Fitness is Fun: Pilates

Of all of the forms of fitness Chris and I have tried during our “Fitness is Fun” journey, Pilates is?by far?the most commonly asked about exercise from our friends, family, and followers. Surprisingly enough, despite being a wildly popular (not so) new fitness fad, neither Chris nor I had EVER tried it. Shocking, right?! For years, I’ve wanted to test the waters and see what all of the hype was about but never took the plunge. A few weeks ago, Chris and I finally headed to Power Core Plus?a local Pilates studio here in Mesa, AZ?to see if this core-based workout really is as intense as it claims to be. Guys…we felt the burn. Big time.

I will be honest and say that although I had heard?Pilates was killer on the core, I had NO idea what I was in for. By the end, truly every muscle in my body was shaking and on fire?from my abs to my shoulders and down through my glutes. I usually judge a workout (or how I angry I am at Chris) by the vein in my head, and let me say, it was bulging! HA! Seriously, this one gets a big fat Powell stamp of approval. While this type of workout doesn’t really fit in with our current fitness goals as a regular form of exercise, Chris and I both gave this bad boy a 9 or 10 out of 10. Pilates was a BIG winner!

Although Pilates is most known for being an amazing core building workout, it is so much more than that! It’s great for increasing flexibility and muscle endurance and for creating long, lean muscles?it’s definitely an excellent mind and TOTAL body workout! Pilates is an awesome choice for seasoned workout vets AND for beginners who are wanting fast results.

My?Workout Gear:

If you’re looking for a sculpted, swimwear-ready bod and can handle a little bit of intensity, I highly recommend checking out a Pilates studio in your area. The classes are fun, fast-paced, and truly work every major muscle group. Try it out and let me know what you think!!

Xoxo,

Heidi

    1. Hi Asa: I’m so sorry, but the PDF isn’t available for download. I’d continue to try and contact Storytel about the PDFs.
