Everyday: I Am So Very Thankful for the Four Amazing Kids Who Make Our Powell Pack Complete
POSTED ON December 4, 2013
The Month of Thanks if officially over, by my expressions of gratitude aren’t quite finished yet. I apologize in advance if these are getting old, but I can’t not show appreciation for these amazing blessings I have in my life…especially in the midst of so much sadness, tragedy, and heartache this world is experiencing.
On my mind today…
The four awesome kids I have . They are each unique in their own way—even Baby Ruby—and they each bless our lives in ways too numerous to count. They have disagreements just like other kids, but I know they always have each other’s backs, no matter what. They love and serve each other, have amazing senses of humor, are so very talented, love to have fun together, make us laugh, try to make good choices, keep us grounded, put up with the crazy life we lead, and remind us daily of what is really important in life.
Matix, Marley, Cash, and Ruby—today (and every day) I am so very thankful for you!
Day 22: I’m Thankful for Such a Wonderful Thanksgiving Day…

Day 22. I’m thankful for such a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with the people I love most.
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Love, The Powell Pack
Day 21: Today (and Everyday) I am Thankful for This Little Sleeping Beauty
POSTED ON November 27, 2013
Day 21. Today (and everyday) I am thankful for this little sleeping beauty. I swear, her sweet little spirit was meant to be a part of our family at this time. The Man upstairs must have known that life was going to be crazy for the Powell Pack when she made it into this world. He must’ve taught her to be patient, sweet, mellow, mild-mannered, and cuddly (which Mom needs ). She is all of these things and so, so much more. I love our Ruby Lane .
Day 21: I’m Thankful for My Miracle Doc
POSTED ON November 25, 2013
I’m thankful for Dr. Kashif Alvi. This miracle-worker relieved me from the excruciating pain of that darn kidney stone. So thankful for him and for modern medicine.
Day 20: I Am Thankful for This Man…
POSTED ON November 24, 2013
I am thankful for this man right here. I’ve put him through quite the ringer over the last week and a half: Ruby’s birth, my kidney stone hospitalization, and now a virus of some sort that I somehow caught (and I NEVER get sick).
This man keeps supporting and loving me through all of it…willingly picking up the slack where I can’t right now. He teaches me the truth in “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger,” and attacks every challenge with a smile on his face, and as an opportunity to grow. He helps me see past the present “new mom” feeling I get that life might not ever be normal again (new moms, I know you’ve experienced this!!) by assuring me with certainty that it will only get better . While I know this is true, it’s easy to forget when you feel down and out for so long.
This man loves me at my sickest, my most tired and most emotional, and at my worst. I am so so thankful today for the most amazing life-partner, husband, and best friend in the world. I’ll spend my life striving to be the best person I can be…using his example.

Day 17: I’m Grateful for NO MORE Kidney Stone!
POSTED ON November 21, 2013
I am so, so, SO grateful to have that kidney stone removed. Funny how when we refuse to slow down in life, life will force us to slow down.
Thankful for Fashionable Friends @ Lunchpails & Lipstick
With Baby Ruby here, our Powell Pack is officially a 6-Pack ☺. While we are enjoying her to the max and BEYOND grateful, I have to admit that my time for ME is becoming harder and harder to find…and I thought 3 kids was busy . Four is even busier…but WAY more fun!
With holiday parties around the corner (and us hosting Thanksgiving right here at the house!) I called in the help of my good friends at Lunchpails and Lipstick to help this fashion-challenged mama (yes, me) get ready for these holidays. Instead of keeping all of their great secrets for myself, I thought I’d share so you ladies can get some style ideas for all of the parties on your horizons ☺.
Day 16: Today, I am every-so-thankful for my fashionable friends at Lunchpails and Lipstick. Enjoy their tips for Holiday Fun!

Add a little fun to your festive fashion this year with these timeless styles and accessories.
Holiday Party Tips:
- You can never go wrong with a red lip for your holiday party. If bright red seems a bit scary, choose a brownish red or even a red gloss.
- When in doubt wear a metallic shoe! Gold, silver, pewter, bronze..they are all a neutral and will add an element of fun to your outfit!
- A holiday party is the perfect excuse to wear sequins. Go for it!
- Make sure you feel comfortable in your dress. If it’s too tight now, it will surely be extra snug once the festivities are over. Don’t be afraid to by one size up and have it tailored to fit you perfectly.
- A must have for every clutch are breath mints, gloss, powder and a small roller perfume or sample size. Who knows, you may just get lucky that night.:)
- We recommend you eat something before the party. Something healthy like a salad, soup, and definitely some protein. Hopefully this will prevent you from over eating so your perfect holiday ensemble will fit throughout the party season!
- Most importantly wear what you like. This is the season to take risks, go glam and have fun!

Day 11-15: Thankful for Magic Hands…and for Little Miss Ruby :)
POSTED ON November 20, 2013
This post was created about 30 minutes before my water broke at home last Saturday morning . Because a trip to the hospital was in order, it was clearly never posted. But I really do think this may have done the trick! It’s funny to read this post, knowing so much was just on the cusp of happening…and at the time I had no idea.
Blog post, typed just hours before Ruby was born, below.
PS – I am counting this as Days 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 that I missed during labor and recovery. Little Miss Ruby has given me so much to be thankful for in this Month of Thanks, I believe this is warranted .
I don’t get them often, but when I do get a massage, I sure do appreciate it .
Yesterday’s was amazing.
Once I realized that no amount of physical activity, hiking, jumping, or sex (sorry if TMI, but many of you suggested it!) could put me into labor, I decided to take a shot in the other direction with some much-needed “rest and relaxtion”. “Maybe THIS will do it for me,” I thought.
I called our amazing massage therapist and she made it to our home within 3 hours to do the job . It. Was. The. Most. Amazing. Massage. Ever. Maybe because my body has been in need for so long, or maybe because I was so tired…or maybe because Jenn has magic hands! I don’t know, but I will tell you this…I am SO thankful for yesterday’s massage.
Let’s hope the R&R did the trick! The clock is ticking…no baby yet…
