Feel the Love…and the Burn! || Ultimate Couple’s Workout

Dinner and a movie is nice, but have you tried a sexy, sweaty Valentine’s workout to celebrate?! It’s no secret that Chris and I are anything but traditional, so it should come as no surprise that one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday of love is a little partnered workout! This year we’ve put together something beyond the basic workout?a couple’s-themed workout that’ll get your heart racing in more ways than one! We’re talking crunches with a kiss, cozied up hamstring raises, a little bit of booty grabbing (as evidenced above ?), and much, much more.

And the best part? Getting a good Valentine?s burn TODAY leaves a few extra calories in the macro bank for chocolate covered strawberries TONIGHT. ? Try some of our favorite lovers’-themed exercises below for a fun way to get closer with your Valentine!?

Side note before you begin…if you do this workout with your kiddos around, they will want to join in on the action. I can promise you that.

And while it?s true that most things (workouts included) are better together, if you?re wanting a little one-on-one time, maybe save this one for when they?re at school.? Clearly, Ruby and our pups joined us, which we didn?t mind. The more, the merrier around this house (aka ?I give up on alone time?).

Outfit Details:

Sports Bra (similar here) | Lululemon leggings (similar here) | Reebok Hayasu Sneakers?

Here are our top 6 couple’s workout moves (Note: Dogs not necessary for the workout, but they sure do add something special).

Partner Presses:

Have your guy lie on the ground while you stand facing him, straddling his ankles. Lean forward, keeping your body in a straight line from heels to shoulders and clasp hands. Lower into a push up, then hold your plank position while your guy pushes you away to perform a chest press. Repeat this cycle for 1 minute, then rest for 1 minute. Do 4 sets.

Partner Squats:

Holding hands for balance, stand facing each other approximately 3 feet apart. Keeping your weight in your heels, lower your hips down and backward into a squat (don’t let go of each other!). Immediately push through your heels back to standing. Repeat for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Do 6 sets.

Core Crushers:

Start in a sit up position and have your guy get into plank, holding your feet. Do as many sit ups as you can in 2 minutes as he holds his plank. Switch positions and repeat.

Hamstring Raises:

Start on your knees with your guy in plank position, holding down your feet. Keeping your body in a straight line from knees to shoulders, slowly lower yourself to the floor, hands landing in a push up position. (You should feel tension in the hamstrings). Forcefully press against the ground to quickly push back up to starting position. Continue for 30 seconds, then switch and repeat to complete 1 set. Do 3 sets.

Lunges:

Stand facing each other and clasp right hands. Simultaneously step right foot back into a lunge, slowly lowering the knee until it gently “kisses” the ground. Push through left heel to return to standing position. Switch hands and feet, and repeat. Continue for 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Do 6 sets.

Plank Claps:

Begin in a plank position, facing your partner, with about 6 to 12 inches distance between your faces. Simultaneously shift your weight to your right arm, and with your core engaged, lift your left hands to meet in the middle. Hold each other’s hand and feel the love for a brief second before dropping back to the ground. Repeat on the other side. Hold your positions and perform as many reps as possible until one of the two of you has to tap out. Give one minute rest, then repeat for a total of 3 burnout rounds.

This Valentine’s Day, make this workout a priority with your partner. Not only will it give you quality time together (always a plus!), but the endorphins may lead to an even better workout later (get my drift?! Wink, wink.) Most importantly, have FUN with this partner workout! I guarantee you will laugh and sweat your way through it…and make amazing memories with your partner. Is there anything better?!

xo,
