I don’t expect anything in return is true friendship in my eyes. I value my friendships and make sure they know it!

  376. Erica Hayes - December 19, 2017

Hi!! Erica Hayes from AZ! 😊 My Mom came down from up north and stayed at our house last night so we could go to a Christmas party together. This morning I remembered that her car was almost out of gas so I took over on all of our morning duties of getting our son ready for school so my husband could leave and go fill my moms car up for her before she went back home! Just treating her like the queen my dad always has treated her like! 🙂

  377. Cortney - December 19, 2017

I gave my neighbor a ride to the store. I live in idaho and we got a tin of snow today. I gave her a ride there and back home so she didn’t have to walk her toddler through the thick slushy snow.

  378. Isabel - December 19, 2017

I’m getting divorced and my husband moved out a month ago. I’ve been going through the hardest time of my life.. I sometimes feel like my life is over but I keep going.. for my children who I love dearly. Well even though my husband crushed me and broke my heart not once but twice I’ve invited him over for Christmas so that he won’t spend Christmas alone.

    • Rhi - December 19, 2017

I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. I pray that you have a Merry Christmas and the best year yet in 2018!

  380. Alanna - December 19, 2017

Sometimes family could use some kindness. While many enjoy helping friends and strangers, family should matter much! Today while visiting home from college during the holidays, volunteered to wash the dishes for my large family (no dishwasher) since that is the chores most undesired!

  391. Megan - December 19, 2017

We do lots of RAOK as a family. Our daughter was born into heaven at 38 weeks in October 2016. We do RAOK in memory of her and have friends and family doing the same…this has now passed on to complete strangers. By paying for the person behind us in the drive thru at Starbucks, paying for someone’s meal, delivering baked goods, leaving money at the pump for someone to use for gas, putting money in a Redbox movie, or leaving random gift cards or cash in places. We enjoyed doing RAOK before but now that we do it in memory of our daughter, Maelah it means something much more.

  392. Stefanie Chapa - December 19, 2017

Helping a friend out when they are sick and have kids Christmas concerts. Stayed with the little ones so they could enjoy the show

  396. Stefanie - December 19, 2017

We caught wind of a ladiy who didn’t have much this Christmas. My self and kids were able to put together a bag of things. The kids were told to go get a few of their own things like stuffies, books and toys for the baby. It was so cute to see them fuss over if the baby would like it. They picked some of their favourite things giving so selflessly. We were also able the get a few meals put together along with some things to pamper mom. It was nice we were able to do it together as a family.

  397. Cortney - December 19, 2017

Yesterday at walmart I was finishing up some Christmas shopping when I seen this poor mom who was exhausted she had 3 little ones in the cart, 1 child walking beside her that was between 8 and 10 years old who was trying to help with the cart, and a baby on her hip. I have 5 kids and at one point they were all young and I remember the crazy hectic trips to the store. One of her little ones was picking on the other one which was making him cry and scream and she is so calming trying to take care of which if you know Wal-Mart, there are a lot of mom’s who will just scream at their children and make a scene. Not this mom even though you could tell she was tired, she was so patient with her kids. So I decided to tell her how great of a mother i thought she was. I didn’t do it for any other reason except for the fact that I felt she needed to hear it at that time and apparently I was right because she started crying and thanking me. It made me feel really good and best of all it reassured her that she’s not alone and that she is doing the best she can, even when it doesn’t always feel like it.

  398. Abby - December 19, 2017

Last night I took my 2 year old shopping for a little girl on the angel tree. Today we are wrapping and delivering to a whole family! She is old enough to understand santa and she’s old enough with the biggest part to understand the joy of giving! Seeing her feel good about helping others is the best Christmas gift in itself.

I exercised more patience than usual with my little one while shoveling snow 😶. She had her little shovel and was so proud of her skills shoveling the snow from the lawn onto the driveway. It’s so easy for me to quickly try and correct things with her bit I need to remember she is little and just having fun. I need to focus on consistently giving her grace and letting go of the little things that set me off.

Hoping to shovel more snow soon here in Utah!

I already commented- but since it’s xmas my RAOK countinues! I work extra in retail – and I saw someone that REALLY fell in love with a pair of leggings- she couldn’t afford them at that price – I had a gift card in my purse so I told her to wait! I cane back with the gift card and she got super happy and bought the leggings!

At the gym this morning I noticed an older women struggling with one the elliptical. She was about to give up and move on when I went over to her. She had the machine on the wrong setting which most likely would have had her fall (was to easy and she might have slipped!)! She thanked me for showing her and then proceeded to ask me to get on the elliptical next to her to “workout” together. It was one of the most pleasant workouts I’ve have in awhile. My grandmother would be proud 😇

My husband and I have adopted a family for the holidays! We’ve reached out to our community and actually have helped two family’s this year. One is a mother with 4 girls who just got out of an abusive relationship and works 3 Jona Just to get by and wasn’t sure how she was going to make Xmas happen for her girls. The other is a mother who has two children, one who is special needs and she also is divorced and wasn’t sure how she was going to make the holidays this year for them. Originally I wasn’t going to post on here that we did this because I think true acts of kindness should be done and not spoken about but I think it’s an amazing way to get others in the spirit of making the holidays about others- not ourselves!

  406. Taylor Lane - December 19, 2017

Today I cried as I said, THANK YOU to all of the Veterinarian staff. They casted my puppy today and took great care of him when he went into shock after surgery. He is seriously my life and I know this is their job but they went above and beyond to make sure he was as comfortable as possible. I wish I could take them all out to dinner, or bring them all coffees, or do something special for the holidays but I simply can’t afford that of course. A sencere thank you goes a long way, and I am always grateful to hear thank you, I simply don’t think we hear it enough for just doing our jobs.

  413. Lara - December 18, 2017

Today i texted several friends first thing this morning to let them know that i love them and to wish them a good day/week.
I patiently listened to a friend make excuses for many things in his life and then listened to him tell me he is an alcoholic and made sure to check on him throughout the day and ask him how i can help him — stopped by the store to pick up a Christmas light display for his house which brought a lot of joy to his face (and heart).
… and then all the things a mom usually does for her kids and others in and out of the house throughout the day…
Kindness was given to me today when i taught a fitness class at a time I’m usually “working” and got to reconnect with gym members i haven’t seen in a long time – the class wasn’t great but the members were all very complimentary and loving and it was so nice to see their smiles!!

  421. Laura J. - December 18, 2017

My husband and I adopted another family for Christmas! Between 2 boys and their mom, they have 17 packages to open and money to spend to have a Christmas dinner. My husband and I started this tradition the first year we were dating (2014), and we kept saying, “since we don’t have kids of our own, let’s adopt a family.” Well this year is the first time we DO have a kid of our own (a sweet 3 month old baby girl), and suddenly it seems MORE important to do kind and selfless things for others. I am looking forward to keeping this tradition going each year. -Laura from Southfield, Michigan

My sister is going through a particularly hard time this holiday season. She has repeatedly said that all she wants is to send out a cute Christmas card with her kids’ pictures on it. She is dealing with so much mental stuff and does not have the ability to do it herself. I got On and i created her Christmas card for her, Placed the order, and I’m going to help her gather addresses to help her mail her cards. It may seem like a small thing, but she is so, so grateful!

  436. Kristina Fiene Castaneda - December 17, 2017

This is the neatest thing, and gave me the courage to do something I had been hesitating to do, which is to reach out to an old friend. Frequent communication fell to the wayside after babies, and in random meetings I could see someone who needed to talk but did not know how to ask. So I reached out and shared my heart, and found one whose had been broken and was needing just an ear to listen and reassure they are not alone. I think so often in our social media culture we type “I miss you” and “we should catch up!” but we never do. And today, I did. -Kristina from Colorado, USA

Today we stopped at a cafe midway between our home and back home. While eating breakfast an elderly veteran came in an sat by himself. He began to devour his breakfast as my family was finishing up. As my husband walked over to thank him for his service I paid his check. This world can use all the kindness it can get. While walking out of the store, she was trying to push her cart along with her cane. I offered to push her cart and loaded her groceries into her car. She was so grateful that she had tears in her eyes. My mom passed seven years ago and I miss her dearly. Speaking and helping this lady brought back happy memories of my mom. Today we had our first family Christmas. I decided since everyone one else works and I’m a stay at home mom I’d let them rest so I cooked all the food and hosted the dinner at my house! My 11 year old son even made brownies for everyone!

    Lincoln, NE

  453. Lynn - December 17, 2017

Lynn from Indiana. Sent a text to a friend thanking them for being such a special person in my life and always being there for me.

  454. Sasha Cadigan - December 17, 2017

At the grocery store, a older lady stopped and was telling me how she used to cook a whole chicken in a crockpot. I stood and spoke with her for quite awhile. I could tell she just wanted to talk to someone even if it was just about chicken. I am not sure if she felt as good as I did after the conversation, but it made me feel good and think about how nice it was to just have a nice conversation wth a stranger. Maybe it was her that did the good deed for me, but either way it made my day a lot better.

  455. Ann - December 17, 2017

I have a friend who has been under the weather so I went to the store and grabbed a bunch of stuff to help her feel better (throat lozenges, Vicks vapor rub, chicken noodle soup, ibuprofen, chap stick, Epsom salt bubble bath, chocolate, chocolate chip cookies and a book) and put it in a cute bag along with a card letting her know I am thinking of her and hope she gets well soon.

  456. Debra Welter - December 17, 2017

Well I have been letting people in…during traffic but today I also went the extra step to ask someone about a situation in their life and just listen….

My husband and I had his parents, Uncle, and uncles friend over for dinner tonight!

  458. Katie - December 17, 2017

I bought a ride home for my elderly patient who had been in a car wreck. I couldn’t put her in a taxi by herself after all she had been through

  460. Erin Klapps - December 17, 2017

Today I shopped for Christmas presents for a mom (whom I have never met) who couldn’t afford to give her girls the best Christmas. Although money is tight for my family we knew we had just enough to help another family.

  466. Jennifer Hammon - December 17, 2017

Today I gave our Christmas tree to a family that didn’t have anything this Christmas. I saw their post on a local RAK page and decided we can stick to a smaller tree this year. Before we went to meet them to give them the tree I bought a pack of ornaments for it, stockings for their 3 children, and a $100 gift card for them to do some shopping. We struggle too at times but it was awesome to be able to help these people and their children at the expense of something we didn’t need.

  467. Wendy Williams - December 17, 2017

Selected some angel kids from the Salvation Army tree and took my kids to the store to shop for them. It was a lesson about giving and not receiving, this difficult situation for these kids can be a little less difficult by meeting the basis and immediate needs (clothing) for this kids. We include a special wish too (toy).

  468. Megan - December 17, 2017

In October of 2016 my only daughter was born into heaven since then we have done random acts of kindness…. just recently making Christmas treats and giving them away…. to our mailman, truck drivers etc.

For once I did something nice for myself ( not entirely sure if this counts ) instead of beating myself up for a mistake, I let it go 🙏🏻 Did some knitting, did some meditation, learned something out of the experience! If this doesn’t count I went to visit a Dutch friend who was working in Belgium for the day 😊 Elise-Belgium

  481. Tina - December 17, 2017

He has a fellow firefighter whose family lost their home in the Tubbs Fire on October 12 of this year. I will be playing Santa next Thursday, December 21, and personally delivering all the gifts to Santa Rosa, CA.

We made cookies for a neighbor who is struggling with her pregnancy.

  494. Carol - December 16, 2017

We have a 36 year old daughter who was recently diagnosed with stage 4b cancer so we are having all of our kids and their families come home for Christmas. Some live as far away as Dallas Texas and Gatineau Quebec, but everyone is making the Herculean effort to be here! I have been working hard to get ready for the troupes! …cleaning, sorting, making beds, doing laundry, decorating our home and doing meal prep for 24 people for 10 days! It may not seem like much of a service but it has been service! …tinged with heartbreak. It has been busy and exhausting work…yet it is also a special work that I am trying to do so we can all be together at home And enjoy the lovely Christmas traditions all together – possibly for the last time.
That was what I have been working on today.

  495. Pratibha - December 16, 2017

My husband came home from an all nighter of plowing snow around 7am today. (This month he is currently running two Christmas Tree lots) I knew he was exhausted. So I let him sleep while I stocked up fire wood in my car and went to open up each lot and get everyone ready to go! When I came home, he was truly grateful and said he felt very loved!
I did it because I truly do love him!

  499. Sue Langford - December 16, 2017

I do random acts of kindness whenever possible. Recently, I fell in love with a lighthouse on vacation in Georgia. I’m a romance author (romances to empower women) and I opted to dedicate a series of books to the lighthouse restoration. They were low on funds and it was a low priority to them. When I notified them that I was donating, they were completely surprised. I raised enough to get a head start on the restoration. Then, I went down and donated time to help them and got the newspaper in town to help advertise the cause which raised even more money for them. I made the decision that for the life of my lighthouse series novels, they’d always get a cut. Next, I helped a friend in need who was practically at a food bank daily to support her son with a surprise hamper of food and no note to tell her who it was from.

  500. Amanda - December 16, 2017

Amanda in Yucca Valley, CA… Today I delivered Christmas gifts to children in need!

  502. Erika Baker - December 16, 2017

I made sure that a student of mine has presents for Christmas. Her family is going through a hard time and I wanted to make sure that her parents didn’t have Christmas to worry about. I bought some things at Target, wrapped them, and took them to her mom. Feels good to know that she will wake up on Christmas with some things under the tree and that her parents can breathe a little easier.

  503. Angela Jarvis - December 16, 2017

Today I paid for someone else’s gas by leaving the gas handle on the trash can as I pulled away the car behind me pulled up. I told her to fill up as much as she needs. Tennesse is where I’m from. Happy Holidays.

    i Served my mom today.

  505. Melissa - Iowa - December 16, 2017

I live in Iowa, USA I love this, RAOK, so much!! Reading of others is so inspiring! I ask my kids each day to do something nice for someone, and then talk about it later. Sometimes, of course they forget, or they forget to talk about. But seeing them speak of something that made them proud, and feel good…and then watching it unfold just naturally makes me stop in my tracks and watch the good in the world. It’s a beautiful thing to be kind to others.

  506. Rachelle - December 16, 2017

My kids and I made and decorated Christmas cards for Ryland Ward from Texas (please please google for his contact information and send him a Christmas card too – he is five years old and recovering from being shot in a senseless church shooting- he lost his mother and sisters too. Let’s show him how much we all care so that he can keep getting stronger). Loving on my own kiddos today. We are from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

  512. Tracy Bittner - December 16, 2017

Today I was parking my car and this older woman was walking to her car in front of mine. She made a comment about the color of my car and how much she liked it. And we started talking. And I listened, I listen to her probably about five minutes. A random stranger just wanted to tell me some information about her life. It was wonderful. I need to take more time to do that, and she help me realize that. We left after wishing each other a merry Christmas and I had a big smile on my face .

  513. Holly Young - December 16, 2017

Today at lunch I noticed a man come into the restaurant I was at and be treated rudely by other patrons for no reason other than he looked to be homeless, people got up and moved away from him, and others went out of their way not to sit by him. My random act of kindness was to buy this man his lunch anonymously to show him that not everyone he encountered at lunch was an arce!

  520. Bryn - December 16, 2017

Paid for someone behind us in line at the drive thru.

  521. Melinda petty - December 16, 2017

I was standing in line at a store for 45 minutes waiting to check out tonight for last minute gifts. The woman behind me and I started a conversation as we waited. She was buying more clothes for her kids. As a single mom, I know the meaning of stretching a dollar. I heard her talking to her daughter about getting shoes and socks for her little one. I mentioned I work for a big show company that happened to be around the way. We met at the store after checking out and let her pick out whatever she wanted so she could use my discount to save big. I don’t have money to help others but I have time and can give what I can.

  522. Amber Westfall - December 16, 2017

I invited a woman (who can be super difficult) to join our family’s table at a Christmas Party and put forth extra effort to help her feel welcome.

  523. Lynita Sells - December 16, 2017

I saw a post in our neighborhood FB group that someone had flown home for the weekend to see her family but forgot her computer charging cable. I messaged her and took mine to her so she could charge her laptop and I’ll get it back tomorrow.

  524. Melanie Frohlich - December 16, 2017

I let a mom with her kids in line before me at the store. For once my own kids were behaving, but she definitely looked like she needed to get out of the store ASAP. I can always empathize with other moms, we’ve all been there at one point or another. I believe we get back what we throw into the universe, so always be kind.

    Melanie from FL

  526. Mary - December 16, 2017

My name is Mary and I’m from Spokane, WA! I think this is awesome by the way! What a great way to get those selfless acts going this Christmas!
I went to the grocery store and there was a starbucks inside. The barista looked like she was having a rough day so I went and got some coffee and had a nice chat. I tipped her a lot and she thanked me profusely for being so kind to her and started to tear up. I didn’t think of it as an act of kindness, but I guess I just caught her when she really needed love and kindness. It ended up making MY day. I hate that people get treated so badly sometimes, so I always try to be nice and today it ended up making a big difference.

  527. Erica - December 16, 2017

Merry Christmas!! This season has gotten away from me on my acts of kindness but I did give my barista extra money and told her to buy the next person a coffee!!

  528. Erica Hayes - December 16, 2017

Hey!!! 😘 Erica from AZ! Today my husband and I went over to hang out with our 2 nephews and 4 nieces so my sister and brother-in-law could go and do their Christmas shopping together without any kiddos. We took all of them, and our two kids, to the park and out to lunch! And we love every second of it!!

  529. Sarah battles - December 16, 2017

I have a servants heart and I love to do for others but for today’s RAOK it would have to be…..

My best friend is a single mom and has no family even remotely close to us, we live in Texas. Her closest family is in Las Vegas. She doesn’t get much time to herself so I spent the evening at her home babysitting so she could christmas shop for her children. Sometimes it’s just the simple things to us that mean the most to someone else. Merry Christmas Powell family ❤️

  532. Heather Sabatino - December 16, 2017

My RAOK today: I let a car go in front of me that wasn’t being allowed in by anyone else. We can’t always assume that someone knows that a lane is going to end. We should always assume that people are not being malicious and just were unaware at the time. You’ll appreciate it next time someone lets you in what do you make a mistake.

    Hello dear friends
I live in Va Beach. And entering for Dec 16th, cozy slippers, beanie etc.
Today, like many days, a ROAK is a normal thing since that is an easy way to love others.
This morning, while at our fav roaster coffee house, I helped the staff by clearing out dirty dishes and helped other customers pick out a good present for a family member.
My 4 year old daughter, helped her favorite store by organizing a display for toys. Just part of a regular day for us.

  540. Rhoni - December 16, 2017

While out shopping today for my three children (who need absolutely nothing, but want everything), I needed cash and drove through the Mac machine. As I was leaving there was a man on the corner holding a sign that said “out of work Dad with children, please help me provide for them. God bless!” I instantly pulled over and gave him some of the cash I had just gotten from the machine. I’m blessed in many ways….pay it forward if you can.

  541. Anna - December 16, 2017

Today my 9 year old daughter completely surprised me!!! She came to me and asked if she could make some gifts for our neighbors to make them feel special. 547. Jenny - December 16, 2017

I think this is a wonderful thing that you are doing. For me though to tell you something I did that was kind of feels weird to me, as i try to live everyday in that frame of mind. A few years ago I was bitter and angry, hating myself and others-life, I felt was not being kind to me. then one day a random stranger did something kind for me and it was like a switch went on. Ever since then , no matter how big or small- I try to do or be kind everyday. Like the Grinch, I found my heart again, thanks to that woman many years ago. ❤️ Kindness can only bring happiness. Thank you for all that you do.

Today for my random acts of kindness I chose to be more kind and forgiving towards others. It’s so easy to get bothered by the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but today I smiled more, I was more patient and I challenged my friends and family to do the same. You never know how far a smile or an encouraging word can go.

  552. Karla Kindall - December 16, 2017

I live in Houston TX and my ROAK of the day was, I was driving home and it suddenly started raining, I saw this mom getting soaking wet pushing a stroller with her baby, I offer her a ride but she decline so I gave her my umbrella instead. I don’t blame her for turning down my offer of a ride, I would probably have done that too but she gladly accepted the umbrella.

  553. Beth - December 16, 2017

My kids and I went shopping today for our local animal shelter. They picked out toys, collars, and treats to donate to the shelter.

  554. Sherry Coontz - December 16, 2017

    Hello from Lincoln, NE!

Today I let an elder lady with her hands full cut us in line at the store. I only had a few items but it was pretty busy there with Christmas around the corner, she had a basket full. She was very thankful!

Day 5- Murfreesboro TN! Today we paid it forward by paying for the person’s meal behind us in line at a drive through. People always do it at a Starbucks but why not start it everywhere else. 😉

  557. Krissa - December 16, 2017

Made some cinnamon rolls for a friend!

ROAK(s): I love in Green Bay Wisconsin! (Recent transplant from Texas, and learning how to winter!) Today I shoveled my driveway and sidewalk and decided to do the same for my neighbor! It was a little chilly, but it made me happy to be able to help my neighbor.

    Thank you ❤

December 16, 2017. My RAOK for today….do No all the chores for my husband. Giving him the day off!

  560. Emily MacLean - December 16, 2017

I live in Ottawa, Ontario and there is a man and his wife who are homeless in the downtown area where I live. They sit in the same spot every day and they also have a small dog. The dog is well fed and they take great care of him. Recently the restaurant across the street from where the couple sit took a photo of them and shamed them on social media for keeping a dog and having it outside in the cold with them. Today I brought the man and his wife a Tim’s card and a coat for the dog as well as some treats. I found out as I was doing this that hours early someone had walked by and taken their dog! I told the man that I would call local shelters in the morning to help find him!

Update** I found the dog(Rio) last night through lost dog groups on Facebook! They dog is being returned to his owners this morning. I am so happy this dog was taken in by kind people and his family will be whole again today!

The other morning I was in the drivethru at Starbucks and the lady in the car in front of me was next up at the window and her car broke down. She had someone pull their car up so they could jump start it, this went on for about 5-10 minutes without anyone being able to move in line- clearly people behind her were getting frustrated. Her car still wouldn’t start so they moved her car out of line. I felt so bad that I couldn’t help move her car ( I have a torn ACL so I felt useless). I wanted to help in some way so as I pulled up to pay for my drink, I paid for hers as well.

I got into a bad wreck in July fracturing both ankles, my talus & crushing my left wrist. I had a knee scooter when I was finally about to get around. But I lent it to a older gentleman that had gout extremely bad. His daughter came to my house late at night to pick it up. I let them use it for two weeks. Life is short make the most of it. I’ve learned that time and time again

  564. Gloria Origel - December 16, 2017

I clean houses for a living. I posted on the classifieds in my town that I would give away two hours of cleaning to a random family who was in need. I choose a woman who just had twins and was overwhelmed by the holidays and I went and cleaned her house for her. She is a complete stranger to me… So wonderful to feel connected to each other in service. So thankful for this opportunity to be able to give of service 😊😊

  565. Leah - December 16, 2017

I work as a very busy administrative assistant to 6 pastors at a church, and I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with a woman who I didn’t know, who was lonely, struggling, needed a listening ear, and had many questions. I had a flood of work waiting for me, but I choose to be patient, show her the love of Jesus, and talk with her about her life. By the end of the conversation, her tone of voice was completely different!

I had the privilege to shop for a family who would not have a Christmas. A mom and her three children. As a mom I know what it means to be able to make Christmas magical for your kids. I pray this family feels the love of this holiday season!

  567. Cary Poole - December 16, 2017

In the past month I have had many conversations about stress, anger, loss of motivation, and even abuse with my colleagues, training partners, and students ( I am a high school teacher). The month of December can be very hard for many, and I know that I can’t for make everyone’s problems disappear- so I realized my act of kindness is to listen, support, workout with, and guide those who need me. Merry Christmas.

  568. Lisa - December 16, 2017

I lent my ear to my cashier at the grocery store who was having personal problems with her grown children. I took the extra 15 min and just let her talk- the best 15 min of my day. ❤️

  569. Ashley - December 16, 2017

That’s a lot of scrolling to get here :).

My ROAK for the day is showing some kindness on the road! Letting those fools that always bug me merging last minute cut in front of me, giving someone the closer spot in the parking lot, and not blaring on my horn when someone made a poor driving choice.

Hopefully my little effort helped someone’s day here in Utah!

    -Ashley Teuscher

  570. Marina DeCelle - December 16, 2017

Hi I’m Marina I’m spreading my random acts of kindness from Massachusetts!

    1. Treated my best friend to dinner because it’s giving season!

    2. Let several cars merge in my lane during rush hour because nobody else would!! (gave up my masshole reputation)

    3. Left a note for my mom telling her I love her 🙂

  571. Hayley - December 15, 2017

My service today was to take extra time to sit with my youngest (2 years old) and read her favorite books over and over. It’s hard when life is so busy, but seeing her excitement and happiness in sitting with me and saying the same silly things over and over was wonderful.

  572. Sherry - December 15, 2017

I would like to say i do secret shopping for carls jr this requires me to go through the drive thru and see how the employees do with cutomers. So i took my granddaughter with me who is 3 almost 4 and we ordered the food but i gave it to a homeless man on the corner. He was so happy and my granddaughter was so happy she wanted to go back and see how he liked it.. i love teaching them to give.. with that being said i would like to enter the 11 th day since i need help with my food choices hahah

  578. Danielle C. - December 15, 2017

Today we handed out a dozen eggs as gifts to some neighbors that we don’t typically see or talk to. It was fun getting to know people and brighten their day.

  579. Kim - December 15, 2017

Today’s RAOK- my husband and I went Christmas shopping and this time of year it is hectic with traffic; parking etc and there were quite a few times I thought “Man why is everyone in such a big hurry”, then I let out a sigh and say it could be worse. So I let a lot of people park when I could have taken that spot or I walked slower behind people leaving a store. It was a good day.

  583. Cameron - December 15, 2017

Hello, my name is Cameron and I live in Holland, Michigan.

For the past year and a half I have been struggling with Ulcerative Colitis. In May, I had surgery to get my colon removed and have a temporary ileostomy placed. It has been a rough journey, but I am so much healthier and stronger- both mentally and physically. It has given me my life back, but it has also given me a different perspective on life! As I write this, I am laying in my hospital bed because I had my third and (hopefully) final surgery for this nasty disease. I got my ileostomy taken down! 🎉 Tomorrow, I will be visiting another man that is in the same floor who recently had an ileostomy placed. I am so thankful that I can help him through this time by sharing my experience with him. Before my first surgery I met a guy my age who was having the same surgeries as me, but one surgery ahead. Having him to talk to throughout all of this has been such a blessing and I don’t think I could have made the leap and have the surgeries without his encouragement. As a 20 year old girl, having an ostomy bag was not ideal, but i know things could have been so much worse. I am just fortunate enough that it was temporary and now I can help others going through the same thing!

I’m Christy Hare from Odenville Alabama. The 13th of December made 7 years that my beloved son Casey passed away. While I set aside my time and grieved that day, I gave out a 50.00 Cracker Barrel gift card in his memory to a working mother who otherwise probally couldn’t afford to take her entire family. 💙

  591. Brandi wood - December 15, 2017

I live in kaysville, Utah. I guess my RAOK isn’t random because every week for 5 years i have taken dinner to my sweet neighbor who is laid up in bed. She has had 15 back surgeries in 10 years and almost all her spine is fused. She is such a kind, amazing women and i know she has really bad days. I truly believe that she has helped me more than i have her, because she has taught me that no matter what life throws at you it’s your attitude that will make you or break you. I really appreciate the opportunity i have been given to serve and act kind.

I’m Juneau Alaska. It was a blah rainy morning when I pulled up for my expresso. Noticed the driver behind me, unknown, and bought their coffee too. Her smile was priceless which made the day and drink that much more enjoyable.

I am a SAHM of 4, so I don’t get the opportunity to leave the house much, but today I managed to leave a graphic designer I was making a purchase from a generous tip, emptied out my entire closet and dresser and donated all of the clothes I shrank out of thanks to the Transform App, and filled 3 large boxes of toys to donate that my kids no longer play with. I then got puked on by my two year old which really isn’t an act of kindness, but it was a random act. 😆

I paid the bill for a young girl in line at the Dollaa Store! She was about 10 yrs old and in line in front of me. I asked her if I could buy her stuff, as I could tell she was using her own money to buy her items, I got so blessed, over this, come to find her mom said she had earned the money, but even better she was buying Christmas gifts with it for her sister! Blessed for being kind!

Love love love reading through all of these RAOK’s!! What a MOVEMENT!!
Mine is simple and much like everyone else’s, but I love it when it happens for me, so why not do it for others?? I paid for the Starbucks for the person behind me. Who knows what is going on in their lives that day, but if I can bless them in this little way, then why the hell not?!

My RAOK isn’t huge, but my partner always takes care of our cooking and cleaning and never complains! He’s such a keeper. So today I cleaned up the whole apartment and did all the dishes so we could enjoy a date night. We had dinner and watched “it’s a wonderful life” for Christmas! It made him so happy 🙂

  606. Amy - December 15, 2017

Today I made shirts for myself co-workers to wear for a “casual Christmas “ day. Our goal was to have fun, and make our patients smile a little, too. Mission accomplished! I live in Topeka, KS and work as a PT

  607. Amanda Todd - December 15, 2017

From CA—I realize this may disqualify me, because I didn’t do a RAOK today but had one done for me. I have been in bed sick all day. My dear sweet husband, brought home the work he could (because he’s working an extra day tomorrow to help pay for a snow trip with our kids) so he could help with the kids and I could rest. On top of that, he brought me flowers to brighten my day. Hardly ever am I laid up like this, but even fewer times has he brought me flowers. AND he did so even with some frustration from a little tif we had yesterday. He chose love and compassion over pride. Just proof of what a RAOK does to ones heart. I would love this outfit, I mean LOVE, but moreso I love the opportunity to brag on my hubs for a min 😍

  608. Natalie Loveridge - December 15, 2017

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and for my RAOK for the day I took dinner to a friend who just had a baby and donated coats to a shelter in need. ❤

My RAOK is nothing big but here goes: I was waiting for a parking spot at the mall today, the parking lot was crazy busy, when I was about to take the space I was waiting for a woman with two young kids in the back of her car pulled around the corner. I knew she needed the space more than me so I gave it to her. She seemed very appreciative and I was happy to wait for the next spot. Lynnfield, MA

This morning I saw a post on Facebook from a friend saying she was heading to the hospital with five kids in tow. The person who was supposed to watch her kids had to back out last second because their kids became sick overnight. I immediately texted my friend and told her to bring her five kids over to hang out with me today. I can’t imagine taking five kids (six and under) to the hospital with you while you’re trying to support a friend going through surgery. Now I get to take all of them plus my own for-year-old to the grocery store!

  622. Tiffany McDaniel - December 15, 2017

Let me start by telling you a little bit about my grandparents who live in Rock Island, Illinois. She is 87 years old and is a woman that is the sweetest most selfless person I have ever met! She always has a smile on her face and her door is always open. She has started to experience memory loss but never does it keep her from being generous, loving and Happy day in and day out. My grandpa is 88 years old and has been a type 1 diabetic for 46 years and had his leg amputated for 14 years now. He is insulin dependent and takes 4-5 shots every single day. They have been married for 68 years and truly are the reason I am who I am today. I talk to them on the phone at least twice every day and I go to their house every day of the week at least once to prepare meals, their pills, check on them and just to visit because I know how lucky I am to still have them in my life. (They were part of a family business and never did they prepare for retirement or a life this long …. so they live on the small amount of SS they receive and never do you see them complain or ask for more …. but boy do I wish I could give them the world !!)
Today I am planning to surprise them by cleaning their house for them to prepare for the holidays, give my grandmother a “spa day” by painting her nails and doing her hair and will finish by taking my grandpa to his favorite coffee shop that he has visited and become a staple at for many many years now! Everyone there loves him and call him Mr D when he is there which he loves and can’t get enough of the attention. (He literally feels like a celebrity when we are there and I love it and appreciate the owners and their staff more than than know!) I don’t even think about all that my husband, daughters and I do for them daily as an act of kindness but more like doing what is right and what they deserve. (I lived with my grandparents and they raised me from the time I was 3 mos old until I got married, became a mom and moved out on my own and for that I can NEVER repay them or show them how much I appreciate all they did and all they sacrificed to make sure I was taken care of) I had my time … the time is now theirs and I know taking care of them and making each and every day awesome for them is what I SHOULD and WILL do!

  623. Gintare Gerheim - December 15, 2017

I work in a gym as a personal trainer and today, I told everyone in my 6am class how awesome and inspiring they were to me. To wake up and show up for themselves is everything to me. I also told each and everyone of them that I believed in them and they should believe in themselves as well! They are total rockstars and I’m so lucky to be apart of such an amazing community! ❤️

I was at the mall to pay my bills and there was a young girl with an iPad. There was a huge board with days calendar like chocolate ones but really huge! She ask me to point a number so I choose and I won 🙂 was KFC menu. I love KFC I don’t eat very often but still love it. I know that my son will love it too so I came back home and give it to the kid. He still saves this coupon for Christmas 😁 Is cute. I cannot do many great things including money but can do the other things to make someone happy. I have surprise for one friend of mine … just a couple of clothes that she may like. They was mine but since I have lost some weight they are big for me. Some are just new 😍 I guess she will like them 🙂

Today I won a prize I’d never use so I gave it to a friend in support of their business. People are kind to me on a regular basis. I have two really great friends in my life that are there through everything, one is my sister who I never had a valuable relationship with until recently. I could really use a kindness that is health related. I’ve definitely been battling lately and unfortunately my lifestyle suffers. I have no drive lately and it’s not like me to not work out while motivating others to work out. I honestly don’t even feel like getting out of bed most days. I miss the old me.

I love this! I completely agree and actually take this into my classroom with my students. We do an advent calendar of kindness for December. Together with the kids we came up with something to do each day in December. Today for our ROAK the kids wrote positive messages and quotes on sticky notes and put them on random lockers. We also wrote kind notes and messages to teachers and left them on their desks. It’s amazing how it can really lift someone spirits to find a message.

Today as my two little kids and I decided to surprise dad with dinner because he had to work super late we went and picked him up food and as we were trying to make a left hand turn the car in front of us wouldn’t turn left. He waited through two lights. On the third set of waiting for the car to turn I decided to not honk but just get out of the lane and go a different way. It was a double win and made me feel way better. Thanks for doing this challenge. It’s been so wonderful. Tomorrow I’m going to take my 3 year old daughter on some one on one mommy daughter time. It doesn’t happen very often.

Today I folded my roommates laundry that was in the dryer and dried some more of her things that were in the washer because she pulled a double shift.

I work at Costco so needless to say I always get products from there. I’ve had my eye on a product for a while but haven’t had the cash to get it. Today I finally had the amount I needed to purchase it. While walking through the store I noticed there was only one left so I picked it up and hid it in the back so I could buy it at the end of my shift. Near the end of my shift a member came up to me and asked if we had that product. I kindly explained we sold the last one. She seemed very disappointed and explained she was going to get that product for her husband for Christmas’s and that she had been to two other Costco’s looking for it. In the end I decided to give it to her, she was extremely great full and even gave me a big hug.
